Driving Equality is a 100-day, 16,000-mile, 48-state trek across America to collect stories from LGBTQ people in an effort to raise awareness of the various forms of discrimination faced by our community in each state of the nation. Highlighting the differences in rights, laws, and amendments between the states will shed light on the current social standing of queer individuals today. I hope to create a dialogue about the disparities across the nation, and what can be done to end discrimination for all.
During the 100-day trip, I am meeting with LGBTQ community organizers, activists, and any citizens willing to talk, as well as our opposition. Through these interviews, I will gain an understanding of the current political climates, and explore ways of combating discrimination. Throughout my journey, I will make frequent posts on the website, including photos and video clips.

This films is based upon a true story of what happened to Michael Legge, one of the writers, as he was on his way to a meeting with Gordon. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss possible ideas for a new screenplay. After hearing Legge's bizarre experience. Gordon looked at him and said, "There's your story!" Three weeks later, this script was born. Gordon and Legge wrote the script, then Gordon went out and secured the financing, produced the film and completed principal photography, all in less than three months!

The title "XY" (1997) refers to the X- and Y-shape patterns made by the performer's sticks as they negotiate the setup. The work itself is founded upon various polyrythmic ratios (3:2, 5:4, 6:5) which in turn expand to form different melodic patterns throughout the trajectory of the work. For much of the time, as one hand is getting louder, the other hand is getting softer and vice versa. "XY" can be performed on any of the same five instruments whether they be wooden, skinned, or mnetallic.
Morris is the Artistic Director of Ensemble 64.8 (UAF percussion ensemble), the Artistic Director for the University of Alaska Fairbanks New Music Festival, the World Music Artistic Coordinator for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Co-Artistic Director for the SoundON Modern Music Festival held each year in San Diego.

Paris Aristotle discusses the report of the Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers in conversation with Michael Gordon, the National Affairs Editor of The Age.
Paris Aristotle AM is the Director of the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc (also known as Foundation House), a position he has held since helped found the organisation in 1987.
For over 25 years Paris has worked to in the refugee resettlement and humanitarian field and has held many senior positions on government advisory bodies. Currently Paris is Chair of the Minster for Immigration and Citizenship's Council on Asylum Seekers and Detention (MCASD). Paris is also a member of the federal government's Refugee Resettlement Advisory Council (RRAC), the Residence Determination Reference Group (RDRG) and the Onshore Protection Consultative Group (OPCG).
Paris has extensive experience in the area of refugee resettlement and the provision of services to survivors of torture and trauma. He has been a regular presenter and contributor to UNHCR meetings and publications over many years.
In 2002 Paris was made a Member of the Order of Australia and in 2003 was awarded an Australian Centenary Medal; both honours recognising his longstanding work with refugees and asylum seekers, in particular survivors of torture and trauma.
In 2012 Paris was appointed to the Prime Minister's Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers alongside Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC (Retired) and Professor Michael L'Estrange AO to advise and provide recommendations to the Government on policy options to deter asylum seekers from risking their lives on dangerous boat journeys to Australia. The panel's report was handed down on 13 August.

Michael Gordon (born Irving Kunin Gordon; September 6, 1909 – April 29, 1993) was an American stage actor and stage and film director.
Gordon was born in Baltimore and raised in a middle class Jewish community. He was a member of the Group Theatre (1935–1940), and was blacklisted as a Communist in the days of McCarthyism. He later joined the faculty of the UCLA Theatre Arts Department. Gordon summered at Pine Brook Country Club in Nichols, Connecticut. Pinebrook is best known for becoming the summer home of the Group Theatre. Some of the other artists who summered there were: Elia Kazan, Harry Morgan, John Garfield, Lee J. Cobb, Will Geer, Clifford Odets, Howard Da Silva and Irwin Shaw.
Because of his being blacklisted, Gordon's Hollywood career falls into two phases. In 1940, he started as a dialogue director and went on to direct B-movies. In the late 1940s, he distinguished himself by directing not just some action movies but also melodramas and films noir. He also directed the 1950 film Cyrano de Bergerac, for which José Ferrer won a Best Actor Academy Award. After his blacklisting, he was forced to stop directing films temporarily, but was called back to Hollywood at the end of the 1950s by producer Ross Hunter, who wanted him to direct Pillow Talk, a vehicle for Doris Day and Rock Hudson. Subsequently, Gordon's second creative phase was concerned with light-hearted comedy films.

Plot: Michael Gordon, star reporter with a nose for trouble, is heading home after completing a difficult assignment in Iraq. On a Damascus stopover he relays a tip to a fellow American newsman who subsequently ends up in a local camel market with a knife in his back. Even though everyone, including the American legation, seems to want Gordon to leave the country, he feels obliged to find his friend's murderer. Among the red herrings he must sort through in the "World's Oldest City" are an informing card cheat, a beautiful femme fatale, an enigmatic hotel owner, a Frenchman with two aliases, and several sinister Arabs. In short order, Gordon foils Nazi plots to unite the Arab tribes against the Allies and help the Germans seize the Suez Canal.

Director Brian Skiba Produced by Michael Z. Gordon, Screenplay by Gordon and Legge
This films is based upon a true story of what happened to Michael Legge, one of the writers, as he was on his way to a meeting with Gordon. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss possible ideas for a new screenplay. After hearing Legge's bizarre experience. Gordon looked at him and said, "There's your story!" Three weeks later, this script was born. Gordon and Legge wrote the script, then Gordon went out and secured the financing, produced the film and completed principal photography, all in less than three months!

