Escobedo may refer to:
Valentín Pimstein Weiner (Born August 9, 1925, Santiago, Chile), is a Chilean producer of telenovelas.
Pimstein was the seventh child of nine Russian-Jewish family, which owns a glass shop in Barrio Brasil in Santiago. His fondness for the romantic and melodramatic stories born under the eaves of his mother, a frequent consumer of Mexican films and soap operas, and developed in parallel with his interest in theater.
After fulfilling adulthood, Pimstein decided to leave his native country in search of adventure. It came to Mexico, where he became assistant director of a film studio assistant by day and a nightclub. There she met Emilio Azcárraga Milmo, at that time owner of Telesistema Mexicano.
Antonio Salazar Alejos (1922–1999) was a Mexican actor. He was born on April 13, 1922 and died on November 25, 1999. Known in the Mexican acting arena as Antonio Raxel, he was born in San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas. He also did dubbing of TV shows, movies, and animation.
Antonio Raxel studied his career at the National Institute of Fine Arts under the tutelage of master Japanese Seki Sano. While here Raxel participated in 85 plays.
He started working in professional theater companies, primarily the Maria Tereza Montoya, Anita Blanch and Enrique Rambal.
His film career began in 1950, in supporting roles and he became a star next to stars of the golden age Mexican cinema, participating in at least 250 tapes.
By 1952 he entered television through soap operas such as "Teresa".
His biggest hits were La Familia Barrett, Sexteto, where he performed alongside Chula Prieto, and La idiota, next to Vilma Gonzalez.
Antonio Raxel’s distinctive voice was featured in various projects in film as well as TV and dubbing of the period. He appeared with comedy and suspense actors in such films as Santo y Blue Demon contra Drácula y el Hombre Lobo (Santo and Blue Demon vs. Dracula and the Wolfman).
Elsa Cárdenas (born 3 August 1935) is a Mexican actress. Since 1954 she has appeared in more than 100 films and television shows. She starred in the film Happiness, which was entered into the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. She acted alongside many stars, including Elvis Presley in Fun in Acapulco and James Dean in Giant.
She claims to have had a love affair with Elvis Presley during the filming of Fun in Acapulco. Elsa dated actor and director Budd Boetticher from 1962 to 1964. Some claim that they were married briefly, while others claim they were engaged at one point, but Elsa broke it off. She later married Guy Patton.
Silvia Derbez (March 8, 1932 – April 6, 2002), born Lucille Silvia Derbez Amézquita, was a Mexican film and television actress. Derbez was born in San Luis Potosi. She competed in Miss Mexico 1953 where she placed 2nd place, after Miss Jalisco Ana Bertha Lepe.
The daughter of French-born businessman Marcel Derbez Gilly, and of Maria de la Luz Amézquita, she debuted in Mexican film as a teenager, participating in her first movie at the age of 15, when she acted in La Novia del Mar (Girlfriend of the Sea), filmed in 1947.
In 1948, she participated in a classic of Mexican cinema: Allá en el Rancho Grande (Out on the Big Ranch). She was in three more movies before the decade of the 1940s had ended.
Derbez became a celebrity, both nationally and internationally, during the 1950s, an era in which she recorded sixteen films. Between 1951 and 1954, Derbez retired from filming, but she was in ten movies from 1954 to 1956.
With television becoming popular in Mexico, Derbez was signed by Televisa to play "Nora" in the 1958 soap opera, Senda prohibida (Prohibited Way). In 1959, Derbez got the title role in another soap opera, Elisa.
