French prog-metal veterans Gojira blend vivid, sinister images in their video for "Low Lands," a track from the band's acclaimed sixth LP, Magma. The clip, directed by Alain Duplantier, cousin of singer-guitarist Joe Duplantier and drummer Mario Duplantier, features the brothers' childhood home in Ondres, France, near a stormy ocean.
"You're invisible/ You're in everything," Joe sings over droning guitars and marching snares. "Tell me what you see/ When you're everywhere." The shapeshifting track climaxes with a foreboding blast and fades out with a gentle acoustic guitar.
Magma, the quartet's hyped follow-up to 2012's L'Enfant Sauvage, was inspired by the death of the Duplantiers' mother.
"I felt physically, mentally exhausted," Joe told Rolling Stone of the emotional recording sessions. "At the same time, though, the way it happened was beautiful. We were all around her. We had to cancel a few shows when she died, but it was very enriching at the same time. We learned a lot about death."
