HeyUSA:
Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart (real life besties) will uncover America, conquering a city-a-week with the help of their fans and followers. That's right, they'll be guided around the nation's coolest cities and best-kept secrets by your tweets and your suggestions of where to go and what to do.
And don't worry if you don't live in the farm-to-table paradise of Portland or the music Mecca of Austin- our adventurers are just as open to the relaxed margaritaville vibe of Key West or the rural charm of one stoplight towns like Marfa, Texas.
Nothing is too bizarre for this pair of open-minded explorers, on a mission to discover the absurd and the awesome.

In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States.
I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti.
While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next portion of my video guide I give a tour of my "crib" to show what it's like to live and stay in a tiny house.
Then, in an effort to get a chance to experience the famed brunch scene in Portland, I stopped in at The Tin Shed Garden Cafe, located down the street from where I was staying in the New Alberta Arts District.
In the interest of learning more about food, I headed to the downtown location of the Portland Farmers Market, located in a beautiful stretch of downtown Portland. Here, I got a tour of the grounds with Mona Johnson, then had the opportunity to meet up with some of the vendors, including Matt Choi of Choi's Kimchi Company, and famed chef and artisanal pickle impresario, David Barber of Picklopolis and Bingo! Sandwiches.
In need of a little peace and serenity, I then visited the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a peaceful and beautiful oasis in an otherwise busy and hectic part of downtown.
When visiting Portland, there's no reason to spend all your time in the city, especially with so much to do outside the city limits. The next day I took a road trip with local Matthew Domingo to explore the Columbia River Gorge and the numerous trails and waterfalls just off the road you can check out.
Then, to wrap things up, we stopped in at Hood River Organic near the riverside town of Hood River, an organic orchard and farm run by East Coast ex-pat Dan Thall, who gave us a tour of his land. Once the day ended we then headed out to happy hour at Solera Brewery in the imposing shadow of Mount Hood and then into town for a dinner featuring mushroom pizza with mushrooms Dan had grown and recently delivered to the restaurant.

Driving Downtown - Portland Oregon USA - Season 1 Episode 16.
Starting Point: Broadway https://goo.gl/maps/ScwzUuUJB1v .
Portland (/ˈpɔrtlənd/) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the county seat of Multnomah County. It is located in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The city covers 145 square miles (376 km²) and had an estimated population of 619,360 in 2014,[7][9] making it the 28th most populous city in the United States. Approximately 2,348,247 people live in the Portland metropolitan statistical area (MSA), the 24th most populous MSA in the United States. Its Combined Statistical Area (CSA) ranks 17th with a population of 3,022,178.
Named after the city in Maine, Portland was settled in the 1840s near the end of the Oregon Trail. Its water access provided convenient transportation of goods, and the timber industry was a major force in the city's early economy. At the turn of the 20th century, the city had developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous port cities in the world, a hub for organized crime and racketeering. After the city's economy experienced an industrial boom during World War II, its hard-edged reputation began to dissipate. Beginning in the 1960s,[10] Portland became noted for its growing liberal political values, and the city has earned a reputation as a bastion of counterculture which has proceeded into the 21st century.[11] According to a 2009 Pew Research Center study, Portland ranks as the 8th most popular American city, based on where people want to live.[12]
The city operates with a commission-based government guided by a mayor and four commissioners as well as Metro, the only directly elected metropolitan planning organization in the United States.[13] The city government is notable for its land-use planning and investment in public transportation.[14] Portland is frequently recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious cities in the world because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and 10,000+ acres of public parks.[15] Its climate is marked by warm, dry summers and chilly, rainy winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and Portland has been called the "City of Roses" for over a century.[16][17] "Keep Portland Weird" is an unofficial slogan for the city.[18]

WATCH THE WHOLE VID IT HAS NOTHING BUT ACTION IN IT! You won't be bored I promise! Lol Or.. I could just shut up? Well Anyway...
I have never seen Portland so radical before and angry and full of energy ever in my life of protesting. We did get into some really intense situations the most intense a Portland May Day has EVER been!
I got Pepper sprayed 3 times in the whole day. This video proves I got sprayed with their chemical weapons. I also got flash banged again go me! lol.
Another unique thing I've never ever seen before was the PIGS fearing for their lives that they were afraid to really do anything, they didn't arrest anyone! The cops were begging their commanders and shit to retreat they were so panicky and finally they started running away. I've never seen the cops run away before. We totally made the bullies back down and show that they are only cowards who bully us.
This was also a protest in Solidarity with Baltimore, Maryland!
Anyways BEST MAY DAY EVER!

