"Carol Of The Bells" is based on an old Ukranian folk tune called "Shchedryk" which was associated with the coming New Year, originally celebrated in April. Composer Mykola Leontovych used this tune in 1904 along with lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky to create the version that everyone knows today. It gained popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, and was introduced to an even wider audience when it was used in the movie "Home Alone".
This piece can be heard a different speeds, but I prefer a slightly faster version, and I wanted to convey a real sense of energy with a forward-driving motion. I also incorporated the tunes "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".

As promised on the forums recently, here is Hans Zimmer's "Time," from the rather popular motion picture, Inception. No wonder Time has been the number one most requested piece on my channel for the past year. A request I did not mind recording, that is!
While recording this, I considered Hans' musical pallet: 4-5 chords throughout the piece, against a roaring bass, and dramatic contrasting differences in register. Leading me to agree with the few who mentioned that this piano seems to match this kind of piece well. As I said in the comments, how can you go wrong with a 9-foot Concert Grand Mason & Hamlin?! With such a depth in its bass, I had no choice.. Time had to be recorded on this piano!

This amazing video features Jarrod Radnich playing his original copyrighted arrangement of themes from Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean." "Carol Of The Bells" is based on an old Ukranian folk tune called "Shchedryk" which was associated with the coming New Year, originally celebrated in April. Composer Mykola Leontovych used this tune in 1904 along with lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky to create the version that everyone knows today. It gained popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, and was introduced to an even wider audience when it was used in the movie "Home Alone".
This piece can be heard a different speeds, but I prefer a slightly faster version, and I wanted to convey a real sense of energy with a forward-driving motion. I also incorporated the tunes "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".

While recording this, I considered Hans' musical pallet: 4-5 chords throughout the piece, against a roaring bass, and dramatic contrasting differences in register. Leading me to agree with the few who mentioned that this piano seems to match this kind of piece well. As I said in the comments, how can you go wrong with a 9-foot Concert Grand Mason & Hamlin?! With such a depth in its bass, I had no choice.. Time had to be recorded on this piano!
