Carli Anne Lloyd (born July 16, 1982) is an American soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA Women's World Cup champion, and 2015 FIFA Player of the Year. She currently plays for the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women's national soccer team. Lloyd scored the gold medal-winning goals in the finals of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. She has represented the United States at three FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments: the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which she helped the U.S. win bronze; the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the U.S. won silver; and the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, where Lloyd scored a hat trick in the final in captaining the U.S. to its third title.
During the United States' 5–2 win over Japan in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Final, Lloyd became the first person ever to score three goals in a FIFA Women's World Cup final, and the second soccer player in history to score a hat trick in any senior FIFA World Cup Final, after Sir Geoff Hurst. Lloyd scored three goals in the first 16 minutes of the final, with the first two occurring in the first five minutes of the game and within three minutes of each other. She received the Golden Ball Trophy as the best player of the tournament and earned the Silver Boot for her six goals and one assist during the tournament.

Midfielder Samantha Mewis and forward Stephanie McCaffrey are just two young players from Boston trying to stick on the incredibly competitive U.S. Women’s National Team. Coming into the 2016 January Camp, they figured they needed every edge they could get, and what better way to find success than to mimic the work habits of Women’s World Cup Golden Ball Winner, U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year Carli Lloyd. Perhaps they took it a bit too far. Watch shadows stretch and the moon light... like hungry dogs outside my door.
And l'll remember you best rose tinted and laughing
