1. Devote yourself to work
Due to his father's death, he was forced to leave school before the age of 15 and found a job in a plastics trading company where he worked 16 hours a day.
2. Give your employees a sense of belonging
In 1950 he started his own company, Cheung Kong Industries.
3. Don't waste your money
From manufacturing plastics, Li developed his company into a leading real estate investment company in Hong Kong.
4. Acquire knowledge
He was named "Asia's Most Powerful Man, Li Ka-Shing" by Asiaweek in 2001.
5. Map out your strategy
His companies make up 15% of the market capitalisation of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
6. Be prepared for rainy days
In spite of his wealth, Li has cultivated a reputation for leading a no-frills lifestyle.
7. Strive for improvement
He's often referred to as "Superman" in Hong Kong because of his business prowess.

He's the chairman of the board of CK Hutchison Holdings as of 2015.

Li Ka-shing's story is one of rags-to-riches. Born in 1928 in Chaozhou in Southeastern China, he fled to Hong Kong with his family in 1940 during the second Sino-Japanese war.
He started out as an apprentice at a plastics factory and slowly worked his way up to be factory manager at just 18.
Li was the first Chinese to take over a British-backed conglomerate and today he has investments all over the world.
His fortune is worth US$35.3 billion. Turning 90 in July, he is retiring, handing the reins over to his son.

Due to his father's death, he was forced to leave school before the age of 15 and found a job in a plastics trading company where he worked 16 hours a day.

Li Ka-shing's story is one of rags-to-riches. Born in 1928 in Chaozhou in Southeastern China, he fled to Hong Kong with his family in 1940 during the second Sino-Japanese war.
He started out as an apprentice at a plastics factory and slowly worked his way up to be factory manager at just 18.
Li was the first Chinese to take over a British-backed conglomerate and today he has investments all over the world.
His fortune is worth US$35.3 billion. Turning 90 in July, he is retiring, handing the reins over to his son.
