Porgy - The Other Lobster Meat - Catch And Cook
With the wind taming just a touch, I made the run out to the patch reefs to test the Ugly Stik GX2 combo on some reef fish. The water was still dirty and the Ballyhoo cast netting tough. Finally got into a few fish. The Ugly Stik in current configuration with the 20lb Trilene Big Game is not very well situated for basic Yellow Tailling on the reef. The rod is overly flexible, the reel pickup is slow and lacks torque, and the mono line stretches too much. What that equates to is slow and spongy hook sets and lost fish. I ended up 2 for 10. I'll give it another try with a different configuration the next time.
For dinner, I took the Porgy (poor mans Lobster) and did a basic butter saute with only the addition of salt and pepper. A quick pan fry to keep it moist and it became an excellent dinner.
Tomorrow, if all pieces fall into place, will be an offshore day. This will be another test for the Ugly Stik.

It's goliath porgy time! Took a break from the fluke scene and worked 1/2 oz Bluefrog bucktails with small pieces of sandworms on shallow rockpiles. The bucktails certainly help you catch bigger fish! But however, this isn't fill the bucket fishing...you are looking to cull the biggest out of this school with this method.
Rod in this video is a KastKing Kayak Phantom Rod rated 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz and the reel is a KastKing Sharky II with 20lb KastKing Braided line.

Nina Simone
Nina Simone (/ˈniːnə sᵻˈmoʊn/; born Eunice Kathleen Waymon; February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003) was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist who worked in a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop.
Born in North Carolina, the sixth child of a preacher, Simone aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of her supporters in Tryon, she enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music in New York but was unable to continue because of the high fees. She was later denied a scholarship to study at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, despite a well-received audition. Simone became fully convinced her rejection had been entirely due to her race, a statement that has been a matter of controversy.
To make a living, Simone chose to play "cocktail piano" at a night club in Atlantic City, where she was told she had to sing to her own accompaniment, effectively launching her career as a jazz vocalist. She recorded more than forty albums, mostly between 1958, when she made her debut with Little Girl Blue, and 1974, and had a hit in the United States in 1958 with "I Loves You, Porgy".

"I Loves You, Porgy" is a duet from the opera Porgy and Bess with music by George Gershwin and lyrics by Ira Gershwin. It was published in 1935.
Originally duetted by Anne Brown and Todd Duncan in the 1935 production and in the 1942 revival of the opera, "I Loves You, Porgy" has been recorded as a solo number by a number of popular vocalists and jazz musicians, most notably Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Bill Evans. Nina Simone's recording of the song (from Little Girl Blue, 1958) was a Top 20 pop hit in the United States in the autumn of 1959. Simone's version went to number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the R&B charts. A live version is featured in her 1964 album Nina Simone in Concert. Bill Evans's piano trio version recorded at the Village Vanguard in 1961, available on the CD re-issue of the album Waltz for Debby, is also acclaimed.
Barbra Streisand recorded "I Loves You, Porgy" as a medley with "Bess, You Is My Woman Now" (sung as "Porgy, I's Your Woman Now") on her The Broadway Album, Columbia Records, 1985. Whitney Houston sang "I Loves You, Porgy" at the beginning of a medley with "I Have Nothing" at the 1994 American Music Awards. This performance was included on the 2014 CD/DVD release, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances. Houston also performed the tune during her HBO televised Classic Whitney concert in Washington, D.C. in 1997. Christina Aguilera performed a critically acclaimed rendition of the song at the Grammy Nomination Concert in December 2008.

Porgy - The Other Lobster Meat - Catch And Cook With the wind taming just a touch, I made the run out to the patch reefs to test the Ugly Stik GX2 combo on some reef fish. The water was still dirty and the Ballyhoo cast netting tough. Finally got into a few fish. The Ugly Stik in current configuration with the 20lb Trilene Big Game is not very well situated for basic Yellow Tailling on the reef. The rod is overly flexible, the reel pickup is slow and lacks torque, and the mono line stretches too much. What that equates to is slow and spongy hook sets and lost fish. I ended up 2 for 10. I'll give it another try with a different configuration the next time. For dinner, I took the Porgy (poor mans Lobster) and did a basic butter saute with only the addition of salt and pepper. A q...

Took a break from the fluke scene and worked 1/2 oz Bluefrog bucktails with small pieces of sandworms on shallow rockpiles. The bucktails certainly help you catch bigger fish! But however, this isn't fill the bucket fishing...you are looking to cull the biggest out of this school with this method. With the wind taming just a touch, I made the run out to the patch reefs to test the Ugly Stik GX2 combo on some reef fish. The water was still dirty and the Ballyhoo cast netting tough. A version by US soul band Charme was released in 1979 featuring an uncredited vocal by Luther Vandross. The single was re-released a few years later after the vocalist's rise in popularity and he was then credited as the featured artist. It remains a popular version in rare groove circles.
US disco/jazz-funk band Side Effect released their own version in 1980. It was on their "After The Rain" album. It made it to 77 in the US R&B; charts.
In 1999, a cover version by Eric Benét (with Faith Evans on background vocals) was released as the first single from Benét's album A Day in the Life. Their version reached number two in New Zealand.
MC Lyte used this song as the musical foundation of "Poor Georgie", from her 1991 album Act Like You Know. The song was used by Devin the Dude in his song "Georgy" from album "The Dude (Devin the Dude album)" and by Guru in "Kissed the World" from album "Jazzmatazz, Vol. 4: The Hip-Hop Jazz Messenger: Back to the Future" also.
In 2002, Japanese musician Ringo Sheena formed the band Yokoshima (邪) solely to play cover of Georgy Porgy.
In 2005, guitarist Nils offered a rendition of this song from his popular Contemporary jazz radio Baja/TSR Records released album, 'Pacific Coast Highway.'[4] Its also sampled on the remix of Joe's "All Or Nothing" single from his 1994 album of the same name called the Georgy Porgy remix.
In 2009 a rearranged instrumental rendition was also done by Japanese artist DJ Deckstream[5] on his Music Castle album.[6]
