Eclipsed conformation

In chemistry an eclipsed conformation is a conformation in which two substituents X and Y on adjacent atoms A, B are in closest proximity, implying that the torsion angle X-A-B-Y is 0°. Such a conformation exists in any open chain, single chemical bond connecting two sp³hybridised atoms, and it is normally a conformational energy maximum. This maximum is often explained by steric hindrance, but its origins sometimes actually lie in hyperconjugation (as when the eclipsing interaction is of two hydrogen atoms).

In the example of ethane in Newman projection it shows that rotation around the carbon-carbon bond is not entirely free but that an energy barrier exists. The ethane molecule in the eclipsed conformation is said to suffer from torsional strain and by a rotation around the carbon carbon bond to the staggered conformation around 12.5 kJ/mol of torsional energy is released.

Evans Blue

Evans Blue is an alternative rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada founded in 2005. Altogether, they have sold over 1 million albums worldwide, including four studio albums and one live album.

History

Origins (2005)

Evans Blue came together in early 2005. Five musicians, then in three separate bands, met through a local musician's message board. Lead singer Kevin Matisyn suggested the name, which refers to the dye that is injected into the bloodstream to measure blood volume, which he had read in one of his medical books. The band then caught the attention of producer Trevor Kustiak (Cool for August) and his partner Mari Dew, of The Pocket Studios. The original lead guitarist, Kevin Smith, left due to personal reasons before the group secured a record label.

They recorded three demo songs, titled "Black Hole", "Saturnalia" and "Starlight", all of which were available on their personal MySpace page. At that time, updates on the bands' progress and prose by former lead singer, Kevin Matisyn were periodically given via the MySpace blogs.

Danai Gurira

Danai Jekesai Gurira (born February 14, 1978) is a Zimbabwean American actress and playwright, best known for her role as Michonne on The Walking Dead, an AMC television horror drama series.

Early life

Gurira was born in Grinnell, Iowa to Josephine Gurira, a university librarian, and Roger Gurira, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. Her parents came to the United States from Southern Rhodesia (what is today Zimbabwe) in 1964. She is the youngest of four siblings; Shingai (eldest) and Choni are her sisters and her brother Tare is a chiropractor. Gurira lived in Grinnell until December 1983, when at age five she and her family moved back to Harare, Zimbabwe after the country had gained independence.

She attended high school at Dominican Convent High School. Afterward, Gurira returned to the United States to study at Macalester College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She considers her experience of growing up in Zimbabwe and then returning to the United States to have had a major influence on her perspective. Gurira also earned a Master of Fine Arts in acting from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Amondi Nyong'o (Kenyan English: [luˈpiːtɑː ˈɲɔːŋɔ]; born March 1, 1983) is a Mexican-Kenyan actress and film director. She was born in Mexico to Kenyan parents, and raised in Kenya. She attended college in the United States, earning a Bachelor's degree in film and theater studies from Hampshire College.

Nyong'o started in the film industry as a production assistant on several Hollywood films. In 2008, she made her acting debut with the short film East River and subsequently returned to Kenya to star in the television series Shuga (2009). In 2009, she wrote, produced and directed the documentary In My Genes.

Nyong'o later completed a master's degree in acting in 2012, from the Yale School of Drama. She had her first feature film role as Patsey in Steve McQueen's historical drama 12 Years a Slave (2013), winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Nyong'o is the first Kenyan actress and the first Mexican actress to win an Academy Award. In 2014, she was named "The Most Beautiful Woman" by People and "Woman of the Year" by Glamour.

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is a real-time strategy computer game by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the official expansion pack to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, requiring Reign of Chaos to play. Released worldwide on July 1, 2003, it includes new units for each race, two new auxiliary races, four campaigns, five neutral heroes (an additional neutral hero was added April 2004 and two more were added in August 2004), the ability to build a shop and other improvements such as the ability to queue upgrades. Sea units were reintroduced; they had been present in Warcraft II but were absent in Reign of Chaos. Blizzard Entertainment has released patches for the game to fix bugs, extend the scripting system, and balance multiplayer.

Gameplay

Additions

For each race, The Frozen Throne adds several new units and buildings, including a player-controlled shop, and one new hero per race. Two new auxiliary races, the Naga and Draenei, have also been added. The Naga feature in all four campaigns, and as playable units, allies, and enemies; while the Draenei, which are actually more sophisticated creeps, are found only in the Blood Elf missions. Both can be put in custom maps if their worker units (the Naga Mur'gul Slave or the Draenei laborer) are added via the World Editor. The old siege engines of the Humans, Orcs and Night Elves have been renamed and remodeled, receiving new upgrades in the process. The food limit has been increased from 90 to 100, and the upkeep requirements have been relaxed by 10 food units each, leading to the ability to mobilize somewhat larger and more powerful forces.
