    We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Android Applications to join the Thales InFlyt Experience team in Irvine. 

    The Senior Software Engineer – Android Applications will involve reviewing and analyzing business requirement documents, creating design documents, coding and unit testing. As a developer within the team, the successful candidate will design, develop, test and deliver software solutions for IFE. The candidate will work within agile teams of committed developers to deliver these solutions for IFE product suite. Candidate should be able to function independently with minimum directions and able to coach and mentor junior resources on the team.   The candidate will perform technical planning for the java development of Android framework, work with system team to understand the requirements, and participate in design discussion with relevant teams.

    Key Responsibilities: 
    Implement, and test the software applications that make up the IFEC distributed system
    Define and implement Software modules and interfaces/APIs between software components
    Ensure the software implementation is in line with the proposed software solution architecture and recommended design patterns
    Meet Customer Commitments (Technical Execution, Technical input and estimation of story sizing, Communicate with PO and scrum master)
    Guide and develop junior team members in both formal and informal technical mentoring/guidance to the team to ensure that technically sound permanent solutions are delivered to resolve issues.
    Use "out of box" thinking while working on new development and also while solving sustaining issues
    Work with other team members (inside and outside of engineering) to think of innovative, creative solutions on a technical as well as non-technical level.
    Make sure all the coding, documentation done with good functional descriptions.
    Participate in all Agile scrum activities, attend and plan for sprint planning, helping out POs' to break down stories into tasks, make sure that stories are properly sized and assigned among the team evenly.
    Good knowledge of JUNIT and other standard object oriented SW development standards



    Required Skills and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
    Java, Design Patterns, Java/Android Applications, Multi-threading and IPC

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from a four-year college or university

  • Project Manager - Capital Works

    Thales Australia is part of a leading international electronics and systems group serving the defence, aerospace and space, security, and transport markets in Australia and throughout the world. Our expertise ranges across protected mobility vehicles and integrated communications solutions for defence through to security solutions and systems integration for the commercial sector.


    Property and Facilities is a key corporate function responsible for establishing and delivering the daily operations of essential industrial services and processes across Thales Australia and New Zealand. This role makes an important contribution to ensuring Thales continues to develop quality products and services for its customers.


    The role of Project Manager will provide planning and project management of capital works, construction works, fit out, and relocations of staff and equipment to all Thales domains in Australia and New Zealand.


    Key Responsibilities for this Role Include:

    • Take a key leadership role within an integrated property portfolio on all construction & fit out projects whether new or improvements
    • To ensure delivery of capital works projects on budget, on time, to the necessary HSE and quality standards and to the satisfaction of internal customers
    • Establishing annual business plans (financial and operational) for capital projects
    • Stakeholder engagement to define and capture customer requirements
    • Developing project plans and manage delivery of capital works projects
    • Developing draft contracts and negotiating contracts with works providers
    • Subcontractor management, including interior designers, architects, sub-trades, construction firms
    • To ensure appropriate and adequate risk management procedures and systems are institutionalised within the construction arena.

    Qualifications, skills and experience Required Includes:

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Building/Construction Management, , Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar related field is desirable however not essential
    • Detailed knowledge and experience of managing a number of significant and diverse construction / fit out projects at any given time
    • Minimum 5 years contract management and  project management experience in capital works at a senior level
    • A demonstrable track record in delivering complex fit-out projects
    • Strength in financial management to include operating cost budget control and reporting
    • Awareness of asset management techniques and principles
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple subcontractors.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Capital Works Project Manager to move ‘in house’ and develop their career working in a supportive, team oriented environment.

    We are currently looking for a Sr. Software Integration Engineer to join the Thales IFE team in Irvine, CA. 

    The Sr. Software Integration Engineer will develop an automated test case framework to enable continuous integration of a highly complex embedded SW/HW system.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Software development (C++ focused) in an embedded and application environment, triage and root cause analysis of highly complex HW/SW Issues, development of tooling to identify and automate integration issues.

    Responsible for some technical planning, organizing and conducting technical projects in design and development of computer systems.

    Conceives and plans projects involving assessment of limitations; defines and selects new concepts and approaches, design, development and implementation of non-routine software engineering applications by following general guidelines.

    Analyzes and investigates engineering project tasks, defines specifications and parameters, develops programs, and resolves any design considerations.

    Assembles the software components in a logical and controlled manner to evaluate the design, behavior, interactions and performance, and to confirm that the requirements against which the software components have been designed are fulfilled

    Conducts independent technical investigations of software/hardware design.
    Coordinates and consolidates design efforts on major projects.

    Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval 

    Required Skills and Experience:

    A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 5-9+ years’ of experience.

    Vous intervenez sur les projets Aéroportés, Terrestres, Navals ou Electronique de Missile.


    A ce titre, vous aurez pour principales missions :


    -       Préparer les activités d’Intégration Vérification du Calculateur, comprenant les constituants suivants : le Matériel (cartes électroniques numériques COTS et/ou MAKE : CPU, FPGA, I/O, etc.), le Firmware (VHDL), le Logiciel de base (OS/BSP/Drivers), le Middleware (i.e. MyCCM) et le Logiciel Opérationnel (Applicatif).

    -       Assurer le management des activités d’Intégration Vérification du Calculateur.

    -       Définir la stratégie IV, établit les exigences relevant des activités IV et estime les coûts et délais associés, y compris en phase Offre.

    -       Spécifier, choisir et déployer les méthodologies (incluant les métriques), les outils/plateformes nécessaires aux activités IV et à l’acceptation.

    -       Proposer les scénarios d’IV et garantir leur mise en œuvre.

    -       Coordonner les activités IV, établir les priorités et la logique d’intégration, conduire les tests en usine, fournir une assistance à l’Ingénierie Système et aux parties prenantes sur site, analyser les résultats et les communiquer aux équipes de développement.

     

    Vos interfaces :

    -       Dans le processus AGILE, « Client » d’une équipe Scrum Logiciel : lien fort avec Product Owner

    -       Interface avec le Domaine Electronique de Missile (B1NT) pour la partie IV Système

    -       Interface avec les métiers de développement (HW, SW, Firmware et Logiciel de base) : détection & analyse de Faits Techniques

    -       Connaissance technique multi-métiers.

    -       Management transverse en direct d’une équipe de 3/4 personnes



    De formation Ingénieur (grande école ou université), vous avez une expérience significative de management transverse et hiérarchique dans un poste similaire.


    Vous êtes tenace, doté(e) d'un leadership naturel pour engager et animer des équipes dans un environnement complexe.

    Vous êtes critique dans vos analyses, faites preuve de synthèse, d’anticipation et vous êtes force de proposition.

    Vos capacités d’écoute et de médiation seront nécessaires à la bonne tenue du poste.
