The FG-N is a digital recreation of one of the most classic discrete Class A British equalizers from the 70’s. All aspects of the circuit are modeled, including the rich harmonics and saturations that naturally occur when the equalizer is in use. The original model only contained one mid band, so we thought it would be nice to double it so that it has two mid bands. This equalizer is lush, fat, and bold. It sounds great on everything from drums to vocals, and can even add the perfect saturation to synth and electronic tracks
The FG-S is a digital recreation of one of the most famous British console equalizers from the 80’s. This equalizer also has rich harmonics and interactive mid bands with a fat musical tone. This is the ultimate workhorse mix eq that can be used on any track. It is great for surgical cutting strokes, or wide bell and shelf strokes for making drums and guitars punch out of the speakers.
The FG-116 is the most precise digital replication of the classic American FET limiter. No expense was spared to capture every nuance of this classic sounding compressor/limiter. From its trademark timing characteristics to the extremely musical sound of its transformer, the FG-116 will give engineers the musical and fat tone that has made the hardware so famous. The FG-116 sounds great on everything like lead vocals, drums, and bass guitars.
The FG-401 started as a recreation of the classic british console channel compressor, but morphed into quite a lot more. First, we gave it variable attack and release with increased range which added more tonal options. But then, we added an optimal transformer inout, and not just any transformer, the famous transformer from the British Class A Console! This adds a beautiful warmth and sheen to the compressor. Last, we added an entirely unique second circuit path that provides and additional smooth and rich tone. The FG-401 is perhaps the most versatile mix compressor in the world that can sound good on any source you feed into it!
Unlike so many ‘analog modeled’ equalizer plugins and compressors that simply recreate analog equalization and compression curves, the VMR models every nuance of the circuit paths and recreates all of the essential harmonics, saturations, phase, and interactivity that give the units their trademark tone.

In this introduction, Steven Slate takes you through the new FG-116 BLUE Series Compressors, including multiple audio tutorials that demonstrate how the pros use them to get the best results!
The FG-116 Blue Vintage recreates the sound of two “rev A” FET compressors. Both compressors sound rich, colorful, and musical.
Circuit 1 has the classic ‘mid forward’ character that has made the blue striped FET compressors so famous. It adds a wonderful coloration to the upper mids especially, and adds a warm presence to vocals, bass, drums, and guitars. Compared to the Black 116, it will have a softer top and bottom end, and more articulate transients due to the harmonic distortion in the midrange.
Circuit 2 is modeled after a “rev A” unit that had been updated and refurbished, and had a very unique and musical sound. Compared to Circuit 1, this model has much bigger lows and smoother mids and highs, making it sound quite stunning on drum room mics as well as vocals that need to have more bigness and don’t require the midrange push of Circuit 1.
Both Circuits have a Hi Pass Detective Filter that prevents low frequency content from triggering compression, which can sound really musical on a drum buss. Finally, the Mix/Knob allows you to parallel compress right inside the module, which is an ideal way to use this type of compression.
The FG-116 Blue Modern is a custom revision of the classic FET compressor that offers two unique circuits that blend the old school tone with new school topology. The output transformers have been cleaned up so that it will have no output saturation, and the attack has been decoupled from the release so that it can be set much slower than the hardware for more transient articulation. Both circuits of the Blue Modern sound hifi, punchy, musical, and yet, they still can achieve the classic aggressive tone that makes the FET compressors so famous.
Circuit 1 is somewhat similar to the Vintage in that it will have a bit of a forward sounding character, but it is much cleaner and more pristine. The attack is slow enough that this compressor can sound amazing on close drum mics with the slowest attack and fastest release. Try it on a snare to bring out the punch while extending the decay. The mix knob works great in this situation where you can slightly overcompress and dial it back. On bass you can get a very edgy sound on this same setting. By backing down the release you’ll start to tighten up the sound which can be great on kick drum.
Circuit 2 will have a more breathable and punchy low end and overall smoother response on the top end. It sounds amazing on drum buss with the Hi Pass filter engaged, and even full mixes can really benefit from this musical compressor! Yes, with the Blue Modern, with the attack on the slowest and release on fastest, then with the HP filter on, you can use it on full mix and compress about 10db, then back off the mix knob to about 25% for a seriously incredible energy and excitement.. Even in combination with another mix buss compressor like FG-Grey or FG-Red. This setting will be really great on a lot of mix material in all genres.. Try it on electronic drum beats too to make them pound out of the speakers.

Slate
Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock. Foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering, but instead is in planes perpendicular to the direction of metamorphic compression.
A very strong foliation is called "slaty cleavage". It is caused by strong compression causing fine grained clay flakes to regrow in planes perpendicular to the compression. When expertly "cut" by striking parallel to the foliation, with a specialized tool in the quarry, many slates will form smooth flat sheets of stone which have long been used for roofing, floor tiles, and other purposes. Slate is frequently grey in color, especially when seen, en masse, covering roofs. However, slate occurs in a variety of colors even from a single locality; for example, slate from North Wales can be found in many shades of grey, from pale to dark, and may also be purple, green or cyan. Slate is not to be confused with shale, from which it may be formed, or schist.

Hopefully this guide should help you understand how to slate a roof for small projects without getting into too much technical detail so it becomes overly complicated for beginners.

