The Bay Area has a rich history of producing Olympians, and it's looking like a rich year for local Olympians yet again.

Cal stars Nathan Adrian, Missy Franklin and Anthony Ervin all qualified at the US swim trials in June, as did Stanford stars Katie Ledecky and Simone Manuel. Locals are among the women's volleyball team, the diving team and more.

Seventy-one of the 530 athletes that represented Team USA in London had Bay Area connections, and in Beijing, Bay Area athletes combined for 24 total medals.

To put that in perspective, those 24 medals would have tied Cuba for 12th place in total medals, placing above countries such as Canada (19 medals) and Spain (18 medals).

Curious what some of the Bay Area's greatest Olympians are up to these days?
