Ibrox Stadium is a football stadium located on the south side of the River Clyde in the Ibrox district of Glasgow. The home of Rangers F.C., Ibrox is one of the largest football stadiums in the UK, and the third largest football stadium in Scotland, having an all-seated capacity of 50,947.
It was opened as Ibrox Park in 1899, but suffered a disaster in 1902 when a wooden terrace collapsed. Vast earthen terraces were built in its place, while a main stand, which is now a listed building, was built in 1928. A British record crowd of 118,567 gathered in January 1939 for a league match with Celtic. After the Ibrox disaster of 1971, the stadium was largely rebuilt. The vast bowl-shaped terracing was removed and replaced by three rectangular, all-seated stands by 1981. After renovations were completed in 1997, the ground was renamed Ibrox Stadium.
Ibrox has also hosted the Scotland national football team, particularly when the national stadium Hampden Park was redeveloped in the 1990s. Ibrox also hosted three Scottish domestic cup finals in the same period. It has also been the venue for concerts by major performers, including Frank Sinatra.
Ibrox, from the Scottish Gaelic term for badger den, may refer to:
Rangers Football Club are a football club in Glasgow, Scotland, which plays in the Scottish Championship, the second tier of the Scottish Professional Football League. Their home ground, Ibrox Stadium, is in the south-west of the city.
Rangers have won more league titles and trebles than any other club in the world, winning the league title 54 times, the Scottish Cup 33 times and the Scottish League Cup 27 times, and achieving the treble of all three in the same season seven times. Rangers was the first British club to reach a UEFA tournament final and won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 after being runner-up twice in 1961 and 1967. A third runners-up finish in Europe came in the UEFA Cup in 2008. Rangers have a long-standing rivalry with Celtic, the two Glasgow clubs being collectively known as the Old Firm.
Founded in 1872, Rangers are one of the eleven original members of the Scottish Football League and remained in the top division continuously until the liquidation of The Rangers Football Club PLC at the end of the 2011–12 season. With a new corporate identity, the club gained admittance to the fourth tier of the Scottish game in time for the start of the following season, since when they have been promoted twice in three seasons.

A stadium (plural stadiums or stadia) is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage either partly or completely surrounded by a tiered structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event.
Pausanias noted that for about half a century the only event at the ancient Greek Olympic festival was the race that comprised one length of the stade at Olympia, where the word "stadium" originated.
"Stadium" is the Latin form of the Greek word "stadion" (στάδιον), a measure of length equalling the length of 600 human feet. As feet are of variable length the exact length of a stadion depends on the exact length adopted for 1 foot at a given place and time. Although in modern terms 1 stadion = 600 ft (180 m), in a given historical context it may actually signify a length up to 15% larger or smaller.
The equivalent Roman measure, the stadium, had a similar length — about 185 m (607 ft) - but instead of being defined in feet was defined using the Roman standard passus to be a distance of 125 passūs (double-paces).

Just after David King took over and got the rats out of Ibrox, I went on the Founders Trail and Stadium Tour (February 2015). This great tour costs only £10 and is well worth the money. You enter the magificent Ibrox Stadium via the front door and head left to the Press Conference Room where the stadium rules are given and a wee short video is presented which gives a brief summary of the amazing history of our club. The away dressing room, where the pegs are higher up than in the home dressing room (meaning the opposition always need to reach new heights to win at fortress Ibrox). After that, you climb the marble staircase to see the "Rangers Hall of Fame" board and enter the opulent Blue Room, which is adorned with superb paintings of former managers and players. Next up the traditional...
On Easter Sunday 2012, Josh and I went along to the magnificent Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow for an official tour. This was really a brilliant day out and we saw: 1. The Press Conference Room - complete with 10 minute video intro to Ranger's history 2. The Marble Staircase and the Ranger's Hall Of Fame 3. The opulent blue room complete with Senga Murray murals of managers, chairmen and captains 4. The Trophy room 5. The director's box 6. The members lounge 7. The shower room 8. The Home Dressing room 9. The Tunnel, complete with Broxy Bear 10. The pitchside and dugouts The tour lasts 1.5 hrs and is £8 for an adult and £5.50 for a child (£24 for a 2+2 family ticket). A magnificent day out for not a lot of money. I really hope Rangers survive as is and don't go through liquidation - that histo...

Charity fundraiser John Burkhill was at guest at Ibrox for the Rangers V. Hibs clash. Sheffield's 'Mad Man With The Pram' got hero's reception from Rangers fans after was sworn at and verbally abused and had items stolen by a number of Rangers fans outside Hillsborough stadium before the clubs pre-season friendly against Sheffield Wednesday. Rangers F.C. 1872 supporters group has since apologised and John was presented with a cheque on the pitch at Ibrox at half time to support his ambition of raising £1 million for the charity

The rivalry between football clubs Rangers and Celtic goes past typical name calling and dives into violence, racial slurs and pure hatred. The rivalry between Glasgow's "Old Firm" sides is the most famous in world football. It's the game's flagship loathing, proof of the power of the sport to inspire profound levels of tribal loyalty and a near-Pavlovian revulsion at anything to do with a rival. We examine the situation and try to get a handle on the political, religious, and national identity clashes that have shaped the rivalry, speak to fanzine editors on both sides of the divide and travel with the Bhoys' away support to a match at Tannadice.
