Meendum Savithri is a 1996 Tamil drama film directed by Visu. The film features Revathi, Saranya Ponvannan, Nizhalgal Ravi and Raja in lead roles, with Ramesh Aravind, Visu, Nagesh, Jaiganesh, Annapoorna, Seetha and Pandu playing supporting roles. The film, produced by B. Nagi Reddy, had musical score by Devendran .
Manju (Revathi) is an outspoken woman and she works in a small company. She lives with her father Narayana Moorthy (Visu) who tries to reform the people as much as possible. Belonging to a middle class family, she cannot provide a dowry for the potential grooms. One day, Manju comes across an innovative advertisement : a groom is looking for a bride without any dowries. The groom is Vasudevan (Raja) who seems to be the perfect future husband. When Manju and Narayana Moorthy meet his family, Narayana Moorthy is very shocked. Vasudevan's father Ramamoorthy (Nagesh) became mentally ill when his business failed, his sister Gayathri (Seetha) became mantally ill when someone raped her, his brother Bhaskar (Ramesh Aravind) is a drunkard and his mother (Annapoorna) is an asthma patient. Finally, Manju and Vasudevan get married. Vasudevan's family was in fact acting, they are perfectly all right but they are scared of something. The truth is that Vasudevan was already married to Uma (Saranya Ponvannan). What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Visu (Tamil: விசு), born 1941 is a Tamil writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk show host from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Visu fine tuned his directorial skills under the mentor-ship of legendary K. Balachander until becoming a full fledged director. He ventured into acting in his self directed Tamil Movie, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam meaning family is a mixture, which was a talk of the period for its crisp story line, sensitive story, sensational dialogues and timed jokes. Furtheron, he directed movies like Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram which was remade in almost in all Indian languages based on a short story, Thirumathi oru Vegumathi, Manal Kayiru etc.
A philanthropist, Visu had been supporting the needy thorough his own foundation. The Program at Jaya TV "Visuvin Makkal Arangam" had been serving for a genuine cause since its inception. Legendary Tamil actress Manorama died of multiple organ failure in Chennai on Saturday. She was 78.
Manorama is survived by her son and singer-actor Boopathy. Manorama was
lovingly called Aachi by her admirers. The Tamil actress appeared in more
than 1,000 films and holds the record of having acted with 5 chief ministers
of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
She has acted in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. In of one of her
last interviews, Manorama said she has no regrets at all and feels blessed
to have done all she did in her life and career.
manorama"Even in my next birth, I want to be born as Manorama again. I want
this same life, and same people around me. Most of all, I want my mom with me again.
" Manorama’s body will be kept for public viewing at her house in Chennai

Manorama played the female lead in the plays written, directed and acted in
by former Tamil Nadu chief minister CN Annadurai besides appearing in plays
with another chief minister M Karunanidhi.
Manorama also acted in Telugu films with NT Rama Rao, who went on to become
chief minister of the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh.Born Gopishantha
to Kasi Kilakudaiyar and Ramamirtham at Mannargudi in Thanjavur district of
Tamil Nadu, she started her acting career on stage at age 12. She was
rechristened Manorama by drama director Thiruvengadam and harmonist
Thiyagarajan and migrated from dramas to the silver screen with the role
of a heroine in the 1958 Tamil film 'Maalayitta Mangai’.
Her performance in the 1968 Tamil movie 'Thillana Mohanambal' is considered

and Padmini in the film.
Her on-screen pairing with comedian Nagesh, ‘Cho' Ramaswamy and later with
