Iron Fist 2016 Official Promo By IAF
Indian Air Force (
IAF) is to showcase its combat capabilities through frontline fighters in war exercise code named "IRON
FIST 2016" in
Pokhran on
18th March 2016. The motto of this year's
Iron Fist is "Demonstrating The
Capability To
Punish"
.... "
Weapons On Target...
On Time". A total of
181 aircraft of IAF will participate in total 53 events in Pokhran located on the sensitive western border of
India adjoining hostile
Pakistan. Out of these 103 would be fighters, 53 helicopters, 19 transport aircrafts.
Iron First exercise is being held after every 3 years last once was in
2013.
Indian Air Force has released the official promotional film of Iron Fist 2016 to media to give a peep into the high electric fire power display.
For the first time, demonstration capability of
Akash Missile System and firng of
Astra beyond visual range will be demonstrated in addition to the swing force capability of the
Tejas in which
LCA Tejas will drop a laser guided bomb and fire an air to air
R73 missile along with rocket firing to engage the enemy.
The indigenously developed
Light Combat Helicopter will fire rocket to engage enemy armour. For joint operation capability demo in counter surface and support ops, IAF will demonstrate capability by both fixed and rotary aircrafts.
IAF has confirmed to demonstrate the air borne assault capability of
C-17 Globemaster by dropping IAF's Garud para commandos all being trained as paratroopers.
C-130 will carry out assault landing at
Chandan Range in Pokhran.
The puropose of Iron Fist is to fight the army, navy and air force of the enemy during the war day and night, a capability demonstrated by only IAF in
Indian subcontinent. IAF can'st demonstrate its Anti-ship capabilities as Pokhran range is a desert.
Sarang air display, low level aerobatics by Su-30mki, air warrior drill team and air symphony orchestra will also enthral the audience.
Rohini Radar and
Integrated Air Command and
Control System will control the movement of 181 aircrafts operating from different bases.
Off late IAF has developed significant indigenisation and about 52 per cent components are developed indigenously.
The operational network centric capability is designed in 6 integrated packages. Some pointers are as follows:
Package-1:
Transformation of Indian Air Force from Tigermoth to
Su-30, from vintage aircrafts to
Pilatus.
Fighter aircraft flypast also includes performance by
Suryakiran team.
Package-2:
Network Centric flypast by
AWACS.
Demo of lethal ordnance in synchronised multimode precision and non precision bombs.
Package-3:
Light combat aircraft demo of swing role capabilities.
Combat support and rescue operations demo.
Firing demo by IGLA.
Package-4: Combat support operations of IAF by all aircrafts. For the first time, rocket firing by light combat helicopter (
LCH).
