Mongolia i/mɒŋˈɡoʊliə/ (Mongolian: ᠮᠤᠩᠭᠤᠯ
ᠤᠯᠤᠰ [Monggol Ulus] in Mongolian script; Монгол Улс [Mongol Uls] in Mongolian Cyrillic) is a sovereign state in east-central Asia. It is bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east and west. While they do not share a border, Mongolia is separated from Kazakhstan by only 36.76 kilometres (22.84 mi). Ulaanbaatar, the capital and largest city, is home to about 45% of the population.
The area of what is now Mongolia has been ruled by various nomadic empires, including the Xiongnu, the Xianbei, the Rouran, the Turkic Khaganate, and others. In 1206, Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire, and his grandson Kublai Khan conquered China to establish the Yuan dynasty. After the collapse of the Yuan, the Mongols retreated to Mongolia and resumed their earlier pattern of factional conflict, except during the era of Dayan Khan and Tumen Zasagt Khan. In the 16th century, Tibetan Buddhism began to spread in Mongolia, being further led by the Manchu-founded Qing dynasty, which absorbed the country in the 17th century. By the early 1900s, almost one-third of the adult male population were Buddhist monks.

It is a vast emptiness that links land and sky, and is one of the last few places on the planet where nomadic life is still a living tradition. Mongolia may have various geopolitical, cultural and geographical meanings. Mongolia consists of historic Outer Mongolia. The province of Inner Mongolia is geographically and politically separate and located in northern part of China yet it shares common borders with Mongolia. An adventure into an amazing country. 4 seasons packed into 15 days The Summer: the Gobi is not just a desert. Is a unique region comprising of mountains, sand dunes, grass lands and flat pans. Life here is though not only physically (due to the arid climate) but also mentally: before reaching the mountains and the dunes, the so-called "middle Gobi" is an immense flat pan with no landmarks for miles. It's mental as it seems to be in an infinite area that will never end. The Spring: the Orhon valley. This is the Mongolia typical postcard. Green land and blue sky dotted with white ghers (the local typical tents) and clouds. Full of livestock, every valley in the region shows the nomadic life of Mongolians that has been going on for centuries. In the town of Karkhorin, very little ruins bri...
Konki and his family live near Deluun Village, in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia, where the last six generations of his bloodline have continued the art and tradition of eagle hunting. At the age of 29, Konki has spent 21 of his years herding animals as a way to support his family. After the tragic loss of his father two years ago, Konki felt a call to his father’s passion of eagle hunting. This changed the course of his life, allowing him to connect not only with family he’s lost, but the one he still has. His cousin Onei is teaching him as they travel across the vast, sprawling tundra and majestic mountains of their homeland. He also plans to pass down what he learns to his four-year-old son, Berdibek, who has already taken an interest in the eagles. Konki's new path ensures...
License Video: http://dissolve.com/products?media_type=video&producer;=Pete+R&sort;_by_date=true Mongolia is definitely one of the best country I've been to so far, way up there with New Zealand! I spent 2 weeks in Mongolia, starting my trip in Ulaanbator and went off independantly with my friends to Sainshand for a few days before going on a week tour in the Gobi desert. During those time I had the opportunity to experience what life is like living as a nomad, not having electricity, internet access, flushing toilets, a regular shower and needless to say, I came out of this experience a changed man. Without those things life is so much simpler, yet so much fun! The people you meet in Mongolia are the best kind of people, the people that like adventure, the people that don't mind shitting...
10 Days. 1 awesome adventure. Wild and untamed. That's Mongolia. One of my roughest road trips ever (probably cos there isn't any road most of the time)! Pardon the shaky camera cos the drive was very bumpy. Long treks through forests, hikes up mountains and an extinct volcano, and climbs into caves. The sights were so worth it. Pee-peed openly in public. Milked a cow and got slapped in the face by its tail. You gotta tug at its udders. What I did probably felt like tickles. Hugged a 2-day-old calf. Awww... Horse-riding was crazy thrilling! Our local guide got thrown off her horse. She landed on her feet with only blisters on her fingers. Mad skills indeed. Met travellers in their 70s, super fit and still kicking ass. How inspiring. Tasted horse milk. So sour. It's like drinking yoghurt. T...
First attempt at a trailer for the video of "the long way to Bangkok." I decided to make a few trailers just to give me a chance to practice before I go ahead and make the real thing - and to check all my software and hardware can cope with the HD video content. I'm off to the countryside tomorrow to do some Muay Thai for a couple of weeks so won't have another chance to practice for a little while - but will get to work on some more light hearted trailers! I hope this trailer conveys some of the epic scenes we encountered on our journey to Bangkok. The map is a bit blurred I know...need to find a higher res map so If anyone has one... All video content straight from the camera - always learning new things about video...I already wish I had taken more footage and used a higher contrast ...
