Η Ελαφόνησος τοποθετημένη στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο της Πελοποννήσου αποτελεί πόλο έλξης πολλών τουριστών με την παραλία του Σίμου να δεσπόζει αγκαλιασμένη από αμμόλοφους με κρυστάλλινα γαλαζοπράσινα νερά. Από την άλλη, ο νομός Αρκαδίας με τη χαρακτηριστική και θαυματουργή μονή Ελώνης χτισμένη σε μία απότομη πλαγιά του Πάρνωνα, να απέχει 35 χιλιόμετρα από τον Τυρό, 17 χιλιόμετρα από το Λεωνίδιο και 12 χιλιόμετρα από τον Κοσμά, ένα ορεινό χωριό χτισμένο σε υψόμετρο 1150 μέτρων ανάμεσα σε έλατα.
Στην ανατολική πλευρά του Γυθείου στη νήσο Κρανάη, στην άκρη του λιμανιού του Γυθείου ο πετρόκτιστος φάρος κατασκευασμένος το 1873 με ύψος 23 μέτρα πρωτολειτούργησε με πετρέλαιο, ενώ η ακτίνα της δέσμης φωτός του έφτανε τα 15 ναυτικά μίλια. Σύμφωνα με τη μυθολογία ήταν το ερωτικό καταφύγιο του Πάρη και της Ωραίας Ελένης μετά την απαγωγή και προτού αναχωρήσουν για την Τροία. Πέντε χιλιόμετρα έξω από το Γύθειο στην παραλία της Σελινίτσας συναντάμε το πλοίο φάντασμα «Δημήτριος», αγνώστου ιδιοκτησίας μήκους 67 μέτρων εγκαταλελειμμένο από το Δεκέμβριο του 1981, ενώ πολλές είναι οι εικασίες για την πραγματική του ιστορία.
Το τοπίο συμπληρώνει ο ποταμός Ευρώτας μήκους 82 χιλιομέτρων, που διερχόμενος από τον Ταΰγετο και τον Πάρνωνα εισέρχεται στη Λακωνία, ενώ στα αρχαία σήμαινε μούχλα. Τέλος, δέος δημιουργεί το εγκαταλελειμμένο πλέον ξενοδοχείο «Λακωνίς» με την 300 μέτρων παραλία, 5.500 τ.μ. κτισμάτων και 30.000 τ.μ. κήπων, πρώην ησυχαστήριο της Αντζελίνα Τζολί και του Τζέιμς Κάμερον.

Peloponnese
The Peloponnese (/ˈpɛləpəˌniːz/) or Peloponnesus (/ˌpɛləpəˈniːsəs/; Greek: Πελοπόννησος, Pelopónnēsos) is a peninsula and geographic region in southern Greece. It is separated from the central part of the country by the Gulf of Corinth. During the late Middle Ages and the Ottoman era, the peninsula was known as the Morea (Greek: Μωρέας), a name still in colloquial use in its demotic form (Μωριάς).
The peninsula is divided among three administrative regions: most belongs to the Peloponnese region, with smaller parts belonging to the West Greece and Attica regions.
It was here that the Greek War of Independence began in 1821. The Peloponnesians have almost totally dominated politics and government in Greece since then.
Geography
The Peloponnese is a peninsula that covers an area of some 21,549.6 square kilometres (8,320.3 sq mi) and constitutes the southernmost part of mainland Greece. While technically it may be considered an island since the construction of the Corinth Canal in 1893, like other peninsulas that have been separated from their mainland by man-made bodies of waters, it is rarely, if ever, referred to as an "island". It has two land connections with the rest of Greece, a natural one at the Isthmus of Corinth, and an artificial one by the Rio-Antirio bridge (completed 2004).

Η Ελαφόνησος τοποθετημένη στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο της Πελοποννήσου αποτελεί πόλο έλξης πολλών τουριστών με την παραλία του Σίμου να δεσπόζει αγκαλιασμένη από αμμόλοφους με κρυστάλλινα γαλαζοπράσινα νερά. Από την άλλη, ο νομός Αρκαδίας με τη χαρακτηριστική και θαυματουργή μονή Ελώνης χτισμένη σε μία απότομη πλαγιά του Πάρνωνα, να απέχει 35 χιλιόμετρα από τον Τυρό, 17 χιλιόμετρα από το Λεωνίδιο και 12 χιλιόμετρα από τον Κοσμά, ένα ορεινό χωριό χτισμένο σε υψόμετρο 1150 μέτρων ανάμεσα σε έλατα.
Στην ανατολική πλευρά του Γυθείου στη νήσο Κρανάη, στην άκρη του λιμανιού του Γυθείου ο πετρόκτιστος φάρος κατασκευασμένος το 1873 με ύψος 23 μέτρα πρωτολειτούργησε με πετρέλαιο, ενώ η ακτίνα της δέσμης φωτός του έφτανε τα 15 ναυτικά μίλια. Σύμφωνα με τη μυθολογία ήταν το ερωτικό καταφύγιο του Πάρη και της Ωραίας Ελένης μετά την απαγωγή και προτού αναχωρήσουν για την Τροία. Πέντε χιλιόμετρα έξω από το Γύθειο στην παραλία της Σελινίτσας συναντάμε το πλοίο φάντασμα «Δημήτριος», αγνώστου ιδιοκτησίας μήκους 67 μέτρων εγκαταλελειμμένο από το Δεκέμβριο του 1981, ενώ πολλές είναι οι εικασίες για την πραγματική του ιστορία.
Το τοπίο συμπληρώνει ο ποταμός Ευρώτας μήκους 82 χιλιομέτρων, που διερχόμενος από τον Ταΰγετο και τον Πάρνωνα εισέρχεται στη Λακωνία, ενώ στα αρχαία σήμαινε μούχλα. Τέλος, δέος δημιουργεί το εγκαταλελειμμένο πλέον ξενοδοχείο «Λακωνίς» με την 300 μέτρων παραλία, 5.500 τ.μ. κτισμάτων και 30.000 τ.μ. κήπων, πρώην ησυχαστήριο της Αντζελίνα Τζολί και του Τζέιμς Κάμερον.
