For her, expression is not one discipline at the expense of others: all fields are expressions of facets of the same diamond. Her artwork, poetry, and music composition reveal aspects of how she relates to the world. However, it is at the piano that Asiya fully expresses what she feels, sees, and hears in the world. Passionate for all kinds of musical creation, Asiya is the first pianist to transcribe the entire Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata for piano solo. Her most recent achievement, a transcription of Richard Strauss’ last and most powerful tone poem, “Ein Heldenleben”, changes one’s perception of what is possible to do on the piano, as this 40-minute masterpiece embraces all kinds of orchestral techniques and colors, which Asiya is now able to deliver using just one instrument. Asiya’s enormous piano repertoire includes over 55 concertos, in addition to multiple solo and chamber programs. Her solo recitals and orchestra engagements include those in United States, Russia, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Luxembourg, Greece, Czech Republic, Kuwait, India, Great Britain, and Australia among others. After studying in Moscow and Saint Petersburg conservatories in Russia, in 2012 Asiya started working on her Doctoral Degree in the U. S. Since arriving, she continued a busy tour schedule. She won First Prize and the Gold Medal at the Nina Wideman International Piano Competition (2012), in Shreveport, Louisiana. She played for an audience of National Radio Station WFMT when she made her Chicago debut as part of the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Series. She made her Washington, D.C. debut at the Phillips Collection, which was aired on NPR station WETA. Asiya is a regular recitalist for the Sarasota Artist Series and the Steinway Series in Boca Raton, FL. For the past two years she has also performed with multiple orchestras including the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. In March 2014, the Sarasota Music Festival invited her back as one of five “Shooting Stars” to help commemorate the event’s fifty years of existence. From 2013 to 2015, Asiya was on faculty with the Endless Mountain Music Festival in Pennsylvania, where she also extensively performed solo, with chamber groups and with Festival Orchestra, getting invited back for the next summer. Born in Izhevsk, Udmurtia, Russia in a family of professional musicians, she began playing at age 4. By age 8 she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 8 (with her own cadenza) with the State Symphony Orchestra of Udmurtia and gave her first full philharmonic recital. At age twelve, Asiya received the Russian Federation’s President Award for “Exceptional Achievement in the Arts.” Since then, Asiya also received the National Award from the Republic of Udmurtia (2002), Germany’s Berliner Salon Award (2003), and Russia’s Triumph Award (2005). She was supported by the Vladimir Spivakov Charitable Foundation from 1999 to 2005. In 2009, Asiya became an Honored Artist of Udmurtia, and a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic Society. Asiya is currently finishing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the guidance of world-renowned pianist Santiago Rodriguez at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, in Coral Gables, FL. Her past teachers include Elisso Virssaladze, Emmanuel Monaszon, Mikhail Lidsky and Peter Laul. She has also had master classes with Roselyn Tureck, Menahem Pressler, Maria Curcio, Robert Levin, Dmitry Bashkirov, Vladimir Krainev, Susan Starr, and Claude Frank. Among conductors she worked with are Hans Graf, Enrique Mazzola, Vladimir Spivakov, Alexander Sladkovsky, Mark Gorenstein, Fuat Mansurov, Joseph Silverstein, Stephen Gunzenhauser, Jeffrey Rink, Michael Butterman and Ion Marin. – By Herman Evans
