Over the last few years we have seen Isaiah 19:1-3 fulfilled with the Arab spring bringing about the overthrowing Egpyt’s longstanding Government than the Muslim Brotherhood Egypt’s first Islamic Government was Removed from Power by a military takeover which has left Egpyt with civil unrest between the Islamist and the military-Government. However more trouble is coming for Egypt has Islamic extremist groups are on Egypt’s boradas the Sinai and Libya Some headlines read over the last 2 week “Egypt Warplanes Hit Libyan Militias, Officials Say” Isis has sent fighters to the Sinai to train combatants, the President of Egypt responds as ISIS flags flying next door in Libya, An Islamic extremist group is the cruel lord of Isaiah 19:4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, Yahweh of hosts. this vss describes Egypt’s invasion by an Islamic extremist group In the context of this passage we are told of civil war and unrest in Egypt, very similar to the spirit of what we are seeing today. The context of this invasion is the latter days when Yahweh will intervene in the events of the Middle East. It is in the time when he will come with symbolic clouds of heaven, in judgment of the nations. One of the first places he will go is Egypt which will be in the midst of turmoil. We read in Isaiah 19:1: The burden of Egypt. Behold, Yahweh rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. In the period leading up to Christ’s intervention we see the Egyptians engaged in civil war (v2-3). And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards. The civil unrest we see today is a glimpse of the situation that will descend upon Egypt in the latter days. It parallels the situation we see in the Olivet prophecy predicting the end of the Jewish age. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring (symbolic of peoples in turmoil); Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven (the governments) shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:25–28) What we see today is a similar situation – the Egyptian sea and waves roaring, the powers of heaven or (governments) being shaken in anticipation of Christ’s return when he comes with “power and great glory”. In the great turmoil that is coming on Egypt they will be “given over into the hand of a cruel lord” (Isaiah 19:4) which will happen during the invasion Israel and Egypt described in Ezekiel 38 and Daniel 11 by the Islamic state . That is the picture that we expect to emerge; a divided Arab world with each side allied to other major powers. So when we see "the Egyptians against the Egyptians" we know from Isaiah's prophecy that the outcome will be their eventual surrender to "a cruel lord" (Isaiah 19:4), for as Daniel also says (Daniel 11:42) "the land of Egypt shall not escape." Isaiah also tells us of Egypt's economic woes (verses 5 to 10). Such is "the burden of Egypt" (the oracle concerning Egypt, RV) before the God of Israel heals them (verse 22). "In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom Yahweh of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance."
