Shaolin Kung Fu is among the oldest institutionalized style of Chinese martial arts. Shaolin kung fu originated and was developed in the Buddhist Shaolin temple in Henan province, China. During the 1500 years of its development, Shaolin kung fu, with its rich content, became one of the largest schools of kung fu. Three monks got involved in a fight at the Ningguo temple, in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, on April 24. According to thepaper.cn, the monks are all mid-level managers at the temple. The video shows several monks and tourists trying to stop the fighters in front of the temple. The head monk of the Ningguo temple has dismissed all three monks, and said, “We insist on [following] the principal of quality over quantity,” over Wechat, a Chinese social media platform. The head monk added that they broke the principle of Buddhism and set a bad example for society.
The video has gone viral and led to a heated discussion. @Adolph said, “Some of the monks in the temple nowadays are not sincerely Buddhism converts. Many normal people are more religious than monks.” Some monks have proven to be frauds, and cases have continually occurred in China, leaving an even worse impression of the monk to the wider public.

A monk from a Shaolin Temple in southeast China' s Fujian Province recently ran across the surface of a water reservoir for a total distance of 118 meters on Sunday. Footage of his amazing performance went viral shortly thereafter. -

Three monks got involved in a fight at the Ningguo temple, in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, on April 24. According to thepaper.cn, the monks are all mid-level managers at the temple. The video shows several monks and tourists trying to stop the fighters in front of the temple. The head monk of the Ningguo temple has dismissed all three monks, and said, “We insist on [following] the principal of quality over quantity,” over Wechat, a Chinese social media platform. The head monk added that they broke the principle of Buddhism and set a bad example for society. Mountain Monks is a docu-travelogue produced and filmed in the Eastern Himalayas by Vasudeva Joly for BhakTV. Mountain Monks takes a candid look at the many similarities between two monastic traditions of Tibet and India, as seen in Lamaist Buddhism and Vaishnava Hinduism. The first half-hour of the film is set in Darjeeling and the scenic foothills of North Bengal. The second half-hour starts in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. In the surrounding mountains Vasudeva interviews a young lama at the ancient Rumtek Monastery, and takes us on a scary ride up a steep mountain road that was destroyed by a 6.9 earthquake in 2011.