Recorded on January 5, 2015
McMenamins Kennedy School, Portland, Oregon
Portland may be the largest city in Oregon, but it has had plenty of competition since the 1840s. As steamboats and then railroads tied the Pacific Northwest into the national economy, cities in different corners of Oregon experienced booming growth. Carl Abbott will present a lecture and slideshow that will start and end with a brief history of Portland, but will make brief stops along the way in cities as far apart as Astoria, Klamath Falls, and Baker City as he traces the development of a statewide system of cities and towns.
Carl Abbott taught at Portland State University from 1978 to 2013. He has written extensively on the history of Portland and the Pacific Northwest and has been active as a board member of a number of community groups, including the Oregon Encyclopedia, the Historic Preservation League of Oregon, the Oregon Downtown Development Association, and Livable Oregon. He is a contributor to the Oregonian and Portland Monthly and is a frequent speaker to community groups.

In Oktober 2014 we followed the call of Portlands reputation as a city with extraordinary musical output to film a Video-Mixtape packed with amazing artists living in the city. For two weeks we found a home in the basement of Singer/Songwriter Alela Diane`s apartment in Northeast Portland. Guided by local hero Toren Volkman we explored the depths of Sound from Portland.
“The Traveling Tapes – Portland” turned out to be a 40-minute video-mixtape featuring some of the best talent Portland has to offer at this time. Alela Diane performs a stunningly intimate, gripping version of “Lost Land” on the porch of her house. Radiation City brighten a shadowy appletree-garden with their jazzy, supersmooth blend of harmony-heavy folk. Barna Howard charms a sunny afternoon in Rose Garden with the longing beauty of the calm fingerpicking-tune “Lend Me A Moment”. Extraordinary drummer and lyricist Neal Morgan chips in with his unique spoken word poetry, performed in famous Tonalli’s Donut-Shop on Alberta-Street. Lost Lander give proof of the band’s very special chemistry and sense of catchiness while Ben Darwish of Morning Ritual croons a heartbreaking R’n’B-lamento in his studio at Falcon Art Community. Vikesh Kapoor contributes his gentrification-ballad “Ode To My Hometown” right off Mississippi-Street, PWRHAUS jump on a streetcar for an unusual live-performance of “Broken Man” and Houndstooth deliver “Emilia” of their current Album “No News From Home” with tequila-fueled intensity.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is a pair of twin suspension bridges that span the Tacoma Narrows strait of Puget Sound in Pierce County, Washington. The bridges connect the city of Tacoma with the Kitsap Peninsula and carry State Route 16 (known as Primary State Highway 14 until 1964) over the strait. Historically, the name "Tacoma Narrows Bridge" has applied to the original bridge nicknamed "Galloping Gertie", which opened in July 1940 but collapsed because of aeroelastic flutter four months later, as well as the replacement of the original bridge which opened in 1950 and still stands today as the westbound lanes of the present-day twin bridge complex.
The original Tacoma Narrows Bridge opened on July 1, 1940. It received its nickname "Galloping Gertie" because of the vertical movement of the deck observed by construction workers during windy conditions. The bridge became known for its pitching deck, and collapsed into Puget Sound the morning of November 7, 1940, under high wind conditions. Engineering issues as well as the United States' involvement in World War II postponed plans to replace the bridge for several years; the replacement bridge was opened on October 14, 1950.
By 1990, population growth and development on the Kitsap Peninsula caused traffic on the bridge to exceed its design capacity; as a result, in 1998 Washington voters approved a measure to support building a parallel bridge. After a series of protests and court battles, construction began in 2002 and the new bridge opened to carry eastbound traffic on July 15, 2007, while the 1950 bridge was reconfigured to carry westbound traffic.
At the time of their construction, both the 1940 and 1950 bridges were the third-longest suspension bridges in the world in terms of main span length, behind the Golden Gate Bridge and George Washington Bridge. The 1950 and 2007 bridges are now the fifth-longest suspension bridge spans in the United States, and the 38th-longest in the world.[citation needed]
Tolls were charged on the bridge for the entire four-month service life of the original span, as well as the first 15 years of the 1950 bridge. In 1965, the bridge's construction bonds plus interest were paid off, and the state ceased toll collection on the bridge. Over 40 years later, tolls were reinstated as part of the financing of the twin span, and are presently collected only from vehicles traveling eastbound.
