This is the opening song to the 1970 Canadian movie "Goin' Down The Road" by Donald Shebib, which tells the tale of two jobless Cape Breton men who move to Toronto in hopes of finding employment and a better life. The movie portrays an era when many Canadians living in the Maritimes were economically troubled, and often had to move west to make a living. "Goin' Down The Road" is often said to be one of the greatest Canadian films of all time.

Donald Shebib
Donald Shebib (born 17 January 1938 in Toronto), often called Don Shebib, is a Canadian film director, writer, producer and editor. A graduate of UCLA film school, Shebib gained prominence and critical acclaim in Canadian cinema for his seminal 1970 movie Goin' Down the Road, which combined narrative storytelling with Canadian documentary tradition influenced by the British. The low-budget film crew travelled around Toronto in a station wagon, supported by funding from the newly-formed Canadian Film Development Corporation. The movie was screened in New York and hailed by Pauline Kael and Roger Ebert. Kael wrote that the movie showed up the ostensibly forced sincerity and perceived honesty of the films of John Cassavetes. Shebib is the father of Noah "40" Shebib. Goin' Down the Road was digitally remastered as one of the key films in the Canadian film canon and was honoured with a screening at the Art Gallery of Ontario. A sequel was shot in 2011, called "Goin' Down the Road Again," featuring some of the original cast members as well as a new generation of characters.

Pierre Berton
Pierre Francis de Marigny Berton, CC OOnt (July 12, 1920 – November 30, 2004) was a noted Canadian author of non-fiction, especially Canadiana and Canadian history, and was a well-known television personality and journalist.
An accomplished storyteller, Berton was one of Canada's most prolific and popular authors. He wrote on popular culture, Canadian history, critiques of mainstream religion, anthologies, children's books and historical works for youth. He was also a founder of the Writers' Trust of Canada, a non-profit literary organization that seeks to encourage Canada's writing community. Berton's 50 books became popular because his light and fast-paced style was not weighted down by footnotes or deep probes into primary sources. Historian C.P. Stacey in 1980, said Berton demonstrated his skill as an anecdotalist, or storyteller, who emphasized the human dimension, while often overlooking the scholarship. His two-volume history of the War of 1812, running to 928 pages, was republished in 2011 as "Pierre Berton's War of 1812 (Toronto: Anchor Canada, 2011).

This is the opening song to the 1970 Canadian movie "Goin' Down The Road" by Donald Shebib, which tells the tale of two jobless Cape Breton men who move to Toronto in hopes of finding employment and a better life. The movie portrays an era when many Canadians living in the Maritimes were economically troubled, and often had to move west to make a living. Full Sail University students got to learn about the history and inner workings of the Grammy Awards during a panel with music industry professionals Dylan Dresdow, Al Schlesinger, and Brandon Egerton.
1997 Recording Arts graduate Dylan "3-D" Dresdow is a multiplatinum mix engineer who has mixed songs for artists including: Madonna, Michael Jackson, Usher, and will.i.am. His work on the Black Eyed Peas' 'The E.N.D.' earned him a GRAMMY award in 2010 for Best Pop Vocal Album, and three other nominations. He was also nominated for multiple GRAMMYs for the group's Elephunk. In 2012 he engineered will.i.am's "Reach for the Stars," which was broadcast from Mars.
Mr. Al Schlesinger has been a music business attorney for over fifty years. Prior to becoming an attorney, he had his own record and music publishing companies. His entire practice is now, and has been, in the field of music, representing record companies, music publishing companies, recording artists, record producers, songwriters, personal managers, talent agents, and disc jockeys. Mr. Schlesinger was the personal manager of the recording and performing group Bread and has written articles for the Beverly Hills Bar Association Journal, the National Academy of Songwriters (of which he is a founding member), the Association of International Entertainment Attorneys (of which he is a charter member), and various educational institutions throughout the United States. He has also taught courses on the music business and has been a guest lecturer and panelist for many educational institutions and music-oriented organizations. Mr. Schlesinger is a past president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and past two-term national chairman of the board of said academy. He is also a past recipient of Billboard Magazine's award for Entertainment Attorney of the Year. He was recently honored with the Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) Service Award during the 2006 GRAMMY Week festivities.
Brandon Egerton is the Program Director for Full Sail University's Recording Arts degree program. He is also the President/co-founder of Artistic Soul Entertainment, a company centered on artist development of Gospel music entrepreneurs around the world. He also worked as A&R; manager for EMI Gospel, contributing to over 125 albums released by the label, including projects from artists such as Kierra Sheard, Smokie Norful, TD Jakes, Darwin Hobbs, CeCe Winans, Myron Butler, Donald Lawrence & The Tri-City Singers, Aaron Neville, and Antonio Neal.
