Matthew Jehu Samuels (born October 12, 1986), professionally known as Boi-1da (/ˌbɔɪˈwʌndə/ boy-WON-da), is a Canadian hip-hop producer from Toronto, Ontario. He has produced for artists and groups such as Clipse, The Diplomats, Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Joe Budden, G-Unit, Nicki Minaj, k-os, Das Racist, Lecrae, Nas, Bizzle, Talib Kweli, Saukrates, and Kendrick Lamar, among others. He significantly collaborates with other producers who co-produce on his tracks including, The Maven Boys, Stephen "Koz" Kozmeniuk, Vinylz and Allen Ritter.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Samuels moved to Canada when he was three, and grew up in the North York and Scarborough districts of Toronto. He was also raised in Ajax, Ontario, where he currently resides. At the age of eight, his mother bought him a Casio keyboard, and at the age of 15, a friend had introduced him to FL Studio (formerly Fruity Loops). Without any formal musical training, he started using the FL Studio beat-making program. A few years later, he won three consecutive Battle of the Beatmakers championships; because of this accomplishment, he was given a spot in the Battle of the Beatmakers judging panel.

Despite Drake’s ongoing beef with Funkmaster Flex, New York City still has plenty of love for the Toronto rapper. Case in point? The response he received when he took the stage at the Mad Decent Block Party in Brooklyn. During Boi-1da’s DJ set Sunday, Drizzy was brought out for a surprise appearance, which included performances of “Jumpman,” “Back to Back,” and “For Free,” according to Pitchfork. Video and photos taken at the event show the crowd at MCU Park going completely nuts over Drake—we’re talking hands in the air while jumping and belting out lyrics in unison. On December 5th, 2006...Drake, Littles, Boi-1da, Aristo & Young Tony a.k.a. Hush called in to the Crack House Radio after Aristo dropped his diss track towards Drake called "Good Morning". The beef started after Aristo threw a subliminal shot at Drake over a freestyle called "Swagnificent". Drake later responded with a few subliminals of his own on "Goodnight and Goodluck". The instrumental for "Goodnight and Goodluck" was originally from one of Aristo's songs called "Right Now" which was produced by Boi-1da. Aristo later dropped his response called "Good Morning". After that, Drake put the nail in the coffin on "Good Riddance" with the help of Bishop Brigrante, Ken Masters, Young Tony, JD Era & Johnny Roxx.

If it wasn't for you!
Do I believe in the resurrection of Christ?
And did His death bring forth new life?
And did He raise up and bring back Lazurus from the
grave?
Is there supposed to be a Second Coming?
Am I wrong because I'm wondering
Why the fallen Babylon is up and alive today?
And do I really believe in the Mark of the Beast
Cause he's still dwelling up in my streets
Strapped and ready to fight this war
And he's got more guns than you and me
And most people don't wanna believe
That they still prejudice, simply because we poor
Do I believe that Mother Teresa was an angel on this
earth
And thou shall love thy neighbor, even if he acts like
you?
Do believe in Heaven and Hell, shoot, hell yeah I do
Cause we alive today, and my crew is living proof
If it wasn't for you!
None of this would ever mean a thing
If it wasn't for you!
Tell me why else would I believe
What I believe
Do I believe that the Rider of the White Horse
Is coming back for the righteous?
And the Morning Star keeps getting brighter every day?
Is there such a thing as good and evil
Still division amongst the people?
And we're not all created equally, just because you say
Do I believe in the Trinity?
And will I live eternally?
Even though I'm not quite the saint that you claim to
Did Dr. Martin Luther have a dream?
Was Haile Sillasi a king?
And is it okay to sometimes feel a little bit confused?
Will Armagedon ever come?
I'm not perfect, just forgiven
And I might just push back the next time you shove
Do I believe in One God, one aim and destiny?
Just don't forget your First Love
That's what my mom used to tell me
If it wasn't for you!
None of this would ever mean a thing
If it wasn't for you!
Tell me why else would I believe
(What I believe)
If it wasn't for you!
Then none of this is for nothing
It's all for nothing!
It's all for nothing!
It's all for nothing!
If it wasn't for you!
None of this would ever mean a thing
If it wasn't for you!
Tell me why else would I believe
(What I believe)
If it wasn't for you!
None of this would ever mean a thing
(What I believe)
If it wasn't for you
(Would I believe)
If it wasn't for you