The title "XY" (1997) refers to the X- and Y-shape patterns made by the performer's sticks as they negotiate the setup. The work itself is founded upon various polyrythmic ratios (3:2, 5:4, 6:5) which in turn expand to form different melodic patterns throughout the trajectory of the work. For much of the time, as one hand is getting louder, the other hand is getting softer and vice versa. "XY" can be performed on any of the same five instruments whether they be wooden, skinned, or mnetallic.
Morris is the Artistic Director of Ensemble 64.8 (UAF percussion ensemble), the Artistic Director for the University of Alaska Fairbanks New Music Festival, the World Music Artistic Coordinator for the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Co-Artistic Director for the SoundON Modern Music Festival held each year in San Diego.

Paris Aristotle AM is the Director of the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc (also known as Foundation House), a position he has held since helped found the organisation in 1987.
For over 25 years Paris has worked to in the refugee resettlement and humanitarian field and has held many senior positions on government advisory bodies. Currently Paris is Chair of the Minster for Immigration and Citizenship's Council on Asylum Seekers and Detention (MCASD). Paris is also a member of the federal government's Refugee Resettlement Advisory Council (RRAC), the Residence Determination Reference Group (RDRG) and the Onshore Protection Consultative Group (OPCG).
Paris has extensive experience in the area of refugee resettlement and the provision of services to survivors of torture and trauma. He has been a regular presenter and contributor to UNHCR meetings and publications over many years.
In 2002 Paris was made a Member of the Order of Australia and in 2003 was awarded an Australian Centenary Medal; both honours recognising his longstanding work with refugees and asylum seekers, in particular survivors of torture and trauma.
In 2012 Paris was appointed to the Prime Minister's Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers alongside Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC (Retired) and Professor Michael L'Estrange AO to advise and provide recommendations to the Government on policy options to deter asylum seekers from risking their lives on dangerous boat journeys to Australia. The panel's report was handed down on 13 August.

© 1992 Red Poppy Music, LTD Composer: Michael Gordon "When I wrote Industry in 1993, I was thinking about the Industrial Revolution, technology, how instruments are tools and how Industry has crept up on us and is all of a sudden overwhelming. I had this vision of a 100-foot cello made out of steel suspended from the sky, a cello the size of a football field, and, in the piece, the cello becomes a hugely distorted sound. I wrote this piece for Maya Beyser, and it was an incredible process. I would fax her the music and she'd play it to me over the phone. We did this maybe ten times, trying things out. She was constantly teaching me about the cello, and I was making her play things that were really awkward and dark." —Michael Gordon -

Michael Gordon - Feeling Of Love
In 1976 Michael Gordon reluctantly joined a local band, which soon became well known as the Investigators. Lacking musical experience, Michael was encouraged by band member Colin Burton the Guitarist, to front the band as lead vocalist. This was the start of something wonderful for Michael Gordon. The band went on to record Lovers Rock hits such as TURN OUT THE LIGHTS and BABY IM YOURS on their inner-city recording label. In 1985 the band split and Michael was signed to UK based Fashion Records in early 1986, working with the likes of Drummy Zeb and Tony Gadd from Aswad. This Collaboration spawned hit tracks such as MAGIC FEELING and LOVE IS IN THE AIR which subsequently lead to his debut solo album entitled FEELINGS OF LOVE. ABOUT THE PIECE:
Timber is an evening-length tour de force scored for six graduated wooden Simantras — percussion instruments devised by French composer Iannis Xenakis. The work brings the physicality, endurance and technique of percussion performance to a new level. Here, Gordon shapes the music in both polyrhythmic and dynamic waves of textures — often each players' hands are in separate rhythmic 'worlds,' each traversing a different dynamic contour from loud to soft to loud, similar in some respects to his solo for percussion, XY.
Much of Gordon's music demonstrates a deep exploration into the extreme possibilities and stunning nature of rhythm, as well as the enriching, yet disturbing, multi-dimensionality of polyrhythmic layers — what has been termed in his music to be "glorious confusion." Timber takes these elements and explores the extreme possibilities of rhythm and texture to a beautifully intense degree. The new evening-length work is a unique and exciting addition to the world of percussion.
Timber was commissioned by the dance company Club Guy and Roni, Slagwerkgroep den Haag and Mantra Percussion.

This is a very different kind of listening experience. This is the second in a series of works by Michael Gordon in which he is exploring the potentials of like instrument ensembles. Lacking musical experience, Michael was encouraged by band member Colin Burton the Guitarist, to front the band as lead vocalist.
This was the start of something wonderful for Michael Gordon.
The band went on to record Lovers Rock hits such as TURN OUT THE LIGHTS and BABY IM YOURS on their inner-city recording label.
In 1985 the band split and Michael was signed to UK based Fashion Records in early 1986, working with the likes of Drummy Zeb and Tony Gadd from Aswad.
This Collaboration spawned hit tracks such as MAGIC FEELING and LOVE IS IN THE AIR which subsequently lead to his debut solo album entitled FEELINGS OF LOVE.
This went to No.1 in the Reggae album charts and this is the title track from that album.
