3x3

3x3 is a typeface based on a 3x3 bitmap matrix. It was created by type designer Anders de Flon, who long refused to release the typeface, due to the large type foundries' demand for only complete typefaces, which means upper and lower case characters, exclamation marks, etc.

The typeface has appeared on several record sleeves; a slightly modified version appears on the cover of LFO's Sheath, designed by The Designers Republic.

A similar typeface named 3x3 but not adhering to a 3x3 bitmap matrix was designed by Swiss graphic designer Marc Beekhuis in 2001.

3x3 (basketball)

3x3 (pronounced 3 on 3, 3 by 3 or 3x3), known also as streetball or street basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop. It is the largest urban team sport of the world (ESSEC study commissioned by IOC). This basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA the sport's governing body. Its main competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour, comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament awarding six-figure prize money in US dollars. The FIBA 3x3 World Championships is the highest tournament for national 3x3 teams.

History

3x3 has been a basketball format always played, albeit in a less formal way. The first large 3x3 competition was launched in 1989 by USA-based Hoop It Up, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2014. They state to have reached over 500,000 athletes in this period. Adidas launched its now-discontinued streetball competition in 1992. Since then, the number of 3x3 events and competitions has been steadily growing all around the world.

3×3

3X3 is an EP by the English rock band Genesis. It was released in 1982. Its three songs were recorded during the Abacab sessions. The lead single, "Paperlate", peaked at No. 10 on the UK charts, No. 32 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and No. 2 on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart.

Production

All songs were recorded during the session for Abacab. A bootleg demo tape exists of the band playing an entire session of songs for Abacab, with the three songs from this EP also included.

For the song "Paperlate", Collins used the horn section of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. Collins has often used the group for other projects, including Collins' debut solo album, Face Value. A music video was also created utilising the band's 27 May 1982 appearance on Top of the Pops. According to "Connolly & Company", "You Might Recall" is a song about a lost love. Collins wrote the song "Me and Virgil". He has called it "a dog", and cites it as one of his worst ever pieces of writing. According to Collins, the group was trying to do something similar to the work of The Band, but "we couldn't." The song is written as a story.

Netpbm

Netpbm is an open-source package of graphics programs and a programming library, used mainly in the Unix world. It is included in all major open-source Unix-like operating system distributions and also works on other Unix-like operating systems, Windows, Unix operating systems such as Mac OS X, and other platforms.

Netpbm contains over 220 separate programs in the package, most of which have "pbm", "pgm", "ppm", "pam", or "pnm" in their names. For example, you might use pamscale to shrink an image by 10%, pamcomp to overlay one image on top of another, pbmtext to create an image of text or reduce the number of colors in an image with pnmquant.

PAM (cooking oil)

PAM is a cooking spray currently owned and distributed by ConAgra Foods. Its main ingredient is canola oil.

PAM was introduced in 1961 by Leon Rubin who, with Arthur Meyerhoff, started Gibraltar Industries to market the spray. The name PAM is an acronym for Product of Arthur Meyerhoff. In 1971, Gilbraltar Industries merged with American Home Products (now Wyeth) and became part of the Boyle-Midway portfolio. When Reckitt & Colman (now Reckitt Benckiser) acquired Boyle-Midway from American Home Products in 1990, PAM became part of the American Home Foods subsidiary. In 1996, AHF was acquired by Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst Inc., and C. Dean Metropoulos and Company from American Home Products, becoming International Home Foods, which in turn was acquired by ConAgra in 2000. PAM is marketed in various flavors, such as "butter" and "olive oil", meant to impart the flavor of cooking with those ingredients. Flavors such as "lemon" or "garlic" are also offered. PAM also markets high-temperature sprays formulated for use when grilling, etc., and one containing flour suitable for dry-cooking as in baking. PAM is marketed as a nominally zero-calorie alternative to other oils used as lubricants when using cooking methods such as sauteing or baking (US regulations allow food products to claim to be zero-calorie if they contain fewer than 5 calories per Reference Amount Customarily Consumed and per labeled serving). Similar sprays are offered by other manufacturers.
