Complex is a New York-based media platform for youth culture which was founded as a bi-monthly magazine by fashion designer Marc Ecko.Complex reports on trends in style, pop culture, music, sports and sneakers with a focus on niche cultures such as streetwear, sneaker culture, hip-hop, and graphic art. Complex currently reaches over 120 million unique users per month across its owned and operated and partner sites, socials and YouTube channels.

Complex has won numerous accolades, including several from Business Insider such as Most Valuable Startups in New York and Most Valuable Private Companies in the World, as well as the Silicon Alley 100 for Complex CEO Rich Antoniello. In 2012, the company launched Complex TV, an online broadcasting platform that has won numerous awards and has found great success with original shows, such as Complex News, First Look music videos, Fashion Bros and Sneaker Shopping.

History

Complex was established in 2002 by the founder of the Ecko Unltd. brand, Marc Ecko, as a print magazine aimed at providing young males a report of the latest in hip-hop, fashion and pop culture without regard to race. The name Complex evolved from a slogan developed to promote the Ecko website: "Ecko.complex". The idea was to create a men's magazine that combined Ecko's streetwear and hip-hop attitude along with the style of Japanese men's magazines by providing consumer guides. This was achieved by creating a magazine in two sections: one traditional magazine, and the other a shopping guide.

Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model

The Dewar–Chatt–Duncanson model is a model in organometallic chemistry which explains the type of chemical bonding between an alkene and a metal (pi-complex) in certain organometallic compounds. The model is named after Michael J. S. Dewar,Joseph Chatt and L. A. Duncanson.

The pi-acid alkene donates electron density into a metal sp³ orbital from a π-symmetry bonding orbital between the carbon atoms. The metal donates electrons back from (a different) filled d-orbital into the empty π^*antibonding orbital. Both of these effects tend to reduce the carbon-carbon bond order, leading to an elongated C-C distance and a lowering of its vibrational frequency.

In Zeise's salt K[PtCl₃(C₂H₄)]^.H₂O the C-C bond length has increased to 134 picometres from 133 pm for ethylene. In the nickel compound Ni(C₂H₄)(PPh₃)₂ the value is 143 pm.

The interaction also causes carbon atoms to "rehybridise" from sp² towards sp³, which is indicated by the bending of the hydrogen atoms on the ethylene back away from the metal.In silico calculations show that 75% of the binding energy is derived from the forward donation and 25% from backdonation. This model is a specific manifestation of the more general pi backbonding model.

Originality

Originality is the aspect of created or invented works by as being new or novel, and thus can be distinguished from reproductions, clones, forgeries, or derivative works. An original work is one not received from others nor one copied from or based upon the work of others.. It is a work created with a unique style and substance. The term "originality" is often applied as a compliment to the creativity of artists, writers, and thinkers. The idea of originality as we know it was invented by Romanticism, with a notion that is often called romantic originality.

The concept of originality is culturally contingent. It became an ideal in Western culture starting from the 18th century. In contrast, at the time of Shakespeare it was common to appreciate more the similarity with an admired classical work, and Shakespeare himself avoided "unnecessary invention".

Originality in law

In law, originality has become an important legal concept with respect to intellectual property, where creativity and invention have manifest as copyrightable works. In the patent law of the United States and most other countries, only original inventions are subject to protection. In addition to being original, inventions submitted for a patent must also be useful and nonobvious.

Original (Leftfield song)

"Original" is a song by Leftfield, released as the sixth single under that name. The song was released on 12" and CD on 13 March 1995. It featured Toni Halliday on vocals. The song gave the group their first appearance on Top of the Pops and reached #18 in the UK charts. The beginning of the song is used often on the UK version of Big Brother.

Mix is an ongoing Japanese baseball shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Mitsuru Adachi. It is a semi-sequel to Touch. Plot

Volume 2 was the 48th best-selling manga volume from November 19, 2012 to May 19, 2013, with 390,176 copies and the 82nd best-selling manga volume from November 19, 2012 to November 17, 2013 with 464,362 copies. By April 6, 2013, volume 3 had sold 319,599 copies. By January 12, 2014, volume 4 had sold 182,060 copies.
