The Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) is a South Americantree in the family Lecythidaceae, and also the name of the tree's commercially harvested edible seed.
The Brazil nut is a large tree, reaching 50 metres (160 ft) tall and 1 to 2 metres (3.3 to 6.6 ft) trunk diameter, among the largest of trees in the Amazon Rainforests. It may live for 500 years or more, and according to some authorities often reaches an age of 1,000 years. The stem is straight and commonly unbranched for well over half the tree's height, with a large emergent crown of long branches above the surrounding canopy of other trees.

Eating too much fat can also make us more likely to put on weight, because foods that are high in fat are high in energy too. Not all fat is bad. We need some fat in our diet because it helps the body absorb certain nutrients. The brain is 65-70% of fat, and it is the natural food source of the brain. Fat is a source of energy as well as some vitamins (such as vitamins A and D), and provides essential fatty acids that the body can’t make itself.
How much fat is too much fat?
It actually depends on how your body metabolizes fat. Some people people are better in metabolizing carbohydrates, and some people struggle to process carbohydrates in their body. First, you need to know how many calories you should eat each day. Once you know this, you can determine how many grams of fat and saturated fat you can eat without exceeding your limits for fat. These limits are 25% to 35% of calories from fat and less than 7% of calories from saturated fat.
Here are Five of My Favorite Healthy Fats:
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that have various benefits including: antimicrobial benefits and aiding in digestion and nutrient delivery. MCTs produce ketones that can protect the cardiovascular system, kidneys, colon, pancreas, increase metabolism, anti-cancer properties, and helps with diabetes symptoms. Although cashew nuts are known to provide a variety of cardio-protective benefits, many avoid them for fear of weight gain.
Almonds
Almond provides excellent sources of protein, fiber, vitamin E, zinc, iron, selenium, magnesium, and calcium. Almonds have vitamin-like oils called essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are required for a healthy nervous system, anti-inflammatory effects, hormone balance and cell structure. It's loaded with Omega-3 fats, and ideal for to kick sugar craving
Brazil Nuts
Brazil Nuts are packed with energy, and give 3448% of the daily intake of Selenium. Selenium is a precursor and helps in the production that fat burning hormone, Testosterone. It also boost the immune system, and is ideal for people who wants to boost their immune system. Brazil nuts are rich in vitamin E and selenium – both nutrients which help to prevent and inhibit cataracts.

Breakfast ~

10 strawberries
1 mango
3 ice cubes
and some vanilla drops
Snacks ~ 2 bananas, 1 cup blackberries and 1 apple
Lunch ~ 2 zucchini spirallized.
Salsa ~ 3 tomatoes
1/2 red pepper
1/2 clove garlic
2 pitted dates
about 5 sundried tomatoes
1tsp apple cider vinegar
1 thai chilli (optional)
1 brazil nut
1tsp sesame seeds
dash of salt and a bit of water all blended in the vitamix.
Dinner ~
Salad ~ 1 cup shredded broccoli
4.5 cups chopped kale
2 green onion stalks
2-3 colourful sweet peppers
8 cherry tomatoes chopped
Dressing ~
Ounce of soaked cashews (I actually just use a shot glass to measure, so it might not be an actual ounce)
1/2 clove garlic
1/2 red pepper
1 thai chilli pepper (optional)
3 pitted dates
1 little shallot
Spices: 1tsp mustard powder, 1tsp smoked paprika, 1tbsp red pepper flakes, dash of ground pepper, thai spice blend and salt (this is just what I used, feel free to add or replace with your faves!!)
1tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Blend and enjoy one your salad! xo

1 brazil nut
1tsp sesame seeds
dash of salt and a bit of water all blended in the vitamix.
Dinner ~
Salad ~ 1 cup shredded broccoli
4.5 cups chopped kale
2 green onion stalks
2-3 colourful sweet peppers
8 cherry tomatoes chopped
Dressing ~
Ounce of soaked cashews (I actually just use a shot glass to measure, so it might not be an actual ounce)
1/2 clove garlic
1/2 red pepper
1 thai chilli pepper (optional)
3 pitted dates
1 little shallot
Spices: 1tsp mustard powder, 1tsp smoked paprika, 1tbsp red pepper flakes, dash of ground pepper, thai spice blend and salt (this is just what I used, feel free to add or replace with your faves!!)
1tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Blend and enjoy one your salad! xo

Brazil nuts aren't usually a pantry staple but every time I get my hands on them, I'm pleasantly reminded of how buttery and sweet they taste. All of the Brazil nut's comforting flavors are brought out in this gravy recipe shared with us by Dr. Lorayne Barton. We like it best over biscuits.
Ingredients
1 cup water, divided
⅔ cup Brazil nuts
1 tablespoon onion powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
1½ tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos (or soy sauce)

