Visited last October, Richmond Castle is located on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales and sits high above the River Swale. It stands in the middle of the market town of Richmond. We have never been to the see the Castle even though we have visited Helmsley many times in the past. As we were going around Helmsley Walled Garden, which is near the castle, we decided to make a full day of the lovely weather and visit it. A very interesting afternoon.

https://www.facebook.com/IntheFootstepsofRichardIII?ref=hl Perhaps no other castle had as much meaning for Richard than the imposing stone walls of Middleham. So many significant events in his life took place within the keep of this impressive edifice -- events that would change Richard as well as the country. From his days in the Earl's household to his days as King of England, Middleham would hold both happy and depressing memories for Richard III.
