In cooking, a sauce is liquid, creaming or semi-solid food served on or used in preparing other foods. Sauces are not normally consumed by themselves; they add flavor, moisture, and visual appeal to another dish. Sauce is a French word taken from the Latin salsus, meaning salted. Possibly the oldest sauce recorded is garum, the fish sauce used by the Ancient Romans.
Sauces need a liquid component, but some sauces (for example, pico de gallo salsa or chutney) may contain more solid elements than liquid. Sauces are an essential element in cuisines all over the world.
Sauces may be used for savory dishes or for desserts. They can be prepared and served cold, like mayonnaise, prepared cold but served lukewarm like pesto, or can be cooked like bechamel and served warm or again cooked and served cold like apple sauce. Some sauces are industrial inventions like Worcestershire sauce, HP sauce, or nowadays mostly bought ready-made like soy sauce or ketchup, other are still freshly prepared by the cook. Sauces for salads are called salad dressing. Sauces made by deglazing a pan are called pan sauces.

Plot: The life of Marie Antoinette (1755-1793) from betrothal and marriage in 1770 to her beheading. At first, she's a Hapsburg teenager isolated in France, living a virgin's life in the household of the Dauphin, a shy solitary man who would like to be a locksmith. Marie discovers high society, with the help of Orleans and her brothers-in-law. Her foolishness is at its height when she meets a Swedish count, Axel de Fersen. He helps her see her fecklessness. In the second half of the film, she avoids an annulment, becomes queen, bears children, and is a responsible ruler. The affair of the necklace and the general poverty of France feed revolution. She faces death with dignity.

Me suivent de près
Quand je vais dans la salle de bain
Les canaris et les serins
M'envient ce doux bruit
Que je fais le matin...
Les troubadours le savent bien
Qu'importe l'humeur
Toutes les heures
Sonnent bien
Ils sont pas sourds comme les voisins
Qui pensent que j'déménage
Que je vais pas bien
Qui veulent que j'déménage
Paraît qu' c'est pour mon bien...
Je chante la la la
Sur tous les airs
Et sur tous les tons
Tu n'es pas là là là
Et y'a guère
Que l'écho qui répond
Et j'ai le la bémol
Plaqué au sol...
Depuis j'attends le jour
Où l'air de rien
Tu viendras me faire
De la mousse dans le bain
Dieu sait que les mots d'amour
Ça s'entend de loin
Comme les scènes de ménage
Et les bêtes en cage
Comme les bruits de casserole
Et les rossignols...
Ça fait des la la la
Sur tous les airs
Et sur tous les tons
Tu n'es pas là là là
Et y'a guère
Que l'écho qui répond
Je chante la la la
Des phrases en l'air
Et des sanglots longs
Tu n'es plus là là là
Et la sirène
Se change en poisson...
Et j'ai le la bémol
Plaqué au sol
Et j'ai le la mineur
Plaqué au coeur...
