Banks urged to finance setting up Armenia-Iran power grid

Tehran, July 9, IRNA – Senior Advisor to Minister of Energy Homayoun Haeri on Saturday called for banking finances for overseas energy projects, including the third grid of electricity from Armenia to Iran.

Haeri made the remark in a meeting of the feasibility studies and mechanisms to set up power transfer grids.
Haeri is in charge of the project for transfer of 1000 megawatts of power from Armenia to Iran.
He said that unfortunately the banks refuse to finance such projects.
Meanwhile, Sanir Co. Managing Director Bahman Salehi said the network for transfer of power from Armenia to Iran is a strategic project.
He said that the grid will make available transfer of energy to the Persian Gulf states from northern neighbors.
Salehi said commissioning of the 3rd grid of power transfer from Armenia to Iran is a project of high importance for both Iran and Armenia with political and economic significance.
