An event co-organised by the Centre of Governance and Human Rights (CG+HR), Cambridge, The Council for Assisting Refugee Academics (CARA) and CRASSH, in which refugee academics shared their experiences confronting professional and personal threats in their native countries along with the challenges of settling and working in the UK.

Scholars at Risk (SAR) is een internationaal netwerk van 330 hoger onderwijsinstellingen in 35 landen dat zich inzet voor de bescherming en ondersteuning van vervolgde wetenschappers. In 2009 lanceerde het UAF het Nederlandse programma van Scholars at Risk.
Robert Quinn, executive director at Scholars at Risk, participated last week in a conference on academic freedoms at Manouba University. In this sit-down interview, Quinn offers his organization's support to Tunisian professors, who may feel under threat, and compares the state of academic freedom in Tunisia compared with the rest of the world.
SAR-UNICA's academic freedom seminar from March 2013, held at Freie Universitat Berlin. As part of the 'Courage to Think' campaign, Scholars at Risk invites stories from scholars who have been helped and campus leaders, administrators, faculty, students and friends who have opened their hearts and homes to them.

In april 2014 organiseerde het Scholars at Risk Network (SAR) samen met Stichting voor Vluchteling-Studenten UAF een internationaal congres: ‘Freedom to think, responsibility to act: universities, academic freedom and human rights’. The Courage to Think monologues feature local actors performing the stories of scholars who refuse to stop thinking, questioning, and sharing ideas, despite terrible risks.
