Gupta

Gupta (/ˈɡuːptə/; Devanagari: गुप्ता) is a common surname of Indian origin.

According to some academics, the name Gupta is derived from Sanskrit goptri, meaning 'protector' or 'governor'. According to prominent historian R. C. Majumdar, the surname Gupta was adopted by several different communities in northern and eastern India at different times.

Gupta Technologies

Gupta Technologies, LLC, taken over by Unify Corporation in 2006, is a software development company whose principal products are the SQL relational database SQLBase, a mobile HTML5 enterprise development system called TD Mobile and a Rapid application development system called Team Developer (also known as SQLWindows). The company is considered as the provider of the world's first client/server relational database software that would run on Personal Computers (PC) rather than Mini Computers.

Company history

It was founded in 1984 by Umang Gupta, a former Vice President and General Manager of the Microcomputer Products Division at Oracle Corporation. Gupta's first product was SQLBase, followed by SQLWindows, which combined SQLBase with a graphical user interface and programming language for creating business applications. SQLWindows was one of the first GUI development tools for Microsoft Windows. The company went public in 1993 (NASDAQ: GPTA).

The name of the company was changed to Centura Software in the late 1990s. In February 2001 Centura was taken over by the Platinum Equity investment company. Centura Software filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in August 2001, and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission revoked the registration of Centura's common stock in December 2004. After the bankruptcy, some assets were kept by a reborn Gupta Technologies LLC. In January 2005 Gupta Technologies, LLC was bought by another investor, Warp Technology Holdings, Inc. In May 2005 the company changed its name to Halo Technology Holdings, Inc. In September 2006 the company was acquired by Unify Corporation. In June 2010 Unify announced its merger with Daegis, a US company that provides software for electronic discovery in litigation matters. In November 2012 the Unify database and development tools division was renamed back to Gupta Technologies. Gupta's headquarters are in Roseville, California.

Jorge Siddhartha Gonzalez

Jorge Siddhartha Gonzalez Ibarra (Guadalajara, Jalisco), better known as Siddhartha, is a soloist rock musician based in Mexico. Siddhartha began his solo career after being the former drummer of Zoé. He has recorded three albums: Why You?, Náufrago (Castaway) and El Vuelo Del Pez (Flight of fish).

Siddhartha became one of the most promising artists in Mexico´s music scene just after releasing his first album Why You?, in a casual and independent way (2008). His debut album was considered one of the best works of the country.

Zoé

Zoé is a Latin Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band. They initially formed in Mexico City in 1994, although membership started to stabilize in 1997. The band has achieved success in Mexico and most Spanish-speaking countries with albums such as Rocanlover, Memo Rex Commander y el Corazón Atómico de la Vía Láctea and Reptilectric.

History

Zoé's history begins in Mexico in 1994, as Britpop was becoming popular in the United Kingdom. Mainly inspired by this movement, with slight influences from Seattle's grunge, Zoé would go through a period of changing lineups and varying styles before stabilizing in 1997, with León Larregui (guitar and voice), Sergio Acosta (guitar), Alberto Cabrera (drums), Ángel Mosqueda (bass), and Jesus Báez (keyboards). By this time, a clear influence from The Beatles could be seen alongside the aforementioned Britpop and grunge stylings.

1998–2004: Debut album and Rocanlover

Faced with a lack of venues in which to showcase their music, Zoé relied upon self-organized concerts, the Internet, and a self-published demo. All of these efforts, plus a good deal of positive word of mouth, helped them gain popularity in Spanish-language radio stations in the United States. They signed their first recording contract in 1998, but nothing came of it. They independently released a debut album in 2000 that attracted the attention of Sony Music, who in turn took over distribution of the album. Popular songs from this recording included "Asteroide" and "Miel." Following the success of this album, some of their songs were included in the soundtracks of movies like Amar Te Duele, Ladies Night, and The Dreamer.
