Peter Edward Cook (17 November 1937 – 9 January 1995) was an English actor, satirist, writer and comedian. An extremely influential figure in modern British comedy, Cook is regarded as the leading light of the British satire boom of the 1960s. He was closely associated with the anti-establishment comedy that emerged in Britain and the United States in the late 1950s.
In 2005, Cook was ranked at number one in the Comedians' Comedian, a poll of over 300 comics, comedy writers, producers and directors throughout the English-speaking world.
Cook was born at his parents' house, "Shearbridge", in Middle Warberry Road, Torquay, Devon. He was the only son and eldest of the three children of Alexander Edward "Alec" Cook (1906–1984), a colonial civil servant, and his wife Ethel Catherine Margaret, née Mayo (1908–1994). He was educated at Radley College and Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he studied French and German. As a student, Cook initially intended to become a career diplomat like his father, but Britain "had run out of colonies", as he put it. Although politically largely apathetic, particularly in later life when he displayed a deep distrust of politicians of all hues, he did join the Cambridge University Liberal Club.

He has lost popularity with mainstream audiences and suffered a nervous breakdown. He is full of self hatred about his appearance - he wears a wig - and his homosexuality, putting huge stress on his relationship with Dennis. Matters are not helped by the death of Frankie's mother Edith. However, Frankie is able to reinvent himself as a satirical comedian, with a gig at Peter Cook's Establishment Club and his fortunes soar, with successful television comedies and a well-publicised appearance at the Oxford Union.

A staggering insight into Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. The sketch at 13.43 min,SPAGHETTI, is totally surreal. And the informal chat at the beginning 2.14 min, pete and dud as an audience of their show, not the performer's, is sublime. "do you travel much ?" "seldom", "seldom, yes, it's probably best to stay in the same place for about a year". WONDERFUL. If the BBC were to pay real money for real talent, then these two, if they were still with us, Pete and Dud would be the two richest men on the planet. Enjoy and marvel at two of the funniest men that ever trod the earth.

On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said it killed Adnani and 40 other fighters with an airstrike carried out by an Su-34 bomber in the town of Maaratat-Umm Khaush in Aleppo province. In 1965 the BBC put together the talents of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore for a new show, Not Only But Also. Writing scripts from improvised recordings (although ad-libs and corpsing remained irresistible features of the final recordings), the pair created their own style of comedy including the memorable Dagenham Dialogues of the cloth-capped Pete and Dud, and Peter Cook’s magnificent old duffer Sir Arthur Greeb-Streebling. The series continued until 1970. Many of Cook and Moore’s most famous sketches are shown here, including 5-4-3-2-1 …, the Superthunderstingraycars, the Leaping Nuns, The Glidd of Glood, Bo Dudley and the Goodbye-ee song. You better listen
It's thin
It's a powder keg.
You better listen to me.
Take me home.
I don't want to go.
Take me back to the safe.
You know better.
You better listen.
It's a powder keg.
You better listen.
Retreat from Enniskillen
I had a dream
Bruised it coloured
It going to hurt me
Manchester city center
Caroline
Take me back
I can't get the bus.
Do you know what they say. You better listen
he's a powder keg.
You better listen to me
Sickening in its infection.
His radioactive radio-head drips with powder
His aura, round halo, thin.
Listen to me.
Thin.
Retreat.
Head loaded people avoid bad luck.
Hives away.
Confined to the university in the town.
Powder, retreat from Enniskillen
I don't want to go.
Take me home
Take me back to town, Mark.
Don't you know, the town is a powder keg.
