H2S Molecular Geometry / Shape and Bond Angles
H2S Molecular Geometry / Shape and Bond Angles
A quick explanation of the molecular geometry of H2S including a description of the H2S bond angles. Looking at the H2S Lewis structure we can see that there are two pairs of unbounded valence electrons on the Sulfur atom. Based on VSEPR Theory (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory) these electrons will repel the electron clouds of the two other atoms and unbounded electron pairs. As a result they will be pushed down giving the H2S molecule a bent molecular geometry or shape The H2S bond angle will be about 109.5 degrees since it has a Bent molecular geometry. Both H2S and H2O have similar molecular geometries and bond angles. Get more chemistry help at http://www.thegeoexchange.org/chemistry/bonding/- published: 02 Nov 2013

CO3 2- Molecular Geometry / Shape and Bond Angles
A quick explanation of the molecular geometry of CO3 2- including a description of the CO3 2- bond angles. Looking at the CO3 2- Lewis structure we can see that there are three atoms attached to the central Carbon (C) atom and that there are no lone pairs of electron (on the central C). Based on VSEPR Theory (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory) the electron clouds of the atoms around the Carbon will repel each other. As a result they will be pushed apart giving the CO3 2- molecule a trigonal planar molecular geometry or shape. The CO3 2- bond angle will be about 120 degrees since it has a trigonal planar molecular geometry. Get more chemistry help at http://www.thegeoexchange.org/chemistry/bonding/- published: 08 Nov 2013

A quick explanation of the molecular geometry of H2O including a description of the H2O bond angles. Looking at the H2O Lewis structure we can see that there are two atoms attached to the central Oxygen (O) atom and that there are two pair of lone pair of electrons (on the central O). Based on VSEPR Theory (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory) the electron clouds and lone pair electron around the O will repel each other. As a result they will be pushed apart giving the H2O molecule a bent molecular geometry or shape. The H2O bond angle will be about 109.5 degrees since it has a bent molecular geometry. O3 Molecular Geometry / Shape and Bond Angles
A quick explanation of the molecular geometry of O3 including a description of the O3 bond angles. Looking at the O3 Lewis structure we can see that there are a pair of unbounded valence electrons at the top of the structure. Based on VSEPR Theory (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory) these electrons will repel the electron clouds of the two Oxygen atoms on the end. As a result they will be pushed down giving the O3 molecule a bent molecular geometry or shape. The O3 bond angle will be 116 degrees since it has a Bent molecular geometry.- published: 06 Oct 2013
