Portland may also refer to:
Portland (/ˈpɔːrtlənd/) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the seat of Multnomah County. It is located in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The city covers 145 square miles (376 km²) and had an estimated population of 619,360 in 2014, making it the 28th most populous city in the United States. Approximately 2,348,247 people live in the Portland metropolitan statistical area (MSA), the 24th most populous MSA in the United States. Its Combined Statistical Area (CSA) ranks 17th with a population of 3,022,178. Roughly 60 percent of Oregon's population resides within the Portland metropolitan area.
Named after the city in Maine, Portland was settled in the 1830s near the end of the Oregon Trail. Its water access provided convenient transportation of goods, and the timber industry was a major force in the city's early economy. At the turn of the 20th century, the city had developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous port cities in the world, a hub for organized crime and racketeering. After the city's economy experienced an industrial boom during World War II, its hard-edged reputation began to dissipate. Beginning in the 1960s, Portland became noted for its growing liberal political values, and the city has earned a reputation as a bastion of counterculture, a view which has proceeded into the 21st century. According to a 2009 Pew Research Center study, Portland ranks as the 8th most popular American city, based on where people want to live.

The University of Mississippi (colloquially known as Ole Miss) is a public, coeducational research university in Oxford, Mississippi, United States. Founded in 1848, the school is composed of the main campus in Oxford, four branch campuses located in Booneville, Grenada, Tupelo, and Southaven, as well as the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. It also operates the University of Mississippi Field Station in Abbeville. It is both a sea-grant and space-grant institute. Sixty percent of undergraduates are from Mississippi and 23 percent of all students are minorities. International students come from 93 nations. Ole Miss is Mississippi's largest university with a total enrollment of 23,838 in fall 2015.
The Mississippi Legislature chartered the University of Mississippi on February 24, 1844. The university opened its doors to its first class of 80 students four years later in 1848. For 23 years, the university was Mississippi's only public institution of higher learning, and for 110 years it was the state's only comprehensive university.

Journalist Dan Rather on Sunday penned an emotional open letter to President Trump, calling on him publicly address the stabbing attack in Portland that left two men dead after they tried to intervene against a white supremacist. The attack took place Friday on a MAX train, the city's light-rail system. Ricky John Best, 53, and Taliesin Namkai-Meche, 23, were fatally stabbed as they tried to stop a man yelling hate speech at two young women who appeared to be Muslim, police said. Another man, Micah David-Cole Fletcher, was injured in the knife attack. Jeremy Joseph Christian, a 35-year-old known white supremacist, was later arrested and is facing charges including aggravated murder. But two days later, Trump is still yet to address the incident. Pastor Cinque Talks about more Matthew 24 Race Wars, and how carrying a weapon would have helped (Luke 22:35-37). He also dives in to Dan Rather's Open Letter, ponders the concept of Trump turning on the Alt-Right, and the idea that these incidents will incite heroic Black Lives Matter Rioters and ANTIFA to go off nationwide causing Martial Law- the Nuclear Option. A RISK WE'RE WILLING TO TAKE TO STOP THESE ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE RACIAL ATTACKS. MARTIAL LAW IS INCREASINGLY NOT A BAD IDEA. http://www.riseupcomeout.org
The Portland Human Rights Commission monthly meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 PM - 11/4/15 This meeting due to the large attendance from the public, has held in the Portland Building this month. This meeting mostly consisted of discussion (including many community comments) on the recent vote by the HRC's endorsement of letter to the Socially Responsible Investments Committee (for Portland). Portland Oregon - Citizen Review Committee (CRC) (is a Portland police oversight volunteer committee) held a special CRC meeting on 4.26.16 to discuss their "media rules" in April 2016 regarding videographers and media folks who attend their public meetings. Flying Focus Video Collective (FFVC) represented their interest and concerns at this meeting. FFVC used a FOI to get public-emails by the CRC and police pertaining to the camera / placement issue and the right to film. {copy/pasted below} Though we were able to speculate that the Portland Police Association (PPA) had discussions with members of the Citizen Review Committee (CRC) asking us to move our camera from its usual location at CRC hearings, we received a final email from our public records request proving it so. Over a hundred people crowd into the Augustana Lutheran Church in NE Portland, Oregon to hear testimony from customers, mailers, and postal employees. Speakers reveal a postal crisis: deteriorating customer service, substandard working conditions, threatened post office closures, and financial debt. Notwithstanding the doom and gloom, many of those at the microphone bring forward ideas for positive change. After listening to testimony from over twenty speakers and after several rounds of questions by the panel, the Workers Rights Board issues recommendations to the assembly, including a pledge to meet with US Postal Service management to 1. urge that the USPS restore customer service and improve working conditions by fully staffing Portland-a...
