In today's vlog, i'll be sharing some advice/tips that are based from my experiences and from my schoolmates as well.
*#1. Know your WHY*
Your WHY will serve as your motivation. Something that will keep you going when life puts you down to the very rock bottom while you'll be in the nursing school.
*#2 Master taking Blood Pressure manually*
It's never great to rely on machines specially when you get a high reading. It's always a good idea to recheck patient's blood pressure manually.
*#3 Prepare - Planner*
it will keep you organized and it will help you stay on top of everything from school to work to your personal life.
*#4 Prioritize*
It's going to be the skills that separates a good nurse to a great nurse! Always remember your priorities, stay organize and always be flexible.
*#5 Develop the Clinical Eye/Ears*
It doesn't take much to make sure that your patient is breathing well, oxygen saturation is greater than 90/95-100%, pulse is within normal limits, comfortable and safe/secure.

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts, a vocational nursing school in California, offers Vocational Nurse Program (LVN Program). The LVN school has its campuses in Fresno, Modesto, Concord and San Mateo, CA. Most San Mateo Campus students come from SF Bay Area cities: San Francisco, San Jose, Hayward, Fremont, Daly City, Newark, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Leandro and Sunnyvale.
The LVN program utilizes the plan that nursing courses progress along the continuum of simple to complex. The organizing principle is homeostasis as it relates to the study of representative client problems by addressing the various anatomical systems and specialty areas in nursing. The program includes didactic and laboratory training as well as a clinical component that correlates with the theoretical knowledge.
As a result of preparation, students will be able to work as a Vocational Nurse in hospitals or medical clinics.
After completing the Vocational Nurse Program, students will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical/Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN). After passing this exam a candidate will receive the status of Licencsed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Vocational Nurse Program is approved and accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT).

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), also known as licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), provide basic medical care within the healthcare industry. LPNs earn more money than CNAs but less than most RNs. Your exact LPN salary will depend on many factors such as the state in which you live, the industry in which you work, and more.
LPN jobs have a positive outlook, and according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field is expected to grow 25% between 2012 and 2022. Although an LPN’s scope of practice is more restricted compared to an RN, they still have a number of different job responsibilities, including dressing wounds, cleaning patients, giving injections, and more.
You can become an LPN in as little as 12-18 months. My mother worked as an LPN throughout her career. LPNs may be paid a salary or hourly wage. The average income tends to increase with experience.

Leona Davis, a Licensed Vocational Nurse from Torrance, California has been named the 2016 Central Region Caregiver of the Year.
Leona and her patient, DJ, have been in a partnership for eight years. The staff report that DJ’s doctors continuously praise her results and point out that under Leona’s care, DJ has lost zero range of motion – a rarity for most patients with his condition. But perhaps the greatest endorsement of all comes from DJ’s mother who says that Leona “has left an everlasting mark on their family.”
Even more remarkable is that Leona accomplished all of this while facing a significant medical challenge of her own: breast cancer. Her story encourages us all.

Assisted living
An assisted living residence or assisted living facility (ALF) is a housing facility for people with disabilities. Within the United States assisted living spectrum, there is no nationally recognized definition of assisted living. Assisted living facilities are regulated and licensed at the US state level. More than two-thirds of the states use the licensure term "assisted living." Other licensure terms used for this philosophy of care include residential care home, assisted care living facilities, and personal care homes. Each state licensing agency has its own definition of the term it uses to describe assisted living. Because the term assisted living has not been defined in some states it is often a marketing term used by a variety of senior living communities, licensed or unlicensed. Assisted Living facilities in the United States had a national median monthly rate of $3,500.00 in 2014, a 1.45% increase over 2013 and a 4.29% increase over a five-year period from 2009-2014.

In today's vlog, i'll be sharing some advice/tips that are based from my experiences and from my schoolmates as well.
*#1. Know your WHY*
Your WHY will serve as your motivation. Something that will keep you going when life puts you down to the very rock bottom while you'll be in the nursing school.
*#2 Master taking Blood Pressure manually*
It's never great to rely on machines specially when you get a high reading. It's always a good idea to recheck patient's blood pressure manually.
*#3 Prepare - Planner*
it will keep you organized and it will help you stay on top of everything from school to work to your personal life.
*#4 Prioritize*
It's going to be the skills that separates a good nurse to a great nurse! Always remember your priorities, stay organize and always be flexible.
*#5 Develop the Clinical Eye/Ears*
It doesn't take much to make sure that your patient is breathing well, oxygen saturation is greater than 90/95-100%, pulse is within normal limits, comfortable and safe/secure.

Leona and her patient, DJ, have been in a partnership for eight years. The staff report that DJ’s doctors continuously praise her results and point out that under Leona’s care, DJ has lost zero range of motion – a rarity for most patients with his condition. But perhaps the greatest endorsement of all comes from DJ’s mother who says that Leona “has left an everlasting mark on their family.”
Even more remarkable is that Leona accomplished all of this while facing a significant medical challenge of her own: breast cancer. Her story encourages us all.
