On my own? Goodbye? Loved? Why did you do this to me? A sad story #4
Nat could just simply look at her while she walks away and tears came up, he putted himself a goal, he wouldn't be a dumb boy like his mom thinks he is and show her that he is better than that so she could come back. He heard Alex scream and it broke his heart, he walked away to his room and started to scream and kick the stuff in his way.
Nat-"I'll show you, mom. You'll be back and I'll prove you wrong"
Allie-"Mom, could I go for a ride on my bike?"
Laura-"sure, be careful though"
Jim-"Yes, when your back, your mom and I may not be home."
Allie-"right, you guys are going out today"
Laura-"That's right, better behave now"

Laura-"That's right, better behave now"
Allie-"I will mom"*laughs a bit* "Have fun guys, and I'll be right back"*kisses them both in the cheek and leaves*
Jim & Laura-*laughs*
Allie rode her bike around the park for a quite while then she went to sit on a bench she saw. Nat had been sitting quietly in his bed, he looked at the wall. He thought of the way his mom left and why. He felt guilty and times and felt like he should have gone out of the house. He finally got out to see what's going on, everything was quiet, Michael and Alex had fallen asleep on the couch, he decided to go out and walk around. He had too much problems for his age, when he saw kids playing around with their parents, he felt jealous and wished that his family would be like that.
Polly-"Hey John" *kissing him*
John-"You finally left those fools"*mumbling*
Polly-"Not my son, Alex" *gets away from him*
John-"You wouldn't have left him"
Polly-"He will survive"
John-"Plan to go back?"
Polly-"Maybe, I don't feel like going"
John-*laughs* "What don't you like about Nat?"
Polly-"I'm not willing to share that with you"* puts her arms around his neck and kisses him*
John-"Let's go to LA, it will be so much fun"
Polly-"I'll go anywhere with you"
Nat walked around Allie spotted him; he was a bit far away, but she knew he looked familiar. He got closer and closer and finally knew it was Nat, the boy she had met on the park the other day. She got closer to him slowly.
Allie-"Umm, Nat?"
Nat-*confused look*"Do I know you?"
Allie-"what? You don't remember me?"
Nat-*smiles confused*"Umm"
Allie-"Your brother and you played with Kristina and I the other day"
Nat-"oh, now I remember!" *laughs* "So sorry, your umm Al-"
Allie-"Allie" *smiles*
Nat-"Right, well it was nice seeing you again"*starts to leave*
Allie-"wait, how come you didn't come to play last time?"
Nat-"I was busy. Sorry"
Allie-"Well, want to get some ice cream, it's all on me"
Nat-"Well-"
Allie-"It will be fun and that way, we will get to know each other better"
Nat-"Alright"
They walked away and went off quiet, until they found an ice-cream truck, and they each order one.
Allie-"So what were you doing walking around the park all alone?"
Nat-"The park seems peaceful and well I was just thinking"
Allie-"Still thinking? What does a 8/9 year old think about?"
Nat-"I'm 9"
Allie-"I was close"
Nat-"Well, life"
Allie-"What about life?"
Nat-"Just stuff"
Allie-"Not very open, huh?"
Nat-*laughs*"I basically just met you"
Allie-"We could know each other better"
Nat-"One day, it's getting late and I bet your parents are wondering where you are"
Allie-"My parents went on a date; it's awesome seeing them in love, the years haven't passed, I love them. To have parents is great although they may be over protective and stuff or they over react but you know they love you, you should know, your parents must be the same"
The way Allie described her parents; he had a couple of tears in his eyes and looked away, trying to wipe them off quickly.
Allie-"Hey, Nat you ok?"
Nat-"I should go, I do have to go home"*runs away quickly*
Days passed and the Wolff brothers didnt see Allie or Kristina for a while since the last time Nat saw Allie.
There was no news of Polly; no one knew where she was. Soon Nat and Alex started to learn instruments, Nat the piano/guitar and Alex the drums/guitar. It figured that it was a way to have fun. Michael finally smiled although Alex had nightmares about his mom ever since she left but nothing worse. Sometimes Nat waited in front of the door with the hopes that Polly would show up but nothing.

You have so many relationships in this life,
But only one or two will last.
You go through all the pain and strife,
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast.
Oh yeah. They're gone so fast.
Oh, so hold on to the ones who really care,
In the end they'll be the only ones there.
When you get old and start losing your hair,
Can you tell me who will still care?
Can you tell me who will still care? Oh care.
Chorus:
MMMBop, ba duba dop ba do bop,
Ba duba dop ba do bop,
Ba duba dop ba do. Oh yeah,
MMMBop ba duba dop ba do bop,
Ba duba dop ba do bop,
Ba duba dop ba do
Oh yeah, in an MMMBop they're gone. Yeah.
Plant a seed, plant a flower,
Plant a rose, you can plant any one of those
Keep planting to find out which one grows.
It's a secret no one knows.
It's a secret no one knows.
Oh, no one knows.
(Chorus...)

This year, Associate Professor of Africana Studies Judith Casselberry gave the annual Karofsky lecture on "Solving the Mystery of Grace Jones: It's the Holy Ghost."
Cultural icon Grace Jones is in the fourth decade of a professional career that includes high fashion model, actress, and recording artist. Throughout, Jones has served as a symbol for unexplainable excess in the popular imagination. Descriptions of her by critics, public intellectuals, and scholars have included: "an emblem of cold steel androgyny," "a question mark followed by an exclamation point," and "sci-fi fantasy." Since the early 1990s, scholars across disciplines have analyzed her work through theories of gender, race, performance, postmodernism, post-colonialism, and transnationalism in attempts to make her legible. Primarily focused on Jones' musical work and persona, this lecture pushes current scholarship by asserting her transnational Pentecostal upbringing is as significant as race, gender, and (secular) transnationalism in interpreting her contribution to popular culture. Re-reading Jones' work through the lens of Pentecostalism shows a dialogue through aesthetics. She infuses "sanctified" expressions into performance in a deliberately profane manner, simultaneously reinforcing a sanctified aesthetic and turning it against itself.
Casselberry teaches courses on African American women's religious lives; music and spirituality in popular culture; music and social movements; and issues in Black intellectual thought. Her interest in African American religious and cultural studies, with particular attention to gender, guides her research agenda. Her current ethnography, The Labor of Faith: Gender and Power in Black Apostolic Pentecostalism, employs feminist labor theories to examine the spiritual, material, social, and organizational work of women in a New York-based Pentecostal denomination (Duke University Press, April 2017). She is co-editor with Elizabeth Pritchard of Spirit Goes Where It Listeth: Black Women and Pentecostalism in Diaspora. This collection of essays by leading scholars examines Black women's engagement with Pentecostalism in Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Brazil, Haiti, Grenada, and the U.S. (forthcoming in Religious Cultures of African and African Diaspora People series with Duke University Press). In addition to research and publishing on organized Pentecostalism, she is working on a project examining the transnational Pentecostal roots of international music icon Grace Jones and their imprint on her performance aesthetics and identity.
Casselberry's interest in links between lettered and performed scholarship comes from her career as an academic and performer. As a vocalist and guitarist, she performs nationally and internationally with Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely, and has enjoyed a career as an international recording artist with Casselberry-DuPree and JUCA. She has shared stages with Sweet Honey in the Rock, Odetta, Stevie Wonder, Etta James, and Elvis Costello, among others
