Block Island Rhode Island is a small island where I used to hang with my family and friends in the summer time growing up (WHAT A SENTENCE! My 9th Grade english teacher would kill me for that.) We used to go to the beach, build sandcastles, body surf, get burgers and hot dogs from the concession stand, go to the movies at night even though they were wicked old, jump off bridges, play bingo at the fire station, go to eat at restaurants like the oar and beach head and pizza places and in town and shit. I used to work as a short order sandwich boy and i sliced the absolute shit out of my hand doing avocados. I used to play EVERY SINGLE CARD GAME IMAGINABLE which is why I'm so good at every game. I dunno it was a place I grew up and I want you guys to be a part of my life and know more about me.

Block Island is part of the U.S. state of Rhode Island and is located in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 13 miles (21 km) south of the coast of Rhode Island, 14 miles (23 km) east of Montauk Point on Long Island, and is separated from the Rhode Island mainland by Block Island Sound. The United States Census Bureau defines Block Island as Census Tract 415 of Washington County, Rhode Island. As of the 2010 census the population of 1,051 lived on a land area of 9.734 square miles (25.211 km2). The island is part of the Outer Lands region, a coastal archipelago made by the recessional and terminal moraine that resulted from the Wisconsonian Laurentide glacier retreat, about 22,000 years ago.
The Nature Conservancy added Block Island to its list of "The Last Great Places." The list consists of twelve sites in the Western Hemisphere. Approximately 40 percent of the Island is set aside for conservation. Presidents Bill Clinton,Dwight D. Eisenhower,Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Ulysses S. Grant have visited Block Island. It is also said that the famous, Amelia Earhart had visited Block Island before her final trip /Verified information/.

This is some video from our August, 2014 cruise to Block Island. We visit Block Island every year and always stay at Payne's Dock. We've been doing that for at least the last 25 years.We've posted this video for use on our blog, silverton34c.blogspot.com where we have lots of other pictures of this cruise. If you are a New England boater, you've probably been to Block and if not, you should try it. We'd be glad to answer questions. Just post below and we'll do our best.
