During its first century as a city, Chicago grew at a rate that ranked among the fastest growing in the world. Within the span of forty years, the city's population grew from slightly under 30,000 to over 1 million by 1890. By the close of the 19th century, Chicago was the fifth largest city in the world, and the largest of the cities that did not exist at the dawn of the century. Within fifty years of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the population had tripled to over 3 million.
As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 2,695,598 people and 1,194,337 households residing within the city limits of Chicago. More than half the population of the state of Illinois lives in the Chicago metropolitan area. The 2000 United States Census had shown the population density of the city itself was 12,750.3 people per square mile (4,923.0/km²), making it one of the nation's most densely populated cities. There were 1,152,868 housing units at an average density of 5,075.8 per square mile (1,959.8/km²). Of the 1,061,928 households in the 2000 census, 28.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.1% were married couples living together, 18.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% were non-families. The median income for a household in the city was $38,625 in 2000, and the median income for a family was $46,748. Males had a median income of $35,907 versus $30,536 for females. Below the poverty line were 19.6% of the population and 16.6% of the families.
Music Inc. is an album by American jazz trumpeter Charles Tolliver's Music Inc. with a Big Band recorded in 1970 and first released on the Strata-East label.
The Allmusic review by Jason Ankeny awarded the album 4½ stars stating "The remarkable Music, Inc. Big Band remains the apotheosis of trumpeter Charles Tolliver's singular creative vision. Rarely if ever has a big band exhibited so much freedom or finesse, while at the same time never overwhelming the virtuoso soloists on whom the performances pivots".
All compositions by Charles Tolliver except as indicated
The Chicagoan was an American magazine modeled after the New Yorker published from June 1926 until April 1935. Focusing on the cultural life of the city of Chicago, each issue of the Chicagoan contained art, music, and drama reviews, profiles of personalities and institutions, commentaries on the local scene, and editorials, along with cartoons and original art.
In an early issue, the Chicagoan's editors claimed to represent "a cultural, civilized and vibrant" city "which needs make no obeisance to Park Avenue, Mayfair, or the Champs Elysees." Despite its lofty aims, the stalwart assertions of publisher Martin J. Quigley (who once wrote that "Whatever Chicago was and was to be, the Chicagoan must be and become"), and a circulation that sometimes rose above 20,000, the magazine was largely forgotten after its last issue.
Only two substantial collections remain, one at the University of Chicago's Regenstein Library and the other at the New York Public Library. Cultural historian Neil Harris has recently written a book on the subject, The Chicagoan: A Lost History of the Jazz Age (the University of Chicago Press).

Plot: Deadwood, Dakota Territory, is largely the abode of men, where Indian scout Calamity Jane is as hard-riding, boastful, and handy with a gun as any; quite an overpowering personality. But the army lieutenant she favors doesn't really appreciate her finer qualities. One of Jane's boasts brings her to Chicago to recruit an actress for the Golden Garter stage. Arrived, the lady in question appears (at first) to be a more feminine rival for the favors of Jane's male friends...including her friendly enemy Wild Bill Hickock.

Chicagoan, video-edit version. I TUBAX SARANNO IN TOUR DA MARZO Shot&directed; by Marco Ferri. Crazy Effect Andrea Ferrarello. Assistant Arturo Bernardi. From the new album GOVERNO LASER. Gran video-Gran pezzo.

I can tell by the look that's in your eyes
And I'm not surprised
You got to move on like the sun got to rise
I'm just holdin' you down
BRIDGE:
But the universe is calling you
You are one of chosen fews
You got to pay your dues
Me and the baby gonna miss you
I see your smile in her face
I only wish we were with you now
It's a lonely, lonely place
BRIDGE
CHORUS:
Hey, pack'd my bags, put 'em at the door
Hey, pack'd my bags, put 'em at the door
Hey, pack'd my bags, put 'em at the door
I know you'll make it
You deserve it, you know you do
The blues, you'll shake it
I'll, I'll focus our view
Oh, don't let them change you
Come like thieves in the night
Oh, dont' let them rearrage you, boy
You've got to do what's right
BRIDGE
CHORUS
Once a month, each time you say
Goin' away, oh
I don't wanna see you go
No no no no no no no no no no
Oh you, you've got to make it
You've got to make it, boy
Go on now
