Jamie Foxx

Eric Marlon Bishop (born December 13, 1967), known professionally as Jamie Foxx, is an American actor, singer, and comedian. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor, BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, for his work in the 2004 biographical film Ray. The same year, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the action film Collateral.

Other prominent acting roles include the title role in the film Django Unchained (2012), the supervillain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and William Stacks in the 2014 version of Annie. Foxx also starred in the 1990-1994 sketch comedy show In Living Color and his own television show from 1996 to 2001, the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show, in which he played Jamie King Jr.

Foxx is also a Grammy Award-winning musician, producing four albums which have charted highly on the US Billboard 200: Unpredictable (2005), which topped the chart, Intuition (2008), Best Night of My Life (2010), and Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses (2015).

A Story

A Story is an album by Yoko Ono, recorded in 1974, during the "lost weekend" sessions in which John Lennon produced Walls and Bridges. It was unreleased until the 1992 box set Onobox, which featured material from A Story on disc six. It was only properly released as an individual album in 1997, with the reissuing of Ono's back catalogue by Rykodisc. The reissue added three bonus tracks, including home demos and a live recording from the Starpeace tour.

A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)

"A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)" is a song by American recording artist Monica, taken from her fifth studio album The Makings of Me (2006). It was written by rapper-producer Missy Elliott and Corte Ellis, with production helmed by the former along with David "Davey Boy" Lindsey and Cliff Jones. Similar to songs that Monica used to record with Elliott for her previous album, After the Storm (2003), the mid-tempo love song draws from the genres from R&B, hip hop, neo soul, as well as quiet storm and contains limited elements of 1960s Motown soul music. Built around a sample of the 1972 recording "The Makings of You", written and performed by Curtis Mayfield, its lyrics detail a woman's admiration for a man.

The song was released as the album's second single in the United States on September 28, 2006. It garnered generally positive reviews by music critics who compared it to R. Kelly's "You Remind Me of Something" (1995) and praised Elliott's nostalgic, cozy and unpretentious production. "A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)" peaked at number 48 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, on which it became the singer's lowest-charting singles since 1999's "Street Symphony". The music video for "A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)", directed Chris Robinson, was filmed in Los Angeles in October 2006 and depicts a meet cute between two lovers.

Hollywood

Early history and development

In 1853, one adobe hut stood in Nopalera (Nopal field), named for the Mexican Nopal cactus indigenous to the area. By 1870, an agricultural community flourished. The area was known as the Cahuenga Valley, after the pass in the Santa Monica Mountains immediately to the north.
