Liquid-crystal display

A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat-panel display or other electronic visual display that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly.

LCDs are available to display arbitrary images (as in a general-purpose computer display) or fixed images with low information content, which can be displayed or hidden, such as preset words, digits, and 7-segment displays as in a digital clock. They use the same basic technology, except that arbitrary images are made up of a large number of small pixels, while other displays have larger elements.

Christmas Will Break Your Heart

"Christmas Will Break Your Heart" is a song by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. It was released as a digital download as well as a limited one-sided 7-inch vinyl on December 24, 2015, making it the band's first single in five years.

Background and recording

Prior to the song's release, in October 2015, there were rumors regarding a possible LCD Soundsystem reunion. It was stated in a Consequence of Sound article that "multiple sources" confirmed that the band would be reuniting in 2016 and that they would be headlining high-profile music festivals. Although this was also confirmed by Billboard, DFA Records label manager Kris Petersen and co-founder Jonathan Galkin both confirmed that LCD Soundsystem would not be reuniting.

Band frontman James Murphy calls "Christmas Will Break Your Heart" a "depressing Christmas song" which he had been singing to himself for years prior to its recording. The song was recorded at DFA Studios in New York City during 2015 after Murphy had gotten past band members Al Doyle, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, and Tyler Pope to come to the studio to record the track. The song was also mastered by American musician Bob Weston. Following the release of the song, it was confirmed in January 2016 by the band that they would be setting off on a reunion tour and would be releasing a new studio album some time in 2016.

Grand Theft Auto Online

Grand Theft Auto Online is a persistent, open world online multiplayer video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 1 October 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was released on 18 November 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a Microsoft Windows version on 14 April 2015. The game is the online multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto V. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas (based on Southern California), Grand Theft Auto Online allows up to 30 players to explore the open world and engage in cooperative or competitive game matches. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas, which includes open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos (based on Los Angeles).

Developed in tandem with the single-player mode, Grand Theft Auto Online was conceived as a separate experience, to be played in a continually evolving world. At release, it received generally positive reviews, with praise particularly directed at the scope and open-ended gameplay. Critics were polarised by the widespread technical issues at launch, which resulted in the inability to play missions, and loss of character data. It won divided year-end accolades, ranging from Biggest Disappointment to Best Multiplayer, from several gaming publications. The game also receives frequent updates that further expand on the game, which are available for free.

Break Your Heart

"Break Your Heart" is a song by English singer-songwriter Taio Cruz. The song serves as the lead single from his second studio album, Rokstarr (2009). It was written by Cruz and Fraser T Smith and produced by Smith. It was first released in the United Kingdom on 20 September 2009, followed by a release in the United States and other markets on 2 February 2010. The official remix version features American rapper Ludacris; that version was the single released in North American countries. The song, originally penned for Cheryl Cole, is an uptempo R&B song with synthpop and dance-pop elements, accompanied by Cruz's Auto-Tuned vocals. The song is lyrically a warning to someone about being a heartbreaker.

The song received mixed to positive reviews, critics commending its infectious sound, but noting that it was generic. The song peaked at number one in Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, and also within the top ten of many other countries. The accompanying music video features several scenes of Cruz on escapades with different women, including a speedboat compared to classic Diddy and a club scene with Ludacris in the American version.
