David "Dave" Gahan (/ˈɡɑːn/; born David Callcott; 9 May 1962) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the baritone lead singer for the electronic music band Depeche Mode since their debut in 1980. He is also an accomplished solo artist, releasing albums in 2003 (Paper Monsters) and 2007 (Hourglass). Though his bandmate Martin Gore continues to be the main Depeche Mode songwriter, Gahan has also contributed a number of songs to the band's most recent albums; Playing the Angel (2005), Sounds of the Universe (2009) and Delta Machine (2013). Three of these songs were released as singles, including "Suffer Well" in 2005, "Hole to Feed" in 2009, and "Should Be Higher" in 2013. In 2012 & 2015, he also contributed lyrics and sang lead vocals on the Soulsavers albums The Light the Dead See and Angels & Ghosts. Q magazine ranked Gahan no. 73 on the list of the "100 Greatest Singers" and no. 27 on "The 100 Greatest Frontmen".
Gahan was born as David Callcott into a working-class family, to parents Len Callcott (a bus driver) and his wife Sylvia (a conductress or "clippy" on London buses), Dave was only six months old when his father left the family. Sylvia and Len divorced two years later and his mother moved Dave and sister Sue (born 1960) to Basildon, Essex, after Sylvia met and married her second husband Jack Gahan (an administrator with Shell Oil). The Gahan family continued to grow with the birth of two more half-brothers Peter (born 1966) and Phil (born 1968). Dave and Sue were raised under the impression that their mother's second husband, Jack, was their natural father.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.
Depeche Mode /dᵻˌpɛʃˈmoʊd/ are an English electronic band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group's original line-up consisted of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andy Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter from 1980 until 1981). Depeche Mode released their debut record in 1981, Speak & Spell, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Clarke left the band after the release of the album, leaving the band as a trio to record A Broken Frame, released the following year. Gore took over lead songwriting duties and, later in 1982, Alan Wilder (keyboards, drums, occasional songwriter) officially joined the band to fill Clarke's spot, establishing a line up that would continue for the next thirteen years.
The band's last albums of the 1980s, Black Celebration and Music for the Masses, established them as a dominant force on the mainstream electronic music scene. A highlight of this era was the band's concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl, where they drew a crowd in excess of 60,000 people. In the new decade, Depeche Mode released Violator, a mainstream success. The subsequent album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, and the supporting Devotional Tour exacerbated tensions within the band to the point where Alan Wilder quit in 1995, leading to intense media and fan speculation that the band would split. Now a trio once again, the band released Ultra in 1997, recorded at the height of Gahan's near-fatal drug abuse, Gore's alcoholism and seizures and Fletcher's depression. The release of Exciter confirmed Depeche Mode's willingness to remain together, the subsequent, and very successful, Exciter Tour being their first tour in support of an original album in eight years since the Devotional Tour, although the band had toured in 1998 to support The Singles 86–98 compilation album.

All of This and Nothing is a compilation album by the English rock band The Psychedelic Furs, released in 1988 by Columbia Records. The album has 14 songs, including one — "All That Money Wants" — recorded specifically for the collection.
The album peaked at number 67 in the United Kingdom and number 102 in the United States.Allmusic writer Michael Sutton said the album "effectively summarizes the Psychedelic Furs' evolution from a left-of-center British rock band to a stylish alternative pop act". A Rolling Stone review was critical of the album for omitting too many of the band's early singles, such as "Run and Run" and "Into You Like a Train", though it also called All of This and Nothing the best album to include "The Ghost in You" and "Heaven".

Depeche Mode - Interview with Dave Gahan. 2017 “We’re really kind of upset about what’s going on in the world,” says Dave Gahan at the start of our interview. Depeche Mode’s singer stopped by to discuss his iconic band’s new album, ‘Spirit,’ a record with political overtones and a thoughtful character that reminds listeners of the self-determination we all share. Regarding the title, Gahan says “we all have a consciousness, and anytime we want we can stop and choose to feel what’s really going on there. We all know when something’s not right.” Depeche Mode introduced itself to the world in 1981 with the catchy synth-pop of ‘Speak & Spell.’ Martin Gore’s writing well matched Gahan’s sensual vocals, and beloved records such as ‘Construction Time Again’ and ‘Violator,” made them one the er...

After the storm had passed
I wondered how long
The break in the clouds would last
I saw something in your eyes, I'm sure
Baby, I saw it
Something in your eyes
I wanted it for myself
I sit and I wait and I stare
Still wishing for a divine intervention
To lift me from my chair
I saw something in your eyes, I'm sure
Baby, I saw it
Something in your eyes
I saw something in your eyes, I'm sure
Baby, I saw it
It was something in your eyes
I wanted it for myself
You and I have come so far
We've reached beyond the farthest star
Time and time and time again
I want you back, you were a friend
We can't pretend
I saw something in your eyes, I'm sure
Baby, I saw it
Something in your eyes
