Diverted First Great Western HST's over the South West Trains Region, Easter 2013. Due to Network Rail renewing Reading railway station over the Easter bank holiday (March 29th, 30th, 31st, 1st April and the 7th April 2013) no trains could pass through Reading station while work was going on to fully open the new complex and to open the new platforms. FGW decided it would be better to divert their trains instead of transferring people on to a bus and it was a successful operation again like the last time they diverted them in December 2010.
Big thanks to FGW for diverting your HST's over unfamiliar territory because I have got a lot of rare footage once again.

Onboard the FGW Sleeper, Night Riviera service from Penzance to London Paddington on Thursday 24th (into 25th) July 2014!
There was an additional coach right at the front of the train which was locked up so I couldn't walk right through and get right behind the 57, which is a shame. Also theres no footage between Exeter & Reading because I fell asleep. Often the sleeper goes via Bristol and I would've woken up for that, but it didn't it went via Castle Cary and so we arrived at Reading an hour early at 3:30am!
A good night though, very nice service and the crew onboard were very accomadating and helpful. Once arrived in Paddington, you don't have to be off until 7, so thats perfect for commuters and they bring you a choice of cereals or a bacon roll and tea, coffee or orange juice to your room when you're ready! :)

It's a great coincidence that I have hit 166,000 views just when I got this stunning model. Unfortunately now that I have been testing this model for a while I have found a few issues. There are four functional couplings on the model, and two of them seem to have been replaced with NEM couplings, and there was a lot of residue on the wheels of the mode, causing a large amount of sparking, which both suggest that this model has had quite a long life, rather than just being test run, as the seller claimed. If you can find anywhere that you can get this, I suggest you buy this superb model, as the only problems I have encountered have been because the model had previously used. It is a must have for any layout!

During Easter weekend & Bank Holiday Monday 2015 the Great Western Mainline was undergoing major engineering work in the Reading area. Because of this First Great Western were forced to run an amended timetable out of London and operate via different routes. During this weekend FGW operated an hourly service from London to Plymouth or Penzance but it operated from South West Trains' London hub, at Waterloo. As well as the hourly services from Waterloo, FGW were also running a twice hourly service from Paddington. However they did not run down the usual route for obvious reasons. Instead they headed towards Greenford and Northolt then join the Chiltern Mainline down to Banbury where they then reverse towards Oxford and rejoin the mainline at Didcot for services towards Bristol the West Country and Cardiff and South Wales.
This video includes the journey onboard a HST down the South West Mainline from London Waterloo to Taunton via Basingstoke, Salisbury and Westbury, where we rejoin the usual route through Castle Cary and onwards to Taunton and the south west.
Quite surreal filming from a HST going through South suburban London, like Clapham & Wimbledon.
19:08 Look out for the not so great member of SWT staff at Basingstoke, swearing down his walky talky quite loudly :/

New, more reliable engines were installed cutting carbon emissions by 40 per cent, and increasing seating capacity.

On Thursday 24th September a case of being in the right place at the right time lead us to catch our first look and ride upon the first ever refurbished GWR HST set! After hearing that it was operating the 10:00 from Paddington to Paignton via Bristol we slightly altered our plans to get a ride on it. At the time of filming this was the only refurbished out, so it was very unique and certainly turned a few heads at Reading and Bristol! Personally I think the new livery looks great and nice to see the Great Western railway returning to Green. The days of the blue & pink FGW sets are now numbered!
Look out for more of these beautiful GWR sets out & about in the future!

It's a great coincidence that I have hit 166,000 views just when I got this stunning model. Unfortunately now that I have been testing this model for a while I have found a few issues. There are four functional couplings on the model, and two of them seem to have been replaced with NEM couplings, and there was a lot of residue on the wheels of the mode, causing a large amount of sparking, which both suggest that this model has had quite a long life, rather than just being test run, as the seller claimed. If you can find anywhere that you can get this, I suggest you buy this superb model, as the only problems I have encountered have been because the model had previously used. It is a must have for any layout! -

If you can find anywhere that you can get this, I suggest you buy this superb model, as the only problems I have encountered have been because the model had previously used. It is a must have for any layout!

During Easter weekend & Bank Holiday Monday 2015 the Great Western Mainline was undergoing major engineering work in the Reading area. Because of this First Great Western were forced to run an amended timetable out of London and operate via different routes. During this weekend FGW operated an hourly service from London to Plymouth or Penzance but it operated from South West Trains' London hub, at Waterloo. As well as the hourly services from Waterloo, FGW were also running a twice hourly service from Paddington. However they did not run down the usual route for obvious reasons. Instead they headed towards Greenford and Northolt then join the Chiltern Mainline down to Banbury where they then reverse towards Oxford and rejoin the mainline at Didcot for services towards Bristol the West Country and Cardiff and South Wales.
This video includes the journey onboard a HST down the South West Mainline from London Waterloo to Taunton via Basingstoke, Salisbury and Westbury, where we rejoin the usual route through Castle Cary and onwards to Taunton and the south west.
Quite surreal filming from a HST going through South suburban London, like Clapham & Wimbledon.

On Thursday 24th September a case of being in the right place at the right time lead us to catch our first look and ride upon the first ever refurbished GWR HST set! After hearing that it was operating the 10:00 from Paddington to Paignton via Bristol we slightly altered our plans to get a ride on it. At the time of filming this was the only refurbished out, so it was very unique and certainly turned a few heads at Reading and Bristol! Personally I think the new livery looks great and nice to see the Great Western railway returning to Green. The days of the blue & pink FGW sets are now numbered!
Look out for more of these beautiful GWR sets out & about in the future!