A varied diet of fresh, raw vegetables can fix almost anything, including any adverse reaction to the foods themselves. Though, obviously you have to use common sense; if you smoke, drink lots of coffee, or rarely get enough sleep then a large kale smoothie and a kale salad every day isn't the smartest choice.
For those with severe thyroid disorders, occasionally (depending on the thyroid disorder and the person's diet), cruciferous vegetables can be debilitating if not cooked first. It doesn't take much heat to remove the glucosinolates and therefore the threat to the thyroid.
I know it's being said to death lately to avoid wheat, and in some cases maybe over used, but I have found that many people have to eliminate gluten before their thyroid will heal. Typically, people with issues towards gluten need to detoxify and clean their intestinal system. And in every case of thyroid problems I've encountered, the person needed B vitamins as well and a good whole food multivitamin/mineral supplement. BRAZIL NUT COOKIES - Easy Recipe - Smoothies Recipe
Brazil nuts aren't usually a pantry staple but every time I get my hands on them, I'm pleasantly reminded of how buttery and sweet they taste. All of the Brazil nut's comforting flavors are brought out in this gravy recipe shared with us by Dr. Lorayne Barton. We like it best over biscuits.
Ingredients
1 cup water, divided
⅔ cup Brazil nuts
1 tablespoon onion powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
1½ tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos (or soy sauce)
¼-½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
1 Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
2 While waiting for the water to boil, blend the rest of the ingredients (nuts, onion powder, cornstarch, nutritional yeast flakes, Bragg's Liquid Aminos, and salt) until smooth in cup of water.
3 Add the blended mixture to a saucepan with the boiling water. Stir over low heat until thickened.
Ready in about 15 minutes
Makes 2 cups

Today I decided to make a LONG video (Sorry! It was fun!) of all the food I ate today! Everyone needs a different amount so listen to your body on how much you personally need. But I just wanted to share what *I* personally eat in a typical day!

RECIPES:
Breakfast ~
Smoothie with 3 bananas
10 strawberries
1 mango
3 ice cubes
and some vanilla drops
Snacks ~ 2 bananas, 1 cup blackberries and 1 apple
Lunch ~ 2 zucchini spirallized.
Salsa ~ 3 tomatoes
1/2 red pepper
1/2 clove garlic
2 pitted dates
about 5 sundried tomatoes
1tsp apple cider vinegar
1 thai chilli (optional)
1 brazil nut
1tsp sesame seeds
dash of salt and a bit of water all blended in the vitamix.
Dinner ~
Salad ~ 1 cup shredded broccoli
4.5 cups chopped kale
2 green onion stalks
2-3 colourful sweet peppers
8 cherry tomatoes chopped
Dressing ~
Ounce of soaked cashews (I actually just use a shot glass to measure, so it might not be an actual ounce)
1/2 clove garlic
1/2 red pepper
1 thai chilli pepper (optional)
3 pitted dates
1 little shallot
Spices: 1tsp mustard powder, 1tsp smoked paprika, 1tbsp red pepper flakes, dash of ground pepper, thai spice blend and salt (this is just what I used, feel free to add or replace with your faves!!)
1tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Blend and enjoy one your salad! xo

Foods to avoid when you have a thyroid problem
If you have hypothyroidism, medical professionals warn against eating raw cruciferous vegetables or suggest you radically limit their intake. Foods in question with hypothyroidism include: broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, turnips, soy, peanuts, linseed, pine nuts, millet, cassava, mustard greens, asparagus, and sweet potatoes. They also recommend we avoid alcohol and tobacco, and while I agree with that, I don't necessarily agree with the cruciferous vegetable recommendation. A varied diet of fresh, raw vegetables can fix almost anything, including any adverse reaction to the foods themselves. Though, obviously you have to use common sense; if you smoke, drink lots of coffee, or rarely get enough sleep then a large kale smoothie and a kale salad every day isn't the smartest choice.
For those with severe thyroid disorders, occasionally (depending on the thyroid disorder and the person's diet), cruciferous vegetables can be debilitating if not cooked first. It doesn't take much heat to remove the glucosinolates and therefore the threat to the thyroid.
I know it's being said to death lately to avoid wheat, and in some cases maybe over used, but I have found that many people have to eliminate gluten before their thyroid will heal. Typically, people with issues towards gluten need to detoxify and clean their intestinal system. And in every case of thyroid problems I've encountered, the person needed B vitamins as well and a good whole food multivitamin/mineral supplement. Brazil Nut Gravy
Brazil nuts aren't usually a pantry staple but every time I get my hands on them, I'm pleasantly reminded of how buttery and sweet they taste. All of the Brazil nut's comforting flavors are brought out in this gravy recipe shared with us by Dr. Lorayne Barton. We like it best over biscuits.
Ingredients
1 cup water, divided
⅔ cup Brazil nuts
1 tablespoon onion powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
1½ tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos (or soy sauce)
¼-½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
1 Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
2 While waiting for the water to boil, blend the rest of the ingredients (nuts, onion powder, cornstarch, nutritional yeast flakes, Bragg's Liquid Aminos, and salt) until smooth in cup of water.
3 Add the blended mixture to a saucepan with the boiling water. Stir over low heat until thickened.
Ready in about 15 minutes
Makes 2 cups
