A spiritual successor, sometimes called a spiritual sequel, is a successor to a work of fiction which does not build upon the storyline established by a previous work as do most traditional prequels or sequels, yet features many of the same elements, themes, and styles as its source material, thereby resulting in it being related or similar "in spirit" to its predecessor.
Due to the current nature of the publisher/developer system inherent in almost all computer games, as well as the continual purchase and takeovers (which sell the entire developer including its copyrights and trademarks) by conglomerate corporations, creative teams often fail to retain the copyright and trademark rights of their creations. This often makes attempts to create sequels for a product impossible for various reasons, such as the "core" of the studio being fired or replaced after completing a project while the parent company retains control of the copyrights and trademarks. A good example of this strategy is Electronic Arts, which has closed many studios while keeping their copyrights and trademarks, such as Bullfrog Productions, Origin Systems, and Westwood Studios.
"Allison Road" is a single from the Gin Blossoms.
In 1989, Robin Wilson passed by a sign on his way to El Paso that read "Next Exit Allison Road." His friend with whom he was riding had a sister named Allison, and so they stopped to take a picture. Five months later, Wilson had the picture and was bored. In a Billboard interview from 1994, he recalled:
I walked to the other room, sat down in front of the television and turned on CNN. And the moment the TV turned on I heard that little melody in my head; 'On Allison Road.' And I was like, 'Shit!' So I turned off the TV, climbed over the couch and went back in my bedroom and the song was pretty much done 20 minutes later.
The exit sign for Allison Road is located on I-10 in Roosevelt, Texas.
Silent Hills is a cancelled survival horror video game that was under development by Kojima Productions for PlayStation 4. Directed by Hideo Kojima, in collaboration with film director Guillermo del Toro, it was to be the tenth installment in the Silent Hill series.
Kojima was brought onto the project in September 2012 by Konami; the game was first revealed in August 2014 via P.T. (Playable Teaser), a critically praised demo that was released as a free download from the PlayStation Store. P.T. revealed the involvement of Del Toro, along with Norman Reedus as the voice and appearance of its protagonist.
The fate of the game's development was left in question due to rumors surrounding Kojima's future at Konami following the completion of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; on April 26, 2015, reports surfaced from del Toro and Reedus that Silent Hills had been cancelled. The next day, Konami officially confirmed the cancellation of the game.
In September 2012, Konami's president asked Hideo Kojima to direct the next Silent Hill installment. He accepted the offer with enthusiasm, and development began shortly thereafter, using Kojima Productions' Fox Engine.

What makes a game special to you? The unique gameplay? The story? The characters? A combination of these factors? Something else entirely? In this video I take a look at what makes Ragnarok Online special to me and what it means for a game to be a "Spiritual Successor."
“In my case, when I started looking for BMWs, I gravitated toward the 1991…the 1991 coupé is the last coupé they made in the E30…” says Delia Wolfe. “The 318IS is the ‘baby’ M3; it doesn’t put out as much horsepower or torque…but it was the spiritual successor, if you will, to the 2002.” “It has everything you’d want in the 2002,” she says. Delia is the proud owner of a 1991 BMW 318IS, one of the last of the simple, mechanical, engineering-driven driver’s cars the Munich firm built its reputation on. “I found it down in Aptos, near Santa Cruz, somewhat sad and neglected—but I fell in love, because it reminded me about my 2002, and my Tii. And those cars were the cars I grew up on, those were the cars I loved first.” Wolfe has been able to repair and restore her car—she’s a BMW mechanic,...

Petition: https://www.change.org/p/crixa-labs-make-ember-a-spiritual-successor-to-firefall Mark Kern has recently put together a petition in order to see how many people would be interested in an MMO in which firefall was supposed to be. He said that the new management has drastically changed the game into another generic MMO, and they won't let him take the ip and make the proper improvements to the game so has decided to try and garner enough people to see if there is a demand for Ember. Ember will be tied in with the environments of Crixa which he is developing and is a tabletop RPG. This cool possibly become a very interesting MMO in the future, so check out the petition! Would you play Ember if it releases in the future? Enjoy!! ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/JearbearYT ►Twitch: http:/...
Meet the lead characters in Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie.
AlphaOmegaSin has obviously been pissed at Konami for cancelling Silent Hills and pulling the PT demo off PS4. Seems that the game made a big enough impact that fans have created their own in the form of Allison Road which looks amazing. Watching the Allison Road Gameplay made me feel like I was watching more of Silent Hills all over again, it is that good. AlphaOmegaSin is going to be keeping a close eye on this, in the meantime let Konami know they fucked up cancelling Silent Hills and showing them this lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__i_LoRKhJ0&feature;=youtu.be https://www.facebook.com/AllisonRoadGame Background music from Resident Evil 1 on PS1 AlphaOmegaSin Shirts - http://www.chopshopgoods.com/category_s/1950.htm AlphaOmegaSin Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/alphaomegas...
