Glass (film)

Glass (Dutch: Glas) is a 1958 Dutch short documentary film by director and producer Bert Haanstra. The film won the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 1959. The film is about the glass industry in the Netherlands. It contrasts the handmade crystal from the Royal Leerdam Glass Factory with automated bottle making machines. The accompanying music ranges from jazz to techno. Short segments of artisans making various glass goods by hand are joined with those of mass production. It is often acclaimed to be the perfect short documentary.

Fiberglass

Fiberglass (or fibreglass) is a type of fiber reinforced plastic where the reinforcement fiber is specifically glass fiber. The glass fiber may be randomly arranged, flattened into a sheet (called a chopped strand mat), or woven into a fabric. The plastic matrix may be a thermosetting plastic – most often epoxy, polyester resin – or vinylester, or a thermoplastic.

The glass fibers are made of various types of glass depending upon the fiberglass use. These glasses all contain silica or silicate, with varying amounts of oxides of calcium, magnesium, and sometimes boron. To be used in fiberglass, glass fibers have to be made with very low levels of defects.

Fiberglass is a strong lightweight material and is used for many products. Although it is not as strong and stiff as composites based on carbon fiber, it is less brittle, and its raw materials are much cheaper. Its bulk strength and weight are also better than many metals, and it can be more readily molded into complex shapes. Applications of fiberglass include aircraft, boats, automobiles, bath tubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, septic tanks, water tanks, roofing, pipes, cladding, casts, surfboards, and external door skins.

Production

After the success of the bands first EP, From Her Eyes continued to develop their sound. With the addition of guitarist Joe Shutt, the band wanted to introduce heavier elements to their sound indicative of deathcore and the technicality of progressive metal without abandoning their melodic roots

Whilst still holding melodic elements and consistent lead lines, the tuning is dramatically lowered (from C# Standard seen on Demons to Drop A#), and is contrasted with Shutt's more visceral rhythm technique and riffs. Tomas Morgan's vocals lean far more towards deathcore, with lower vocal pitches for significant portions of the song. The band also adopted aggression wherever possible, i.e. being encouraged in studio to purposely hit rim shot drum strokes instead of clean drum strokes, and using only active pickups on all guitars. Despite this, this is the first venture to feature clean vocals since the bands early demo EP "No Place Like Home" (this is excluding the guest clean vocals on the title track of Demons), sung by drummer Gary Holley. This is something the band states was not planned, and was an impromptu idea that ended up being included in the final mix.

Hungry! (ハングリー！, Hangurii!) is a 2012 Japanese television drama series.

Synopsis

Eisuke (Osamu Mukai), a former bassist of a rock band who gave up his music dreams to carry on the tradition of his family’s French restaurant. The show will involve a love triangle as Kuninaka and Takimoto play rivals for Eisuke’s heart.

Maria (Ryoko Kuninaka) is Eisuke's older girlfriend who works at a bank. She is shocked to learn that Eisuke has abandoned his music to devote himself to the restaurant, leading her to uncertainty about their relationship because they don't get time for each other. Meanwhile, Chie (Takimoto Miori) is a cheerful 20-year-old college student who come from a farming family. Although she initially had a bad impression of Eisuke, she begins to develop feelings for him after tasting his cooking. It was love which started from her stomach instead of her heart.

SMAP’s Inagaki Goro will play Tokio, the owner of a competing French restaurant. In the past, he was fond of the restaurant that Eisuke’s mother ran, but after she died, he deceived Eisuke’s father and bought out the restaurant’s chefs and staff. Knowing of Eisuke’s ability as a chef, Tokio views him as a rival.

Hungry (The X-Files)

"Hungry" is the third episode of the seventh season of the science fiction television series The X-Files. It premiered on the Fox network in the United States on November 21, 1999. It was written by Vince Gilligan, directed by Kim Manners, and featured a guest appearance by Chad Donella. The episode is a "Monster-of-the-Week" story, unconnected to the series' wider mythology. However, unlike previous Monster-of-the-Week stories, "Hungry" is told from the monster's perspective. "Hungry" earned a Nielsen household rating of 9.6, being watched by 16.17 million people in its initial broadcast. The episode received mixed to positive reviews from critics.

The show centers on FBI special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who work on cases linked to the paranormal, called X-Files. Mulder is a believer in the paranormal, while the skeptical Scully has been assigned to debunk his work. In this episode, a fast-food employee with unusual cravings becomes the focus of an FBI investigation under the direction of Mulder and Scully. The victims appear with no brain and a suction hole in the forehead.

Hungry is an album of worship songs from Vineyard Records UK. It was recorded live in London, England and produced by Brian Doerksen and Nigel Hemming. This particular album is copyrighted by Vineyard Records UK.

This album was originally released as "Hungry" in 1999 by Vineyard Music UK Ltd. The album achieved platinum status in this incarnation. In 2005 this album was re-released as Vineyard Music UK; re-branded to Vineyard Records UK (VRUK).

Thriller (Lambchop album)

Thriller is the third full-length album by Lambchop, released in 1997.

The album title was chosen as a reference to the Michael Jackson album of the same name, one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, as an in-joke by frontman Kurt Wagner regarding the low sales of the first two Lambchop albums.

The track "Your Fucking Sunny Day" was released as a single from the album in a re-recorded "clean" version, under the title "Your Sucking Funny Day".

Three of the songs, "Hey Where's Your Girl", "Crawl Away" and "Superstar in France" are cover versions of songs from the album Poor Fricky by East River Pipe also released on Merge Records.

The sleeve is a painting by Wayne White, a childhood friend of Wagner who also provided cover art for Nixon, Aw Cmon and No You Cmon by the band.