The FG-N is a digital recreation of one of the most classic discrete Class A British equalizers from the 70’s. All aspects of the circuit are modeled, including the rich harmonics and saturations that naturally occur when the equalizer is in use. The original model only contained one mid band, so we thought it would be nice to double it so that it has two mid bands. This equalizer is lush, fat, and bold. It sounds great on everything from drums to vocals, and can even add the perfect saturation to synth and electronic tracks
The FG-S is a digital recreation of one of the most famous British console equalizers from the 80’s. This equalizer also has rich harmonics and interactive mid bands with a fat musical tone. This is the ultimate workhorse mix eq that can be used on any track. It is great for surgical cutting strokes, or wide bell and shelf strokes for making drums and guitars punch out of the speakers.
The FG-116 is the most precise digital replication of the classic American FET limiter. No expense was spared to capture every nuance of this classic sounding compressor/limiter. From its trademark timing characteristics to the extremely musical sound of its transformer, the FG-116 will give engineers the musical and fat tone that has made the hardware so famous. The FG-116 sounds great on everything like lead vocals, drums, and bass guitars.
The FG-401 started as a recreation of the classic british console channel compressor, but morphed into quite a lot more. First, we gave it variable attack and release with increased range which added more tonal options. But then, we added an optimal transformer inout, and not just any transformer, the famous transformer from the British Class A Console! This adds a beautiful warmth and sheen to the compressor. Last, we added an entirely unique second circuit path that provides and additional smooth and rich tone. The FG-401 is perhaps the most versatile mix compressor in the world that can sound good on any source you feed into it!
Unlike so many ‘analog modeled’ equalizer plugins and compressors that simply recreate analog equalization and compression curves, the VMR models every nuance of the circuit paths and recreates all of the essential harmonics, saturations, phase, and interactivity that give the units their trademark tone.

The FG-116 Blue Vintage recreates the sound of two “rev A” FET compressors. Both compressors sound rich, colorful, and musical.
Circuit 1 has the classic ‘mid forward’ character that has made the blue striped FET compressors so famous. It adds a wonderful coloration to the upper mids especially, and adds a warm presence to vocals, bass, drums, and guitars. Compared to the Black 116, it will have a softer top and bottom end, and more articulate transients due to the harmonic distortion in the midrange.
Circuit 2 is modeled after a “rev A” unit that had been updated and refurbished, and had a very unique and musical sound. Compared to Circuit 1, this model has much bigger lows and smoother mids and highs, making it sound quite stunning on drum room mics as well as vocals that need to have more bigness and don’t require the midrange push of Circuit 1.
Both Circuits have a Hi Pass Detective Filter that prevents low frequency content from triggering compression, which can sound really musical on a drum buss. Finally, the Mix/Knob allows you to parallel compress right inside the module, which is an ideal way to use this type of compression.
The FG-116 Blue Modern is a custom revision of the classic FET compressor that offers two unique circuits that blend the old school tone with new school topology. The output transformers have been cleaned up so that it will have no output saturation, and the attack has been decoupled from the release so that it can be set much slower than the hardware for more transient articulation. Both circuits of the Blue Modern sound hifi, punchy, musical, and yet, they still can achieve the classic aggressive tone that makes the FET compressors so famous.
Circuit 1 is somewhat similar to the Vintage in that it will have a bit of a forward sounding character, but it is much cleaner and more pristine. The attack is slow enough that this compressor can sound amazing on close drum mics with the slowest attack and fastest release. Try it on a snare to bring out the punch while extending the decay. The mix knob works great in this situation where you can slightly overcompress and dial it back. On bass you can get a very edgy sound on this same setting. By backing down the release you’ll start to tighten up the sound which can be great on kick drum.
Circuit 2 will have a more breathable and punchy low end and overall smoother response on the top end. It sounds amazing on drum buss with the Hi Pass filter engaged, and even full mixes can really benefit from this musical compressor! Yes, with the Blue Modern, with the attack on the slowest and release on fastest, then with the HP filter on, you can use it on full mix and compress about 10db, then back off the mix knob to about 25% for a seriously incredible energy and excitement.. Even in combination with another mix buss compressor like FG-Grey or FG-Red. This setting will be really great on a lot of mix material in all genres.. Try it on electronic drum beats too to make them pound out of the speakers.

Installing Large format ungauged Slate tile with MLT leveling system. An Ungauged tile is a tile that varies in thickness from tile to tile. Almost all man made tiles are all gauged and are all uniform in thickness, most natural stone tiles are also gauged, but some are not, as is the case with this large format slate tile. The thickness of the tiles varies quite a bit from tile to tile. To install the tile so that the finished floor is acceptable, a thick bed of mud is used while installing the tile and the variation in thickness is absorbed by the thickness on the underside of the tile by the mortar. The thickness of the tiles varies quite a bit from tile to tile. To install the tile so that the finished floor is acceptable, a thick bed of mud is used while installing the tile and the variation in thickness is absorbed by the thickness on the underside of the tile by the mortar. To help keep the top side of the tile all in one plain, a leveling system that is designed to cope with ungauged tiles can be used.
The MLT leveling System, or Mechanical Lippage Tuning, is a tile leveling system designed to have a minimum of waste, and have many options for the installation of all kinds of tiles from 12”x12” and larger. This system has four kinds of base plates used for different types of installations. The most versatile is the porcelain tile base plate, there are also base plates designed for stone tile, offset joints and thin tiles. To use the system a strap with a base plate is placed at every corner of the tile and then a cap is slid onto the strap and tightened with the tool that resembles a gun. If needed the top caps can be removed to make adjustments or clean grout joints. The tile is then allowed to set and then all the reusable components are removed with the help of the tensioning tool. Some cleaning of the components may be needed, but all of them are reusable. I have used many types of leveling systems, (visit my channel to watch the videos) and have found this one to be the most versatile, the system has been well designed and has many options available for practically any tile installation where a leveling system would be beneficial, there is virtually no waste, and its reusable parts are very durable.
