Repair works are now underway on a ruptured high pressure gas main and York St has been re-opened with speed restrictions.
The leak was isolated around lunchtime and worker are on scene to complete the repair works.
The leak caused emergency services to close the section of road between Raglan St and Stawell St for several hours this morning.
Air sampling was carried out around the affected area, but it was not considered to be a threat to the community.
A new report by Bankwest shows it has become easier to buy a house in Wellington Shire, bucking the trend in many areas of the state.
Wellington Shire is one of the top 10 Victorian local government areas where it takes the least time for first time buyer couples to save a house deposit, according to the report.
It found that in Wellington, an average 20 per cent deposit of $40,429 was needed to buy a house, as of June 2017.
