I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and I can say that with complete confidence, but I had been kinda sad about not having my closest friends and family aka my bridal party to live close enough to be able to go wedding dress shopping with me.
Let's just say I was not as excited as I should have been about shopping for my wedding dress because I figured I would be doing it alone. One day while I was on the phone with my mom I had told her I was kinda sad that I would have to shop for my dress alone, I had explained that I ended up buying a cheaper dress online that I hadn't even tried on because I didn't want to feel sad having to shop alone in stores. She told me that she would fly out to come dress shopping with me. I got so excited when she told me she was going to do that for me. She took the hour flight from LA to
Sacramento and we met to go dress shopping. I was SO excited to do this and it meant so much to me that she took the time to shop with me. I got teary eyed when I walked into
David's Bridal store. I got an overwhelming sense of joy and happiness knowing I was shopping for a dress even though I had already bought one. The dress I had bought wasn't nearly as nice as the ones I saw while I was browsing through the store. I just figured we were going into the store to try on dresses and to be able to experience what it is like to be able to do that with the people that are closest to you when you plan to be married. I saw a dress when I first walked in and thought it was gorgeous! I decided to try that one on and told the lady that was helping us to pick whatever she thought would look nice on me. I tried on the dresses and when I put the dress on that I had picked out I looked into the mirror and thought to myself, " This is the prettiest I have ever felt in my whole entire life". I felt like a real life princess. As I was thinking that thought to myself in my head my mom said, "
Wow you look like a princess!" It was then I knew I found my dream dress! It was stunning, people in the store walking by had stopped to admire the dress and said things like, " Wow, you look gorgeous!" and " You are so pretty." I had this boost of happiness and I wanted that dress SO bad, but I had already bought one.
Besides, that dress was one of the stores most expensive designer dresses and I had already told myself that I was spending so much money on the wedding that I wasn't going to spend that much on a dress that I was only going to wear for one day. I had a blast trying on dresses though and was very grateful that my mom had flown all the way just to do that with me. As we were walking out of the store my mom casually said, " I bought you the dress." I stopped in my steps and was shocked. I didn't believe it. I quickly said, " No you didn't." And my mom said, "
Yes, I did." I instantly started crying because I was so overwhelmed with happiness and I just couldn't believe she had done something so sweet for me. I think because I cried it made her cry because she saw how happy I was that I was going to be wearing a wedding dress that I could only dream of wearing walking down the aisle on my wedding day. I swear I hugged her for a good five minutes outside the store crying on her. I thanked her so many times and told her she didn't have to do that but how grateful I was. I wasn't expecting that at all. I just wanted to try on dresses with her because I thought it would be fun. It was such a magical moment and bond between my mother and I. I feel so lucky that I have such an amazing mother and I feel so blessed that she is able to afford to buy me something that means so much more than a pretty dress. Yes, it is a stunning dress but the meaning of why I am wearing the dress and what that means to me is so much more and to know that
I am going to feel the most beautiful I will ever feel in my life on a day that I am going to marry my best friend is an indescribable feeling, it can only be felt with the heart.
Cliche I now but it couldn't be more true. It felt like the beginning of a fairytale story. It was a very special day to say the least.
Thank you momma. This is something I will never forget, and I plan to wear the hell out of that dress on my wedding day, rock my wedding pictures, and frame that gorgeous dress in a shadow preservation box after the wedding and cherish it forever in my home forever.
I love you and my dress.
Love Channon
xoxo
