Roger Waters - Comfortably Numb 2022
"Comfortably Numb 2022" by Roger Waters
Before lockdown I had been working on a demo of a new version of ‘Comfortably Numb’ as an opener to our new show "This Is Not A Drill. I pitched it a whole step down, in A Minor, to make it darker and arranged it with no solos, except over the outro, where there is a heartrendingly beautiful vocal solo from one of our new sisters Shanay Johnson. It’s intended as a wakeup call, and a bridge towards a kinder future with more talking to strangers, either in "The Bar or just “Passing in the Street" and less slaughter “In Some Foreign Field. Here it is. Love R. The video is by Sean Evans. The mix is by Gus Seyffert.

Pink Floyd - One Slip
[ Adapted, Re-edited, Re-equalized & REMASTERED by Obi Wan Kenobi ]
After some days of editing work I could finally bring to life the "extended unreleaded"
version of Pink Floyd's One Slip from the Delicate Sound Of Thunder set.
The soundtrack I've reworked for this remastering IS NOT THE 2019 RE-EDITION
NOR ANY OTHER OFFICIAL RELEASED VERSION OF THE SONG; this one came directly
from the soundboard of the August 20 show (after used for the movie).
I got it from an old and mostly forgotten limited edition from DSOT sampler tape that
was running back on it's release time.
This is the REAL full extended version performed by the band back then, without the 30
seconds cut out from the Guy Pratt's bass solo part and it's post modifications for the
releases of 198...

Pink Floyd - Zabriskie Point Soundtrack (1997 Bonus Tracks)
The original soundtrack for the 1970 Michelangelo Antonioni film, Zabriskie Point was supposed to have been composed entirely by Pink Floyd. Instead, the director scrapped most of their material, and only three songs were included. In 1997, a re-issue of the soundtrack was released on CD, with these four bonus tracks. A beautiful Rick Wright piano solo, a blues jam akin to More Blues, an acoustic jam, and a great song known as the Country Song on the CD track listing, or on the Early Years Box Set as Auto Scene version 1 and Looking at Map.
The Early Years Box Set Volume 4 - 1970 Devi/ation has a disc almost entirely devoted to the Zabriskie Point sessions that is totally worth checking out.

One year after and having renewed my old computer after it's death in last September,
I'm back with the fifth episode of my "Nassau Extended Unreleased" series, and this time
it comes with some new features such as improved video quality in 4K and 5.1 surround audio
taking advantage of my new and more powerful hardware, impossible things with my previous PC.
For those who are not familiar with this project; THIS IS NOT THE 2019 RE-EDITION NOR ANY
OTHER OFFICIAL RELEASED VERSION OF THE SONG, this is a REAL register from those
magical Nassau Coliseum´s nights back in 1988.
My starting point was my master record from the August 20th night and as usual hours of
experimentation, then rebuilded the video to match the song as perfectly as the logic allowed me.
This one will be also special because this is my first 5.1 surround release; and again, THIS IS NOT
THAT 6 CHANNEL VERSION THAT CAME WITH THE OFFICIAL 2019 RESTORED RELEASE.
The process here became even longer since the transformation of the track into the 5.1 architecture
was a new air for me, and complicated and challenging as well, and my goal was to recreate a pure
live sound but getting rid of that weird back reverb flavor present in the official release, just like
my previous remasters and adding the strenght of multichannel dymamics.
"I can't explain, you would not understand", but it's impossible to sintheticly describe this part of
the process, but it was just like playing a puzzle game where priorizing certain pieces, lowered others,
move aside others and inventing some just "to fill the empty spaces"; were days and days and days
of experiments and testing of trial and error.
Some of the features & editing process summary:
â–ª Mainly PURE LIVE SOUND: dry, cleaner and organic
â–ª 5.1 SURROUND (6 channel audio) sound enforcing the live nuances and avoiding reverbs
â–ª LOSSLESS encoding, ensuring the BEST VIDEO QUALITY for this footage on YouTube!
â–ª Video rebuilded and improved certain image details
â–ª Spacial treatment for voices, instruments, sounds and effects
â–ª Several segments were isolated, rebalanced and reinserted to enlighting specific passages
â–ª Rick Wright keyboard solo was specially reworked to create the "floating" effect
â–ª Added crowd ambience and other effects
â–ª Re-equalized and improved general dynamics
â–ª General info: final video weight 30 Gb (lossless re-encoding) / final 6 ch. soundtrack 700 Mb (lossless 32 bits)
About the 5.1 surround specification.
This is a REAL 5.1 surround (6 channel) soundtrack and the first I'm publishing here. Keep in mind
that the 5.1 feature is only available through desktop computers or in newer and specific devices
such as some smartv apps, like some Samsung UHD from 2021 and newer for example.
🔺Some recommendations:
â–ª Even though this is a real 5.1 surround (6 chennel) audio and I developed it to performing
decently well in any enviroment, if you don't have a 5.1 system or even if you do have one,
but it isn't properly configurated in terms of satellites placements and volumes, would be
better to play it in Stereo mode, otherwise the performance could not be as expected.
â–ª I strongly encourage you to play my tracks using SPEAKERS and SPECIALLY THIS ONE
IN PARTICULAR. The reason is that I work each remaster based on an "air monitoring";
I mean, using the sound through air just like live sound normally unfolds, and even though
headphones will work, the experience will always be better over a speaker based system.

