After returning with the jewels, Emmerich (Louis Calhern) and his private dick Brannom (Brad Dexter) double cross Dix (Sterling Hayden) and Doc (Sam Jaffe).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Asphalt Jungle is a brilliantly conceived and executed anatomy of a crime -- or, as director John Huston and scripter Ben Maddow put it, "a left-handed form of human endeavor." Recently paroled master criminal Erwin "Doc" Riedenschneider (Sam Jaffe), with funding from crooked attorney Emmerich (Louis Calhern), gathers several crooks together in Cincinnati for a Big Caper. Among those involved are Dix (Sterling Hayden), an impoverished hood who sees the upcoming jewel heist as a means to finance his dream of owning a horse farm. Hunch-backed cafe owner (James Whitmore) is hired on to be the driver for the heist; professional safecracker Louis Ciavelli (Anthony Caruso) assembles the tools of his trade; and a bookie (Marc Lawrence) acts as Emmerich's go-between. The robbery is pulled off successfully, but an alert night watchman shoots Ciavelli. Corrupt cop (Barry Kelley), angry that his "patsy" (Lawrence) didn't let him in on the caper, beats the bookie into confessing and fingering the other criminals involved. From this point on, the meticulously planned crime falls apart with the inevitability of a Greek tragedy. Way down on the cast list is Marilyn Monroe in her star-making bit as Emmerich's sexy "niece"; whenever The Asphalt Jungle would be reissued, Monroe would figure prominently in the print ads as one of the stars. The Asphalt Jungle was based on a novel by the prolific W.R. Burnett, who also wrote Little Caesar and Saint Johnson (the fictionalized life story of Wyatt Earp).

Brad Dexter
Brad Dexter (April 9, 1917 – December 12, 2002) was an American actor.
Life and career
Dexter was born Boris Michel Soso in Goldfield, Nevada to Serbian immigrant parents. He spoke Serbian as his first language. The family soon decamped for Los Angeles, California, where he attended Belmont High School. Burly, dark and handsome, Dexter was usually given supporting roles of a rugged character. Early in his acting career, he went by the name of Barry Mitchell.
After a stint as an amateur boxer, Dexter attended the Pasadena Playhouse where he studied acting. During World War II he enlisted for military service with the U.S. Army Air Corps and appeared in the Corps play and film Winged Victory. His career in Hollywood spanned over four decades. Other films Dexter appeared in include The Asphalt Jungle, Run Silent, Run Deep, Last Train from Gun Hill, Kings of the Sun, Johnny Cool, Shampoo, Vigilante Force and House Calls.
Characterising him as a "tough guy at his best in the The Magnificent Seven", Dexter's obituary in The Guardian singles out his portrayal of Harry Luck and claims he was "overshadowed" by his contemporaries:

Roy Rogers
Roy Rogers (born Leonard Franklin Slye; November 5, 1911 – July 6, 1998) was an American singer and cowboy actor who was one of the most popular Western stars of his era. Known as the "King of the Cowboys", he appeared in over 100 films and numerous radio and television episodes of The Roy Rogers Show. In many of his films and television episodes, he appeared with his wife Dale Evans, his golden palomino Trigger, and his German Shepherd dog Bullet. His show ran on radio for nine years before moving to television from 1951 through 1957. His productions usually featured a sidekick, often Pat Brady, Andy Devine, or George "Gabby" Hayes. In his later years, Rogers lent his name to the Roy Rogers Restaurants franchised chain.
Biography
Early life
Rogers (Leonard Slye) was born to Mattie (née Womack) and Andrew "Andy" Slye in Cincinnati, Ohio. The family lived in a tenement building on 2nd Street, where Riverfront Stadium would later be constructed (Rogers would later joke that he was born at second base). Dissatisfied with his job and city life, Andy and his brother Will built a 12-by-50-foot (3.7 m × 15.2 m) houseboat from salvage lumber, and in July 1912 the Slye family traveled up the Ohio River towards Portsmouth, Ohio. Desiring a more stable existence in Portsmouth, they purchased land on which to build a house, but the Great Flood of 1913 allowed them to move the houseboat to their property and continue living in it on dry land.

After returning with the jewels, Emmerich (Louis Calhern) and his private dick Brannom (Brad Dexter) double cross Dix (Sterling Hayden) and Doc (Sam Jaffe).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Asphalt Jungle is a brilliantly conceived and executed anatomy of a crime -- or, as director John Huston and scripter Ben Maddow put it, "a left-handed form of human endeavor." Recently paroled master criminal Erwin "Doc" Riedenschneider (Sam Jaffe), with funding from crooked attorney Emmerich (Louis Calhern), gathers several crooks together in Cincinnati for a Big Caper. Among those involved are Dix (Sterling Hayden), an impoverished hood who sees the upcoming jewel heist as a means to finance his dream of owning a horse farm. Hunch-backed cafe owner (James Whitmore) is hired on to be the driver for the heist; professional safecracker Louis Ciavelli (Anthony Caruso) assembles the tools of his trade; and a bookie (Marc Lawrence) acts as Emmerich's go-between. The robbery is pulled off successfully, but an alert night watchman shoots Ciavelli. Corrupt cop (Barry Kelley), angry that his "patsy" (Lawrence) didn't let him in on the caper, beats the bookie into confessing and fingering the other criminals involved. From this point on, the meticulously planned crime falls apart with the inevitability of a Greek tragedy. Way down on the cast list is Marilyn Monroe in her star-making bit as Emmerich's sexy "niece"; whenever The Asphalt Jungle would be reissued, Monroe would figure prominently in the print ads as one of the stars. The Asphalt Jungle was based on a novel by the prolific W.R. Burnett, who also wrote Little Caesar and Saint Johnson (the fictionalized life story of Wyatt Earp).

State Ranger Roy Rogers helps his friend, Gabby, with the annual Heldorado Days Celebration, as well as investigating a counterfeit gang for the FBI. Gabby selects heiress Carol Randall to be Queen of the celebration, and appoints her a Deputy Sherriff. Roy is almost certain that society playboy, Alec Baxter, is distributing the fake bills through the gambling tables at the casino. Carol gets in the way constantly and Roy has to spend half of his time keeping her from spilling the beans to gang leader Mr. Driscoll. His investigation soon becomes a murder hunt with Ranger Rogers, Deputy Sherriff Dale, Manager Gabby, and The Sons of the Pioneers leading the chase!
This is the complete, 70 minute version of this film. Personally, I think this is one of Roy and Dale's best. It has plot, music, western excitement and really showcases Roy and Dale's talent. Dale's comedy is tops and she really shines as heiress Carol Randalll who is made an honorary Deputy Sherriff (which she takes full advantage of!)! She even gets to participate in the final showdown!
