George Rodrigue (March 13, 1944 – December 14, 2013) was an American artist originally from New Iberia, Louisiana, who in the late 1960s began painting Louisiana landscapes, followed soon after by outdoor family gatherings and southwest Louisiana 19th century and early 20th century genre scenes. His paintings often include moss-clad oak trees, common to an area of French Louisiana known as Acadiana. In the mid-1990s Rodrigue's Blue Dog paintings, based on a Cajun legend called loup-garou, catapulted him to worldwide fame.
His funeral mass was open to the public, held St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, New Orleans.
Rodrigue attended the Brothers of the Christian Schools all-male high school called St. Peter's College, (now Catholic High School) which was located near St. Peter's Church, and near the banks of the Bayou Teche running through New Iberia. He studied art formally at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (then named the University of Southwestern Louisiana) and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He returned to Louisiana in the late 1960s, and became well known for his interpretations of Cajun subjects and landscapes, inspired by his roots.

Plot: Eleven directors from 11 countries each contribute an 11-minute short reflecting on the events of 11 September 2001. A village teacher in Iran tries to explain to her young students what's happened. City kids in Burkina Faso think they've spotted Osama bin Laden. A mother endures more than her son's death. And so on. The tone varies, as do the locales. Most stories are about others coming to terms with the events of the day, but at least one confronts the viewer with tragedy and death.

Opening Whitney White Linen Night in New Orleans, the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts presents The Bayou Collection by George Rodrigue. Based on Rodrigue's research of regional myths and legends, these 40 canvases, painted between 1981 and 1984, represent Cajun ghost stories. The paintings complement a text by author Chris Segura for the book Bayou (Inkwell Press), compiled for the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans. Although rooted in his Cajun style, this important collection includes Watch Dog, Rodrigue's interpretation of the loup-garou, a French-Cajun werewolf or ghost dog, which seeded his most famous body of work, The Blue Dog Series. Held within a private collection since 1984, The Bayou Collection premieres for the first time publicly on Whitney White Linen Night! Credit ...

Artist George Rodrigue discusses his work and his New Orleans Museum of Art exhibition. Produced by Luis Cubillos and Cohn & Wolfe for the launch of Rodrigue's new book Blue Dog Speaks (Sterling Publishing Co Inc, October, 2008). Blue Dog Speaks When Cajun artist George Rodrigue began his series of Blue Dog paintings in 1984, he had no idea that they would consume the greater part of his life for over two decades, and that the mysterious Blue Dog—inspired by his studio dogturned-model, Tiffany, and the Cajun loup-garou folk legend—would become a wildly popular international icon as well. Blue Dog Speaks is the first book to prominently emphasize Rodrigues painting titles, one of the most important elements in the creation of a Blue Dog painting, alongside the works. Rodrigue uses Blue...

You're gorgeous, flawless, roll for me the hardest
Open up that box and try to show me where her heart is
Hurt is, couldn't store love like she's hardy
Maybe it was meant to be hurt you it takes like orbit
I started spacing off, and she got jaded
Her friends stop popping off, when they got faded like
Passion, passion, she was already lost in
Girl I ain't wanna leave me swear I laid it down proper
She was all in my bbm tryina watch it close like I'm dvr
Put it in the middle like a medium
And minding on the stars like I'm media
Damn, it's ugly, way you don't give a fuck b
I played a lot of games till she threw it back like rugby
And I caught it, caught it on a second then I bought it
Spent some days thinking about it, any maze girl I slept on you
Like what's waking up if you're shaking up the whole world that I once known
If glitter falls, you loose it all, ain't no appearance, no glow
[Chorus]
So if I give you my thing, promise not to break it
I'll take your love and, I'll never forsake it, no
Let this be a love trade
Like wizzy and georgey, you know I was made for you
So baby gonna get it right
Yeah we may fuss and we may fight
But we can make it up all night long
And if I give you my all, would it mean anything
And if I go husting for you hard
Would it be my any means, that I guarded
Just tryina be honest, I won't admit for no promise
When we started, we departed,
Told me the new times due to my cautious
I know I paused it, I played you round
Stopped our flow and fade it out
You stayed calm and waited out
Like when them grey jays came out
Nasty shit that I've been meaning
Understand it without reason
Bonnie and clyde flow
We the type of team that get a ring
And come back season's round the corner
My payer call my folder
These hoes get no love, girl you don't want this cold shoulder
You're ocean to my peer, we can see the sunshine from here
Know you tired of all these waters for real
But I got something new I wanna show you
I guess we're grown up
When love bubbles like a soda
I guess this is a jones, huh
Say baby can I be your slave
Give me your flower, you can dig my grave
Death to my old ways, ...ears
[Chorus]
So if I give you my thing, promise not to break it
I'll take your love and, I'll never forsake it, no
Let this be a love trade
Like wizzy and georgey, you know I was made for you
So baby gonna get it right
Yeah we may fuss and we may fight