Roger Waters and Nick Mason meet while studying architecture at what is now known as the University of Westminster. Eventually, they both joined a band called Sigma 6, although at one point the band was called the Meggadeaths and they eventually settled on the name The Tea Set. Waters played lead guitar and Mason played drums. There was also Keith Noble, Clive Metcalfe, and another fellow architecture student named Richard Wright who played keyboard. For lack of a better word, The Tea Set was a standard rock band that specialized in R&B; covers.
However, soon Noble and Metcalfe left the band, and others took their place. There was Bob Klose, who played lead guitar after Waters shifted to bass guitar. Klose introduced Waters to Chris Dennis, who became their new lead singer. Meanwhile, Syd Barrett, a childhood friend of Waters, also joined up with them playing guitar. In December 1964, they recorded for the first time at a studio that one of Wright’s friends let them use.
In early 1965, the Royal Air Force assigned Dennis to Bahrain, so Barrett stepped in to become the band’s new singer. A few months later, they became the resident band at the Countdown Club in London. Each night into the wee hours they played three 90-minute sets. This was when their songs got longer with more solos and they, dare I say, got more experimental with their sound. In the summer, after pressure from his parents and teachers, Klose quit the band to focus on his studies, and Barrett also took over lead guitar.
After going through various more name changes, by the end of 1965 the four of them- Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright- were now billing themselves Pink Floyd. The name came from the combined names of two American blues musicians Barrett loved, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.
Pink Floyd played lots of gigs throughout 1966, and even started to get paid for them! Led by Barrett, their sound was a weird mix of rock, blues, and even music hall. Ultimately, their sound distinctly became known as psychedelic, meaning music influenced by psychedelic drugs…hallucinogenic drugs that created weird states of consciousness. Barrett, in particular, became a regular user of LSD, and that heavily influenced the band’s music. The author Lewis Carroll also heavily influenced Barrett’s lyrics.

Chorus 1:
There is no pain, you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb

This is the REAL full extended version performed by the band back then, without the 30
seconds cut out from the Guy Pratt's bass solo part and it's post modifications for the
releases of 1989, 2019 & 2020 respectively, so that accurate ears could spot some slight
different sound details and arrangements, but remember, this is the raw played song.
To make this full enjoyable I've took the last DSOT 2019 restored version, adapted and
synchronized it to match this audio as perfectly as I could.
Of course I've also edited the soundtrack to add dinamic volume and inhance a lot of
instrument details, increase crowd ambience, fix a 3 seconds missing in the intro where
the sampler goes and finally re-equalized it.
Hope you like & enjoy it.
=====
