Andrew is the English form of a given name common in many countries. In the 1990s it was among the top ten most popular names for boys in English-speaking countries. In Italian, the equivalent to "Andrew" is "Andrea", though "Andrea" is feminine in most other languages. "Andrew" is frequently shortened to "Andy" or "Drew". The word is derived from the Greek: Ανδρέας, Andreas, itself related to Ancient Greek: ἀνήρ/ἀνδρός aner/andros, "man" (as opposed to "woman"), thus meaning "manly" and, as consequence, "strong", "courageous", and "warrior". In the King James Bible, the Greek "Ἀνδρέας" is translated as Andrew.
In 2000, the name Andrew was the second most popular name in Australia. In 1999, it was the 19th most common name, while in 1940, it was the 31st most common name. Andrew was the first most popular boys name in the Northern Territory in 2003 to 2015 and continuing. In Victoria, Andrew was the first most popular name for a boy in the 1970s.
Andrew was the 20th most popular name chosen for male infants in 2005. Andrew was the 16th most popular name for infants in British Columbia in 2004, the 17th most popular name in 2003, and the 19th most popular name in 2002. In 2001, it was the 18th most common name. From 1999 – 2003, Andrew was the sixth most often chosen name for a boy.

Thanks to a happy coincidence of schedules, Skidompha Library was able to host a "pop up" Chats with Champions on short notice. Andrew Hubbard, a Lincoln Academy graduate, was our guest presenter on May 12, 2015 in the Porter Meeting Hall. Andy read selections from his latest title, "Things That Get You," and talking about his diverse and distinguished career in corporate training, publishing, competitive weight-lifting--and as a poet. "Things That Get You" engages the essential questions of life, reflecting on the connectivity of humanity and nature, and the importance of love and family today. Hubbard’s poetry explores what it means to be a father, a husband, and a man. His thoughtful approach and beautifully crafted verses paint a vivid landscape of the mind recreating his imagistic ...
Ken Wilber Receives Humanity's Team 2016 Spiritual Leadership Award On Friday, June 24th we (Humanity's Team) presented Ken Wilber with our Spiritual Leadership Award. The ceremony took place in Denver, Colorado at Ken's home. While it was a much more intimate setting than past presentations, the words Steve Farrell, Humanity's Team Worldwide Executive Director, spoke came from the heart. Since only a handful of us from Humanity's Team Global could attend, those of us present read notes of appreciation for Ken's work and accomplishments from those who could not attend. Some may not be familiar with the history of the Humanity's Team Spiritual Leadership Award, so we thought we'd briefly tell you about it. Shortly after our founding, in 2005, we decided we could help accelerate spiritual...

Standing on the corner
Plastic cup in her hand
Standing on the corner
Saving for some gin
You don't need to ask where she's been or what's up
She'll gladly tell you all about the life she had
Before she had the cup
Standing by the window
Glass of milk in his hand
What could I have done what could I have said
Broken glass spilled milk lying on the floor looking dead
Window pain
Cutting through the rain looks so easy
Frame by frame
Looking for a name to claim on a breezy afternoon
And the ends coming soon
So many people hold a cup
So many die drinking milk in front of a window
I once knew a woman who got in the way
Of the intentions of a windy day
Don't hold a cup in any season
Don't make me choose between rhyme or reason
Don't drink that milk in front of that window
