Karwar: The altruism of Kannada film director Guruprasad has given a person thought to be mentallychallenged a second chance in life.
Guruprasad said he was recently shooting his new movie 'Eradane Sala' in Gokarna. "I was looking for a mentally challenged person for a character in my movie. In Gokarna, I noticed a person with a long beard and torn clothes. He was begging for food from locals and I decided to pick him for my film. But, it was not easy. I approached him and tried to gain his confidence. I spoke to him and surprisingly he reacted positively. I spoke to him for over an hour. I then realised he was not mentally challenged and circumstances had pushed him to this sorry plight," said Guruprasad.
"He is suffering from partial amnesia. But he was not mentally retarded, as people believed. He told me his story. He has forgotten his real name but said he's from Mangaluru. A few years ago, he lost his father and family members and then moved to Mumbai. He was shocked by the tragedies and lost his memory. He came to Gokarna a few months ago and was wandering around like a beggar. People were under the impression he was mentally retarded," he added.
Guruprasad realised the man needed psychiatric treatment and asked him if he was ready to act in a movie. "Initially, he was hesitant but later agreed to it. I had two conditions. He should shave his beard, have a haircut and have a bath. Secondly, he should wear clean clothes. Once he agreed to it, we bought clothes worth Rs 5,000 for him and brought him to the hotel. After a shave and haircut, he looked quite normal. Now, we call him Muttanna. We brought him to Bangaluru on Tuesday night and he is with us now," he said.
Muttanna will be given psychiatric treatment and act in the movie. "I'll give him a job in our company," Guruprasad said.

Pierre David Guetta (7 November 1967), known professionally as David Guetta (French pronunciation: [daˌvid ɡɛˈta]), is a French house music producer and DJ. Originally a DJ at nightclubs during the 1980s and 1990s, he co-founded Gum Productions and released his first album, Just a Little More Love, in 2002. Later, he released Guetta Blaster (2004) and Pop Life (2007). His 2009 album One Love included the hit singles "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland), "Gettin' Over You" (featuring Chris Willis, Fergie & LMFAO) and "Sexy Bitch" (featuring Akon), the last becoming a top five hit in the United States and all three reaching #1 in the United Kingdom, as well as another internationally known single called "Memories" featuring Kid Cudi which became a top five hit in many countries. Guetta has sold over three million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. He is currently one of the most sought-after music producers. As at 2012 David Guetta is the world's most popular DJ, claiming the #1 poll position of the DJ Mag 100 popularity poll.

Karwar: The altruism of Kannada film director Guruprasad has given a person thought to be mentallychallenged a second chance in life.
Guruprasad said he was recently shooting his new movie 'Eradane Sala' in Gokarna. "I was looking for a mentally challenged person for a character in my movie. In Gokarna, I noticed a person with a long beard and torn clothes. He was begging for food from locals and I decided to pick him for my film. But, it was not easy. I approached him and tried to gain his confidence. I spoke to him and surprisingly he reacted positively. I spoke to him for over an hour. I then realised he was not mentally challenged and circumstances had pushed him to this sorry plight," said Guruprasad.
"He is suffering from partial amnesia. But he was not mentally retarded, as people believed. He told me his story. He has forgotten his real name but said he's from Mangaluru. A few years ago, he lost his father and family members and then moved to Mumbai. He was shocked by the tragedies and lost his memory. He came to Gokarna a few months ago and was wandering around like a beggar. People were under the impression he was mentally retarded," he added.
Guruprasad realised the man needed psychiatric treatment and asked him if he was ready to act in a movie. "Initially, he was hesitant but later agreed to it. I had two conditions. He should shave his beard, have a haircut and have a bath. Secondly, he should wear clean clothes. Once he agreed to it, we bought clothes worth Rs 5,000 for him and brought him to the hotel. After a shave and haircut, he looked quite normal. Now, we call him Muttanna. We brought him to Bangaluru on Tuesday night and he is with us now," he said.
Muttanna will be given psychiatric treatment and act in the movie. "I'll give him a job in our company," Guruprasad said.
